"The introduction of the Affordable Care Act in the United States, the increasing use of prescription drugs, and the alleged abuse of racial profiling by police are just some of the factors contributing to twenty-first-century social problems. The Cambridge Handbook of Social Problems offers a wide-ranging roster of the social problems currently pressing for attention and amelioration. Unlike other works in this area, it also gives great consideration to theoretical and methodological discussions. This Handbook will benefit both undergraduate and graduate students eager to understand the sociology of social problems. It is suitable for classes in social problems, current events, and social theory. Featuring the most current research, the Handbook provides an especially useful resource for sociologists and graduate students conducting research."

The act of racial profiling towards African-Americans under systemic inequality prompts the entertainment world to raise awareness concerning the issue. The media, such as film, has been the most important instrument in addressing social issues, especially racial issues. To highlight the role of the media, this article analyzes racial profiling in the Netflix television series When They See Us (2019) directed by Ava DuV ernay. Using cinematic analysis approach and systemic racism framework as the bases of the research, this article examines the prominent cinematic aspects of the series regarding the representation of the lives of the Black youths behind the case of the crime allegedly committed by “The Exonerated Five” in New York in 1989. With that in mind, I argue that When They See Us (2019) creates a significant impact regarding racial profiling under systemic inequality through cinematic lens by using representations of police brutality and media stereotype towards African-Americans."
