"Children could be allegorized as the future light of the nation, if during childhood they received adequate care and encouragement. On the other hand, they would become a burden when in their early age they were neglected in various aspects. It is through children that a nation's hopes will be reached, as the younger generation will take lead in the future. Through their creativity and their eagerness, the nation will be equal to others in the world, even better recognized and respected.
It is thus proper that the government and all elements of the nation, from nuclear families to broader institutions in which children live, pay more attention to children's interests, especially in their education, either formal or non-formal, in order to prepare them for the future. It is no exception with Institutional Pupils who are serving their term or correction in Children's Correctional Institutions, for regardless of their previous actions, they are still entitled to a better future.
Entering the correctional institution is obviously not a choice, but a compulsion resulting from a previous breach of the law. However, this does not mean that children lose their rights to education, as the sole loss of right during their term should have been loss of freedom of movement. They still retain the right to obtain education and correction during their term in the Children's Correctional Institutions.
Thus the researcher was interested to study the implementation of correction in Children's Correctional Institutions, especially the constraint factors and effectiveness of correction through Kejar Paket informal learning system on institutional pupils of Blitar Children's Correctional Institution, East Java.
Results of the study show that Blitar Children's Correctional Institution has implemented correction, according to its main duties and functions as set by the government, namely: correction of personality and self-reliance, although limitations still constrain these efforts.
The researcher found that constraint factors in the Blitar Children's Correctional Institution include constraints in human resources (including both Correctional Institution Staff involved in the implementation of Kejar Paket learning program) and Institutional Pupils), lack of infrastructure and equipment, and limited funds. On the effectiveness of the program, the result is rather less than successful, as two out of three components of correctional results do not fit with the expected results.
This study is expected to develop the state of the science and as literature, especially in the study of constraint factors and effectiveness of correction through Kejar Paket informal learning system in Children's Correctional Institutions, and as contribution to the Government, through the Department of Law and Human Rights, especially the Directorate General of Correctional Institutions in implementing their main duties and functions of correction through Kejar Paket informal learning system in Children's Correctional Institutions."

"Jumlah penderita gangguan mental di negara berkembang seperti Indonesia mengalami peningkatan dari tahun ke tahun. Survei Badan Pusat Statistik (BPS) menyebutkan bahwa pada tahun 2006, dari 222 juta penduduk Indonesia, sebanyak 0.7% atau berkisar 2,8 juta merupakan penyandang cacat. Dari beberapa penelitian menyebutkan bahwa orang tua yang memiliki anak dengan penyandang cacat seperti retardasi mental, menelantarkannya atau menempatkannya di Panti Sosial. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui gambaran tingkat pengetahuan dan sikap pengasuh terkait retardasi mental. Disain penelitian ini adalah deskriptif menggunakan sampel semua pengasuh di wisma tuna ganda Palsigunung dengan menggunakan teknik total sampling.
Hasil penelitian ini menunjukan bahwa tingkat pengetahuan pengasuh dan sikap pengasuh terkait retardasi mental tergolong tinggi. Penelitian ini memberikan gambaran kepada FIK UI untuk terkait mata kuliah keperawatan jiwa serta terhadap yayasan Palsigunung terkait pengetahuan pengasuh dan sikap pengasuh dalam memberikan pelayanan kepada anak asuh.

The number of people with mental disorders in developing countries such as Indonesia is increasing year after year. The survey of Badan Pusat Statistik (BPS) showed that in 2006, of Indonesia?s population of 222 million, 0,7% or approximately 2,8 million of them are categorized as mentally disabled. Some studies and research showed that patents who have children with disabilities such as mental retardation abandon or put them in Social Institution. This study aims to describe the level of knowledge and attitudes of the caregivers relating to mental retardation in Wisma Tuna Ganda Palsigunung. The design of this study is descriptive research with samples of all caregivers in Wisma Tuna Ganda Palsigunung (N = 32) by using total sampling technique.
The result of this study indicates that the levels of caregiver?s knowledge and attitude related to the mental retardation are high. This study gives an overview to FIK UI for the course of Psychiatric Nursing, and as well to the Palsigunung Foundation in the matter of caregiver?s knowledge and attitude in providing care to the children.

"Pengasuh yang merawat individu yang memiliki tuna ganda kemungkinan akan mengalami stress yang dipengaruhi oleh karakteristik pengasuh dan individu yang diasuh. Pengasuh harus menggunakan mekanisme koping yang adaptif untuk mengatasi stres agar perawatan yang tepat dapat diberikan kepada individu yang memiliki tuna ganda. Penelitian ini bertujuan mengetahui hubungan karakteristik pengasuh dengan mekanisme koping pengasuh di Wisma Tuna Ganda Palsigunung. Penelitian ini menggunakan desain penelitian cross sectional. Sampel penelitian adalah pengasuh yang berjumlah 30 orang dengan menggunakan teknik total sampling.
Hasil penelitian menunjukkan karakteristik (usia, jenis kelamin, status perkawinan, tingkat pendidikan, dan lama kerja) tidak memiliki hubungan yang signifikan dengan mekanisme koping pengasuh. Mayoritas pengasuh menggunakan mekanisme koping maladaptif. Peneliti merekomendasikan kepada pihak Wisma Tuna Ganda Palsigunung untuk melanjutkan pertemuan rutin satu kali sebulan dalam kelompok yang kecil dan menggunakan metode yang berbeda setiap pertemuan, agar pengasuh dapat lebih terbuka mengenai masalah yang dihadapi kepada lingkungan sekitar.

As the caregivers of individuals who have multiple disabilities, stress may occur to most of the caregivers that triggered by factors the individual that given care and the characteristic of the caregiver. Caregivers should use adaptive coping mechanisms to cope stress so that appropriate treatment can be given to individuals who have multiple disabilities. This research aims to determine the relationship between caregivers characteristic and caregivers coping mechanism in Wisma Tuna Ganda Palsigunung. The research using cross sectional study design. The research used total sampling method and the total of the sample is 30 caregivers.
The outcome of this research showed that the characteristics (age, sex, marital status, educational background, and length of employment), does not have a significant relation with the coping mechanism that used by the caregiver. Majority of caregivers using maladaptive coping mechanism. Based on that outcome, it is highly recommended for Tuna Ganda Palsigunung to continue a routine meeting once a month in a small grup every meeting, and using the different method every meeting. So that the caregiver can be more open about the problem to around.

"Penelitian ini menjelaskan mengenai media terapi permainan, serta fungsi media yang digunakan dalam terapi permainan pada anak tuna ganda di Wisma Tuna Ganda Palsigunung. Penelitian ini adalah penelitian kualitatif dengan desain deskriptif. Hasil penelitian mengungkapkan bahwa terapi permainan merupakan terapi menggunakan alat bantu permainan yang mengandung nilai pendidikan (edukasi) dan dapat merangsang seluruh aspek kemampuan (potensi) anak, yaitu: aspek motorik, aspek bahasa, aspek kognitif, dan aspek sosial. Terapi permainan tersebut diberikan kepada anak-anak tuna ganda dengan bimbingan para terapis.

This study describes media play therapy, and functions of the media used in the play therapy to children with multiple disabilities in Wisma Tuna Ganda Palsigunung. This study is a qualitative research with a descriptive design. Results of the study shows that the game therapy is the therapeutic use of tools that the game contains the value of education and can stimulate all aspects of capability (potential) children, such as: motoric aspects, aspects of language, cognitive aspects, and social aspects. The play therapy given to children with multiple disabilities with the guidance of the therapist.
