Studying in university is not easy, student will be faced with new challenges and changes. Making a good college environment is needed effort to overcome all
problems and belief of good things will happen. This research was proposed to understand the correlation between optimism and coping strategy on the student of
University of Indonesia. Participants were 699 students of UI 2011 till (up to) 2014 by filling questionnaire of optimism and coping strategy. The measurement of optimism was with LOTR (Scheier, Carver, & Bridge, 1994) and coping strategy was measured by Brief COPE (Carver, 1997). This study found that there was a significantly positive relationship between optimism and coping strategy on the
University of Indonesia students. Which means the high and low level of optimism can predict frequency of using coping strategy was used by individual.

This research was conducted to find the correlation between academic procrastination and optimism among students in University of Indonesia. Academic procrastination defined as intentional delay in completing academic-related tasks and may result from a fear of failure, a tendency to postpone tasks necessary to achieve a specific goal, poor time management, or task aversiveness. Optimism defined as expectations that good things will happen. Academic procrastination was measured using an instrument named Procrastination Assessment Scale for Students (PASS) made by Solomon and Rothblum (1984). Optimism was measured using Life Orientation Test-Revised (LOT-R) made by Carver and Scheier (1994). Participants of this research were 669 students in Universitas Indonesia. The Pearson Correlation indicates negative significant correlation between academic procrastination and optimism. The One Way Anova analysis indicates no differences in academic procrastination based on semester, but there is differences in academic procrastination based on faculty. There is no differences in optimism based on semester and faculty."

Sedangkan optimisme
dibandingkan yang lainnya.;Generally, students showed high optimism, which they believe that good results
will be obtained after a life full of dynamic lectures. However, it is not rare to
find students who are troubled or even fail during their studies. Uniquely, each
student has its own way of assessing the causes of any events experienced
(explanatory style) that can later be directing efforts towards events in the
future. The purpose of this study was to determine whether there is a
relationship between explanatory style and optimism on Indonesian students.
Participants of this study is 669 students of the University of Indonesia, which
is spread from 13 faculties. Explanatory style is measured using Attributional
Style Questionnaire developed by Peterson, Semmel, von Baeyer, Abramson,
Metalsky & Seligman in 1982. Meanwhile, optimism was measured using the
Life Orientation Test-Revised (LOT-R) developed Scheier, Carver, & Bridge in
1994. Results of this study indicate that there is a significant correlation
between explanatory style and optimism. Significant correlation was also found
between the three dimensions of explanatory style and optimism, with the
exception of the dimensions externality vs internality of negative hypothetical
situation and optimism. Difference of total score has been found for optimism
among students from Jabodetabek and non-Jabodetabek. While the difference
between the sexes is only visible in the total score of optimism. Religion
became a factor that distinguishes explanatory style and optimism of the
individual, where Hindus are likely to have optimistic explanatory style and
followers of the Catholic religion is more optimistic than others.;Generally, students showed high optimism, which they believe that good results

The aim of this study was to investigate the correlation between optimism and general self-efficacy (GSE) among students of Bidikmisi Scholarship at Universitas Indonesia. Optimism was defined as „„the generalized outcome expectancies in individuals that good things will happen in the future and bad things will be minimal”. GSE was defined as “individuals‟ perception and belief in their tendency to view themselves as capable of performing task demands across variety of different situations effectively in a broad array of contexts”. Two questionnaires, Life Orientation Test Revised (LOT-R) measured optimism and General Self-Efficacy Scale (GSES) measured GSE, were used to obtain data from 250 students of Bidikmisi Scholarship at Universitas Indonesia as participants. The result of Pearson Correlation Test indicated positive and significant correlation between optimism and GSE (r = 0.263, p = 0.000). The result explained that the higher score of optimism, would be followed by higher score of GSE."

Indonesian medical students are very prone to stress because of the high standards of competencies that they must fulfill in order to become future doctors. This puts the individuals at risk of further distress that might eventually become a barrier for their education. A lot of research under the topic of psychological distress have not yet focused on Indonesian medical students particular condition. Therefore, it is urgent to dig deeper upon the problem in this current research. This research aims to unravel the relationship between coping strategy and psychological distress in medical students in University of Indonesia. As much as 187 medical students from University of Indonesia participated in the study. They completed a questionnaire on general health Kuesioner Kesehatan Umum in order to measure their level of psychological distress and the Brief COPE to measure their coping strategy. The final data were produced by using Pearson correlation statistics, which showed that there was no significant positive correlation between coping strategy and psychological distress, with r 0,035 and p 0,637 two tailed. There was no signicificant negative correlation between problem focused coping and psychological distress. Furthermore, the positive correlation between psychological distress and emotion focused coping was also found to be insignificant.
