Kisah Little Fires Everywhere (2020) yang merupakan mini seri asli Hulu yang diproduksi oleh Liz Tigelaar dan diadaptasi dari novel tahun 2017 oleh Celeste Ng berlangsung di daerah pinggiran kota tempat rasisme sistemik dilestarikan. Around six million African-Americans migrated from the Southern to Nothern, Western, and Midwestern states during the Great Migration movement in 1910; however, many White people moved out to the suburbs as the Black population grew in the major cities. The story of Little Fires Everywhere (2020), a Hulu original mini-series produced by Liz Tigelaar and adapted from the 2017 novel by Celeste Ng, takes place in a suburban area where systemic racism is perpetuated. This paper aims to discover how this mini-series presents the issues of racial and structural differences stemming from ignorance and study how these issues affect Elena Richardson and Mia Warren’s relationship with their daughters using Fairclough’s (1989) critical discourse analysis (CDA) model. The writer finds that, in the series, white conservative views and privileged social status create a superficial and dysfunctional relationship. On the other hand, the nonwhite family’s financial struggles cause dissatisfaction and dishonesty in their relationship. It is revealed that ideology is embedded in the dialogues through the language the characters use, which (re)produces the power relations in their interactions and influences their relationship."
