ABSTRACTPenelitian ini merupakan telaah kritis terhadap teori politik John Rawls dan
Jürgen Habermas dalam menghadapi persoalan fakta pluralisme, utamanya
mengenai asas neralitas sebagai fondasi politik demokrasi liberal. Rawls
mengembangkan konsepsi politik tentang keadilan melalui gagasan konsensus
yang saling bertumpang-tindih, sementara Habermas mengelaborasi gagasan
tentang validitas dan legitimasi politik di atas tindakan komunikatif. Penelitian ini
berusaha menunjukkan bahwa politik demokrasi adalah ruang serba mungkin
yang tidak dapat dipagari oleh eksklusi atau inklusi terhadap kategori tertentu.
Melalui perspektif teori diskurus Habermas, penelitian ini berusaha mengupas
defisit dalam konstruksi teori politik prosedural Rawls tentang perumusan asasasas
keadilan politik. Sasarannya adalah mencapai suatu pemahaman tentang
keadilan politik yang tidak beku dan senantiasa terbuka terhadap segala rupa
kemungkinan baru.
ABSTRACTThis undergraduate thesis is a critical analysis of the political theory of John
Rawls and Jürgen Habermas in terms of addressing the pluralism, particularly
regarding the principle of neutrality as the foundation of liberal democratic
politics. Rawls developed a political conception of justice through the idea of
overlapping consensus, while Habermas elaborated the notion of political validity
and legitimacy above the communicative action. This critical analysis aims to
prove that democracy is a room with unlimited probability, which is most unlikely
to be restricted with neither exclusivity nor inclusivity towards particular groups.
Through the perspective of Habermas’ discourse theory, this analysis seeks to
unravel the deficit in the construction of Rawls’ political theory of the principles
of political justice. The objective is to achieve an understanding of political justice
that is not frigid and open to all sorts of new possibility."
