Abstrak :
This is a collection of original contributions from a group of eminent philosophers and philosophers of education, who sketch the implications of advances in contemporary epistemology for education. This book contains new papers on education and social and virtue epistemology contributed by a range of eminent philosophers and philosophers of education. This book reconceives epistemology in the light of notions from social and virtue epistemology. It demonstrates that a reconsideration of epistemology in the light of ideas from social and virtue epistemology will in turn re-invigorate the links between epistemology and education.

Tulisan ini bertujuan untuk membahas secara mendalam etika Prima Facie Duties ciptaan William David Ross. Prima Facie Duties merupakan teori etika yang didasari oleh dua konsep dasar yaitu konsep ketepatan dan konsep kebaikan. Kedua konsep inilah yang mendasari kewajiban dalam Prima Facie Duties yaitu duty of fidelity, duty of gratitude, duty of reparation, duty of beneficence, duty of justice, duty of self-improvement, dan, duty of non-maleficience. Tulisan ini juga memberikan perbandingan Prima Facie Duties dengan Ideal Utilitarian Moore dan Deontology Kantian, dan Moral Relativism untuk memberikan suatu gambaran jelas apa yang menjadi corak khas dari Prima Facie Duties. Dalam tulisan ini juga dimasukan kritik dari John Rawls kepada intuisionisme dan juga tanggapan berdasarkan Prima Facie Duties terhadap kritik tersebut yang berupa improvisasi penting bagi Prima Facie Duties yaitu sistem prioritas. ......The point of this essay is to explain deeply the Prima Facie Duties ethics which were made by W.D. Ross. Prima Facie Duties is an ethical theory based on two main concept which is right and good. These two central concept become the base of the seven duties which are duty of fidelity, duty of gratitude, duty of reparation, duty of beneficence, duty of justice, duty of self-improvement, and duty of non-maleficience. There is also comparison of Prima Facie Duties with Moore Ideal Utiliarianism, Kantian Deontology, and Moral Relativism to show the main characteristic of Prima Facie Duties. Critics from John Rawls against ethical intuitionism is also included with the solution for Prima Facie Duties based on John Rawls critics which improves Prima Facie Duties in the form of priority system.

Rethinking virtue ethics offers a model of Aristotelian virtue ethics based on a deductive paradigm. This book argues that, contrary to what many contemporary thinkers are inclined to believe, Aristotelian virtue ethics is consistent with at least some action-guiding moral principles being true unconditionally, and that a justification for general moral principles can be grounded in fundamental concepts within Aristotle?s theory. An analysis of ethical propositions that hold for the most part is proposed that fits well within the deductive paradigm developed. This unique interpretation of virtue ethics has implications for recent discussions of the virtues in social psychology, issues about how fundamental moral principles are known, questions about the justification of inalienable rights, debates about moral particularism and generalism, and discussions of moral realism and anti-realism.

Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui gambaran kebahagiaan serta identiiikasi character strength dan virtue orang tua tunggal wanita. Pcnclitian ini menggunakan metodc kualilatif dengan melibatkan dua partisipan berusia 44 dan 55 tahun. Pengumpulan data dilakukan dengan cara wawancara, observasi, dan administrasi inventori VIA-IS. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa kebahagiaan yang dirasakan oleh orang tua tunggal wanita cukup bervariasi dari segi sumber kebahagiaan dan emosi positif yang dirasakannya. Meskipun bervariasi, namun tampaknya kedua partisipan mampu merasakan emosi positif pada masa lalu, masa depan, dan masa kini. Dari penelitian ini juga didapatkan bahwa faktor utama yang mempengaruhi kebahagiaan responden di masa lalu, masa kini, dan masa depan adalah faktor lingkungan yaitu kasih sayang baik yang mereka terima maupun yang merelca rasakan. Selain itu, nampaknya faktor pencapaian dalam keberhasilan anak turut menyumbangkan kebahagiaan pada responden. Berdasarkan hasil analisa kekuatan dan kebajikan, ditemukan kekuatan utama yang sama pada kedua responden yaitu spirituality dan gratitude. Meskipun kekuatan love tidak muncul sebagai kekuatan utama dalam inventori VIA-IS, namun berdasarkan hasil wawancara didapatkan bahwa kekuatan love yang dimiliki kedua partisipan kcpada anak mereka juga membcrikan penguatan kepada partisipan dalam menjalani tuntutan dan tanggungjawab sebagai orang tua tunggal. kekuatan dan kebajikan yang dimiliki responden nampaknya muncul dari kcadaan sulit yang telah mereka alami dalam pengalaman hidupnya dan mereka menggunakan kekuatan dan kebajikan yang dimilikinya tersebut untuk menemukan kebahagiaannya, baik di masa Ialu, masa kini, dan masa depan. ......The purpose of this study is to leam the happiness of single mother and to identify their character strength and virtue. Using the qualitative research, this study collects data through in-depth interviews, observation, and VIA IS administration of 2 participants aging between 44 and 55 years old. The study results found that the happiness of the participants in the three categories classified by Seligman (2002) are variated. The study also found that the family environment factors are the main factors that effects the happiness felt by the participants in the past, present and future. Beside the environment factor, it is also found that their child successes are also having positive contribution to participant happiness. Through the analysis the character strength and virtue of the participants, the study found varied results although there are dispositions. The character strength and virtues found in the participants mostly obtained through the rough times they went through in their lives. The study found that participants used their character strength and virtues to find happiness in their past, present and future.

Wayang kulit purwa merupakan produk budaya Jawa yang mengandung tontonan, tuntunan, dan tatanan. Lakon pada pertunjukan wayang kulit purwa terbagi dalam lima zaman, yakni mitos awal zaman, Lokapala, Arjunasasrabahu, Ramayana, dan Mahabharata. Lakon Dumadine Sanjata Cakra termasuk ke dalam mitos awal zaman. Pada pertunjukkan wayang kulit purwa selalu menyajikan pertarungan antara keutamaan dan keangkaramurkaan. Penyebab pertarungan keduanya ialah berhubungan dengan perebutan harta, tahta, dan wanita. Dalam lakon Dumadine Sanjata Cakra dikandung etika kekuasaan. Penelitian ini membahas etika kekuasaan melalui deskripsi pertarungankeutamaan dengan keangkaramurkaan, mitos dan kekuasaan, dan simbol dan kekuasaan  dalam lakon Dumadine Senjata Cakra. Untuk menjawab permasalahan, penelitian ini menerapkan metode deskriptif kualitatif dari Creswell (2010), transkripsi lisan ke tulis, kerangka konseptual etika kekuasaan dari Franz Magnis Duseno (1984), kerangka konseptual mitos dari Van Peursen (1989), dan kerangka teori simbol dari Turner dalam Disesrtasi Woro Aryandini (1998). Penelitian ini menyajikan hasil pembahasan yang signifikan bahwa etika kekuasaan melalui kajian tentang senjata cakra mampu memberikan pedoman dan tuntunan spiritual bagi masyarakat. Etika kekuasaan dikonstruksi melalui pertarungan kekuatan keutamaan dengan keangkaramurkaan, mitos, dan simbol. Senjata Cakra sebagai manifestasi dari spiritualitas kekuasaan manusia memberikan motivasi terhadap keberlangsungan keharmonisan dan keselarasan alam semesta. ......Wayang kulit purwa is a Javanese cultural product that contains spectacle, guidance and order. The plays in the Purwa shadow puppet show are divided into five eras, namely the myth of the beginning of the era, Lokapala, Arjunasasrabahu, Ramayana, and Mahabharata. Dumadine Sanjata Cakra’s play is included in the myth of the beginning of time. Purwa shadow puppet shows always present a battle between virtue and cruelty. The cause of the fight between the two is related to the struggle for wealth, throne and women. In Dumadine Sanjata Cakra's play, the ethics of power is contained. This research discusses the ethics of power through descriptions of the struggle between virtue and wrath, myth and power, and symbols and power in Dumadine's play Weapon Cakra. To answer the problem, this research applies Creswell's(2010) qualitative descriptive method, oral to written transcription, the power ethics conceptual framework of Franz Magnis Suseno (1984), Van Peursen's conceptual framework of myth (1998), and Turner's symbol theory framework in a Dissertasion byWoro Aryandini (1998). This research presents significant discussion results that the ethics of power through the study of chakra weapons are able to provide spiritual guidance and guidance for society. The ethic of power is constructed through a struggle between the power of primacy and terror, myth and symbols. Chakra weapons as a manifestation of the spirituality of human power provide motivation for the continued harmony and harmony of the universe.

ABSTRAK Selain membangun daya saing, Universitas Indonesia juga mempunyai kewajiban untuk menanamkan nilai-nilai civic virtue kepada mahasiswa sesuai dengan hakikat pendidikan dan semangat ketika Universitas Indonesia didirikan. Nilai-nilai ini hanya dapat dibangun melalui praktek langsung kepada masyarakat dalam bentuk program pengabdian. Terkait dengan proses penanaman karakter civic virtue, maka perlu dipetakan bagaimana Universitas Indonesia memaknai nilai-nilai pengabdian kepada masyarakat yang melibatkan partisipasi mahasiswa secara baik dan peran-peran apa saja yang mungkin dimainkannya.
ABSTRACT Beside to build a competitiveness, University of Indonesia have an obligation harvesting civic virtue values to their student based on education philosophy and the spirit of University of Indonesia since there was build. Those values only can build by directly implementation to society as the community service program. Related with the process of civic virtue character harvested, University Indonesia needs a map of understanding of community service values which engaged the students and the kind of possible roles their plays.

Penilaian moral terhadap hewan, mengharuskan penelusuran kembali metafisis moral, yang merupakan reason dari manusia. Moral adalah fitur yang dimiliki manusia sebagai pendoman atas baik-buruk, benar-salah, etis-tidak etisnya tindakan manusia, yang merupakan bagian dari kesadaran manusia terhadap kediriannya serta nilai-nilai kebaikan. Moral merupakan faktor utama yang membentuk distingsi manusia dan hewan, dan menjadikan penilaian akan moral itu sendiri berbeda antara dengan manusia sebagai moral being, dan hewan non-moral being. Penilaian etis terhadap manusia, mewajibkan pelandasan penilaian tersebut pada hukum moral, yang terbentuk atas dialog dan persetujuan yang dilakukan moral being. Berbeda dengan penilaian etis terhadap hewan, hukum moral tidak dapat dihadirkan, akibat hewan memiliki keterbatasan yang lebih dalam kemampuan kongnitifnya, hingga tidak dapat menyuarakan kediriannya dalam dialog moral. Sehingga penilaian kita terhadap hewan hanya dapat dihubungkan dengan komponen-komponen perasaan moral yaitu virtue, simpati, dan piety. Dan perasaan moral tersebut akan merujuk kembali pada faktor-faktor kekerabatan spesies dan kesamaan-kesamaan yang dimiliki. Penilaian etis terhadap hewan merupakan hal yang sifatnya partikular, dan tetap mengharuskan adanya pendekatan berdasarkan kepentingan yang juga dimiliki hewan. ......A moral judgment on animal, require us to trace back the metaphysics of moral which act as man's reason. Morale is man's features that act as a guidance on the good-bad, right-wrong, ethical-non-ethical of human's behavior. It is a part of human‟s consciousness of its being and its virtue. Morale is the main factor that distinct man and animal, and therefore the moral judgment itself differ between man as a moral being and animal as a non-moral being. An ethical judgment on man requires a foundation on moral law that is formed from a dialog and agreement done between moral beings. In ethical judgment on animal, we can‟t bring moral law as its foundation for animal have a limitation on its cognitive abilities; therefore, it can‟t express itself as a being in a moral dialog. In making a judgment on animal, we can only connect by components of moral sentiment, which are virtue, sympathy, and piety, and those moral sentiments will refer back on its species relation factor and the similarities they share. Hollywood is now starting to present morally gray characters who are neither good nor evil. In this trend, the audience might have difficulty determining the ethical principles of characters as they would commonly perform crimes and justify their crimes as something normal and fair. One of the films that present this is Cruella (2021), which is a remake of Disney classic 101 Dalmanation. This research studies the film Cruella (2021) to understand Estella’s morality, whether she is morally good or evil. The research applies Ayn Rand’s concept of 'virtues of selfishness' to determine Estella’s morality, which believes that humans rationally prioritize their lives as it is their responsibility to do so. It is necessary for their survival responsibility. The research applies textual analysis where I analyzed the dialogue, character's actions, and mise-en-scene elements in the film such as costume and lighting.
