Informal learning can pack quite a punch in terms of boosting workplace performance and efficiency. But what is it, and what can you do to promote informal learning in the workplace? ABSTRAK
Tesis ini membahas pelatihan dan pembelajaran informal sebagai metode untuk mengembangkan kompetensi karyawan dengan didukung motivasi belajar. Penelitian ini adalah penelitian kuantitatif dengan melibatkan 224 karyawan instansi pemerintah yakni Sekretariat Kabinet sebagai responden. Hasil analisis data dengan menggunakan analisis faktor dan analisis regresi menunjukkan, bahwa pelatihan dan pembelajaran informal berpengaruh signifikan terhadap kompetensi, sedangkan motivasi belajar juga berpengaruh signifikan terhadap pelatihan dan pembelajaran informal. Hasil penelitian juga menunjukkan bahwa meskipun pembelajaran informal berpengaruh signifikan terhadap kompetensi, namun nilai hasil t-statistik lebih rendah dibandingkan dengan nilai t-statistik antara pengaruh pelatihan terhadap kompetensi. Keberhasilan program pelatihan dan aktivitas belajar akan memperoleh hasil yang maksimal manakala didukung oleh motivasi pegawai dalam mengikuti pelatihan dan melakukan aktifitas-aktifitas pembelajaran informal.
ABSTRACT


This thesis discusses training and informal learning as a method for developing employee competencies to be influenced by the motivation to learn. This research is a quantitative research involving 224 employees of government agencies namely the Cabinet Secretariat as respondents. The results of data analysis using factor analysis and regression analysis showed that the competence of employees affected by the training and informal learning and motivation to learn a significant effect on training and informal learning. The results also showed that despite significant effect on the informal learning competence, but the value of the t-statistic is lower than the value of t-statistics between training towards competencies. The success of the training programs and learning activities will obtain the maximum results when supported by motivation in training and doing informal learning activities

Studi ini menganalisis bagaimana pengalaman migrasi ke Jabodetabek (Jakarta, Bogor, Depok, Tangerang, dan Bekasi) dan kota metropolitan lainnya di Indonesia berpengaruh terhadap pendapatan, baik pekerja formal maupun informal. Penelitian ini menggunakan data dari Indonesia Family Life Survey (IFLS) tahun 2007 dan 2014 serta data BPS dan Simreg Bappenas. Dengan menggunakan regresi fixed effect, penelitian ini menemukan bahwa pengalaman migrasi ke Jabodetabek tidak memberikan pengaruh terhadap pendapatan, baik bagi pekerja formal maupun informal. Sementara pengalaman migrasi ke kota metropolitan selain Jabodetabek berpengaruh terhadap pendapatan baik bagi pekerja formal maupun informal. Akan tetapi, pekerja di Jabodetabek memperoleh pendapatan lebih tinggi sementara pekerja di kota-kota metropolitan tidak. Temuan ini menunjukkan adanya ketimpangan kesempatan dan ekonomi antara Jabodetabek sebagai primate city dan kawasan lainnya. Selain itu, penelitian ini juga mengkonfirmasi adanya learning effect bagi pekerja formal dan informal. Learning effect tersebut justru lebih tinggi untuk pekerja informal. Hal ini dikarenakan mudahnya melakukan imitasi untuk pekerjaan sektor informal. Selain itu, tingkat kepercayaan serta network externalities lebih kuat antar pekerja informal yang memungkinkan terjadinya transaksi atau kerjasama yang berulang. ......This study examines how migration experience to large agglomeration economies of Jabodetabek (Jabodetabek, Bogor, Depok, Tangerang, and Bekasi) and other metropolitan cities in Indonesia affect income of both formal and informal workers. This study employs data from the Indonesia Family Life Survey (IFLS) in 2007 and 2014 as well as macro data from BPS and Simreg Bappenas. Using fixed effect regression, this study finds that migration experience to Jabodetabek has no effect on income, both formal and informal workers. Meanwhile, migration experience to a metropolitan city other than Jabodetabek increase the income of formal and informal workers. However, workers in Jabodetabek earn higher incomes while workers in metropolitan cities do not. These findings show that there is inequality of opportunity and economy between Jabodetabek as a primate city and other areas. In addition, this study also confirms the existence of a learning effect for formal and informal workers. Interestingly, learning effect is higher for informal workers. This is because it is relatively easy to imitate a product produced by informal sector. In addition, trust and network externalities are stronger among informal workers which allow them to make repeated transactions or partnerships.

Perusahaan rintisan mengalami banyak perubahan untuk menghadapi perubahan kondisi ekonomi dan memenangkan persaingan di pasar. Kemampuan karyawan untuk beradaptasi dan meningkatkan keterampilan menjadi faktor yang penting untuk dapat mencapai kesuksesan. Penelitian ini menggabungkan faktor struktural organisasi yaitu penerapan high involvement human resource, learning culture, serta faktor pegawai social informal learning. Analisis data dilakukan terhadap 290 pegawai perusahaan rintisan di Indonesia dengan menggunakan structural equation modelling. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa pengakuan, pemberdayaan, pengembangan kompetensi, pembagian informasi, dan budaya yang mendukung pembelajaran mendorong munculnya pembelajaran secara sosial informal dan meningkatkan kemampuan pegawai untuk dapat beradaptasi dalam pekerjaannya. Imbalan finansial dapat menghambat pembelajaran dan mengurangi keterampilan kerja. Perusahaan rintisan dapat mengadopsi praktik untuk meningkatkan pembelajaran informal sosial, seperti pengakuan, pemberdayaan, pengembangan kompetitif, dan berbagi informasi untuk meningkatkan daya saing mereka di pasar. ......Startup companies undergo many changes to deal with changing economic conditions and win competition in the market. The ability of employees to adapt and improve their skills is an important factor in achieving success. This study combines organizational structural factors, namely the application of human resources with high involvement, learning culture, and employee factors, namely social informal learning. The research employed a structural equation model to analyze data obtained from 290 employees in Indonesian startups. The results of the study show that recognition, empowerment, competence development, information provision, and a culture that supports learning encourage the emergence of informal social learning and increase the ability of employees to be able to adapt in their work. Financial rewards can hinder learning and employability. Startups can apply practices to enhance social informal learning, such as recognition, empowerment, competence development and information sharing to increase their competitiveness in the marketplace.

Persaingan dalam bisnis yang semakin sengit dan evolusi teknologi yang begitu cepat serta tren konsumen yang berubah terus menerus membuat perusahaan perlu berusaha lebih dalam mencari sumber daya baru untuk menjadi daya saing melawan kompetitor. Sumber daya yang paling penting untuk memiliki daya saing yang berkelanjutan dalam abad 21 ini adalah kemampuan untuk dapat menghasilkan, membagikan, dan mengintegrasikan pengetahuan baru secara terus menerus. Salah satu proses yang dapat dilakukan oleh perusahaan dalam mengembangkan kemampuan ini adalah dengan mendorong motivasi pegawai untuk melakukan informal learning. Faktor yang mampu mendorong motivasi pegawai adalah dengan menciptakan suasana lingkungan kerja yang menyenangkan fun workplace. Dua dimensi yang mampu mendorong terciptanya lingkungan kerja yang menyenangkan adalah fun activities dan manager support for fun. Kendati demikian, tidak semua pegawai mampu beradaptasi secara positif terhadap suasana lingkungan kerja yang menyenangkan. Hal ini disebabkan oleh perbedaan kepribadian yang dimiliki pegawai, oleh sebab itu perlu adanya perhatian khusus terhadap kepribadian pegawai yang dipetakan menggunakan core self-evaluations. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis pengaruh fun activities dan manager support for fun terhadap informal learning yang dimoderasi oleh core self-evaluations. Sampel penelitian ini adalah pegawai advertising agency dan diolah menggunakan SPSS. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa fun activities dan manager support for fun memberikan pengaruh yang positif terhadap informal learning. Selain itu, core self-evaluations tidak memoderasi hubungan fun activities terhadap informal learning dan core self-evaluaions memoderasi secara negatif hubungan manager support for fun terhadap informal learning. ...... Vicious competition and financial instability combined with rapid technological evolution and ceaselessly diversifying consumer trends are increasingly intensifying the need for contemporary organizations to continuously seek new sources of competitive advantage in their volatile operating environment. The fundamental source of sustainable competitiveness for the company of the 21st century, is its ability to constantly generate, diffuse and integrate new knowledge. One of the process that can be done by companies is to increase employee's motivation towards informal learning. This motivation can be delivered by the presence of fun in the workplace which has two dimensions fun activites and manager support for fun. Unfortunately, not every employee can adopt with fun workplace. Different personalities may act differently towards fun workplace, therefore we also have to focus on personality trait based on core self evaluations. This study aimed to analyze the effect of fun activities and manager support for fun towards informal learning moderated by core self evaluations. The sample of this study are employees from advertising agency which included in Advertising Agency of the Year by Citra Pariwara 2016 and analyzed using Statistical Package for the Social Science SPSS. The result of this study found fun activities and manager support for fun has positive effect towards informal learning. Furthermore, core self evaluations does not moderated the relationship of fun activities towards informal learning and core self evaluations moderate negatively the relationship of manager support for fun towards informal learning.

ABSTRAK Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk menjelaskan kombinasi antara job embeddedness dan informal learning akan mempengaruhi employee retention di perusahaan. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kuantitatif dengan pengumpulan data menggunakan metode survei dengan cara memakai total sampling terhadap populasi. Jumlah responden yang ada di dalam penelitian ini berjumlah 199 orang. Penelitian ini mengaplikasikan tiga teori utama, teori job embeddedness dari Mitchell dkk., informal learning oleh Raimonda Alonderien?, dan juga teori employee retention dari Mathis dan Jackson. Hasil menunjukkan bahwa job embeddedness dan informal learning mempengaruhi employee retention secara positif dan kuat.
ABSTRACT The purpose of this research is to explain the combination of job embeddedness and informal learning would influence the employee retention in a company. This research used a quantitative approach to gather the data by utilizes a survey method which then implementing total sampling to the population. Total respondents in this research are 199 employees. This research applied three main theories which are the theory of job embeddedness by Mitchell et al., the informal learning by Raimonda Alonderien , and also the theory of employee retention by Mathis and Jackson. The expected result showed that job embeddedness and informal learning affect employee retention positively and strongly.

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis pengaruh tingkat penggunaan Informal Learning Space terhadap tingkat produktivitas belajar yang dimiliki oleh mahasiswa. Pada penelitian ini, tingkat penggunaan Informal Learning Space dipandang sebagai salah satu faktor yang berhubungan dengan tingkat produktivitas belajar pada kalangan mahasiswa. Studi-studi terdahulu terkait produktivitas belajar berfokus pada aspek media pembelajaran, aspek iklim pembelajaran, dan aspek fasilitas pendukung. Studi-studi di atas secara garis besar mengacu pada pembahasan produktivitas belajar sistem pembelajaran formal yang tercipta di dalam lingkungan universitas. Namun, belakangan ini timbul fenomena penggunaan tempat belajar informal, seperti coffee shop yang dapat mendorong terjadinya peningkatan produktivitas belajar karena adanya fasilitas, teknologi, dan suasana yang mendukung terjadinya proses belajar. Berdasarkan hal tersebut, peneliti menetapkan hipotesis semakin tinggi tingkat penggunaan Informal Learning Space , maka semakin tinggi pula tingkat produktivitas belajar mahasiswa serta terdapat hubungan antara tingkat penggunaan Informal Learning Space terhadap tingkat produktivitas belajar. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kuantitatif dengan metode pengumpulan data melalui penyebaran survei online menggunakan platform Google Form kepada 150 responden dari mahasiswa aktif program studi Sarjana (S1) dan Diploma (D1/D2/D3/D4) di wilayah Jabodetabek. Responden dalam penelitian ini diperoleh melalui teknik penarikan sampel purposive sampling, peneliti juga menggunakan metode wawancara mendalam untuk mendapatkan data yang lebih kaya. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa terdapat hubungan antara tingkat penggunaan Informal Learning Space dengan tingkat produktivitas belajar (0,000 < 0,050) dengan kekuatan hubungan yang sedang (0,534) dan memiliki arah hubungan positif serta memiliki signifikansi pada tingkat populasi (0,000). Hasil tersebut didukung oleh data wawancara mendalam, di mana mayoritas mahasiswa merasa produktivitas belajarnya meningkat saat melakukan kegiatan belajar di coffee shop yang memiliki fasilitas yang tidak mengganggu konsentrasi mahasiswa. ......This study aims to analyze the influence between the level of the use of Informal Learning Space and the level of learning productivity possessed by college students. In this study, the level of use of Informal Learning Space is seen as one of the factors related to the level of learning productivity among college students. Previous studies related to learning productivity focused on aspects of learning media, aspects of the learning climate, and aspects of supporting facilities. The studies above broadly refer to the discussion of learning productivity of formal learning systems that are created within the university environment. However, recently there has been a phenomenon of the use of informal learning places, such as coffee shops which can encourage increased learning productivity due to the facilities, technology, and atmosphere that support the learning process. Based on this, the researchers set the hypothesis that the higher level of the use of Informal Learning Space, the higher level of student learning productivity and there is a relationship between the level of the use of Informal Learning Space and the level of learning productivity. This study uses a quantitative approach with data collection methods through the distribution of online surveys using the Google Form platform to 150 respondents from active students of Bachelor (S1) and Diploma (D1/D2/D3/D4) study programs in the Jabodetabek area. Respondents in this study were obtained through a purposive sampling technique, researchers also used in-depth interviews to obtain richer data. The results showed that there was a relationship between the level of the use of Informal Learning Space and the level of learning productivity (0.000 <0.050) with a moderate relationship strength (0.534) and had a positive direction and also had significance at the population level (0.000). These results are supported by in-depth interview data, that college students feel their learning productivity increases when carrying out learning activities in a coffee shops that has facilities that do not disturb student concentration.
