"Judith Butler can justifiably be described as one of the major critical thinkers of our time. While she is best-known for her interventions into feminist debates on gender, sexuality and feminist politics, her focus in recent years has broadened to encompass some of the most pertinent topics of interest to contemporary political philosophy. Drawing on Butler's deconstructive reading of the key categories and concepts of political thought, Birgit Schippers expounds and advocates her challenge to the conceptual binaries that pervade modern political discourse. Using examples and case studies like the West's intervention in Iraq and Afghanistan, and in relation to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, Schippers demonstrates how Butler's philosophically informed engagement with pressing political issues of our time elucidates our understanding of topics such as immigration and multiculturalism, sovereignty, or the prospect for new forms of cohabitation and citizenship beyond and across national boundaries. Abstrak :
Penelitian ini membahas konstruksi gender non-normatif dalam film Indonesia Kucumbu Tubuh Indahku (2018), dengan menggunakan teori performativity gender Judith Butler, sementara menganalisis hubungan sistem patriarki dan norma heteroseksual terhadap konstruksi gender di Indonesia. Hasil penelitian ini adalah: film ini membangunkan tiga jenis gender, yaitu lelaki heteroseksual yang maskulin, perempuan heteroseksual yang feminin (dengan sedikit petunjuk yang tidak langsung tentang homoseksual/lesbian), lelaki homoseksual yang ekspresi gendernya cair. Perempuan dalam film Kucumbu Tubuh Indahku utamanya ada dua macam. Semacam adalah perempuan rumah tangga yang sesuai persyaratan patriarkal, yang lain adalah yang aktif dalam politik, ambisius dan penuh perhitungan, melihat meningkatkan posisi keluarga sebagai tugasnya, dan memiliki orientasi seksual yang berubah-ubah. Konstruksi gender untuk lelaki heteroseksual dalam film ini utamanya hanya satu macam, yaitu lelaki sebagai pemimpin keluarga yang sesuai persyaratan patriarkal, mengelola istri dan laki-laki muda. Konstruksi gender untuk lelaki homoseksual adalah identitas gendernya di luar biner gender, dan tidak memenuhi persyaratan norma heteroseksual, sebagai objek seksual melayani laki-laki heteroseksual yang sebagai subjek seksual, dan menginternalisasi logika budaya patriarki dan norma heteroseksual sebagai nilai- nilainya sendiri. ......This article examines the construction of non-normative gender in the Indonesian film Memories of My Body (2018), using Judith Butler's theory of gender performativity, while analyzing the relationship of the patriarchal system and heterosexual norms to gender construction in Indonesia. The results of this study are: this film awakens three types of gender, namely masculine heterosexual men, feminine heterosexual women (with a few indirect hints of lesbianism), homosexual men whose gender expression is fluid. There are mainly two kinds of women in the film, some are household women who conform to patriarchal requirements, others are politically active, ambitious and calculating, see improving the family's position as their duty, and have variable sexual orientations. The gender construction for heterosexual men in this film is mainly of only one kind, namely men as family leaders who comply with patriarchal requirements, managing wives and young men. Gender construction for homosexual men is his gender identity outside of the gender binary, and not meeting the requirements of heterosexual norms, as sexual objects serving heterosexual men, and internalizing the logic of patriarchal culture and heterosexual norms as his own values.

Artikel ini mengulas persoalan ragam gender Bugis. Gender itu dinamis bukan statis, pemahaman gender Bugis sebagai representatif yang mumpuni untuk menggambarkan ragam gender yang plural, fleksibel, dan toleran. Gender Bugis yang dikaji, digunakan sebagai kritik terhadap esensialisme gender yang tidak dapat membahasakan diskursus ragam gender Bugis. Artikel ini menggunakan data yang diambil dari teks-teks dan dokumenter yang membahas gender Bugis. Metode feminis dan analisis kritis secara dekonstruksi terhadap esensialisme gender, dan teori performativitas gender Butler sebagai cara untuk membedah pemahaman gender Bugis. Dari proses rekognisi menghasilkan pandangan baru dalam proses menciptakan dan membangun identitas gender melalui bentuk performativitas gender. Tubuh bukan sebagai ekspresi melainkan menjadi konfigurasi pelengkap atas perempuan dan laki-laki. Gender tidak dipandang permanen, tetapi secara ilusi. Performativitas berguna dalam menangani gender di Bugis karena menunjukkan bagaimana norma dominan membentuk gender. Selain itu, performativitas gender sebagai upaya untuk mengembangkan identitas gender melalui upaya pengenalan dan pelestarian ragam gender serta nilai Bugis lewat berbagai media. ......This article examines the issue of Bugis gender diversity. Gender is dynamic, not static, the understanding of Bugis gender as a capable representative to describe a plural, flexible, and tolerant gender diversity. The Bugis gender study is used to critique gender essentialism which cannot discuss the Bugis gender diversity discourse. This article uses data taken from texts and documentaries that discuss Bugis's gender. Feminist methods and deconstructive critical analysis of gender essentialism, and Butler's theory of gender performativity as a way to dissect Bugis gender understanding. The recognition process produces new views in creating and building gender identity through the form of gender performativity. The body is not an expression but a complementary configuration of women and men. Gender is not seen as permanent but illusory. Performativity helps deal with gender in Bugis because it shows how dominant norms shape gender. In addition, gender performativity is an effort to develop gender identity through efforts to identify and preserve gender diversity and Bugis values ​​through various media.

Penelitian ini berupaya memberikan perspektif bare mengenai tubuh perempuan, melalui pembedahan kasus belly dance . 11211 ini dimulai ketika belly dance hadir sebagai suatu sent tari yang mendapat stigmatitasi negatif, karena kental akan sisi sensualitas tubuh perempuan. Foucault memaparkan bagaimana selama ini kuasa sangat merepresi individu sampai pada hat yang paling privat. Pendekonstruksian atas detinisi dan tcori tubuh perempuan, agar tubuh perempuan tidak berada dalam relasi Kuasa-Pengetahuan. Judith Butler melanjutkan Foucault, melalui term variabel yang cair tubuh perempuan tidak dapat dikunci dalam suatu finalitas pengertian. Kuasa tidak pernah memberikan suara dan tempat bagi hasrat perempuan, oleh karma itu kuasa selalu membungkam setiap bentuk hasrat perempuan, termasuk hasrat berseni dalam sebuah tarian. Helene Cixous dan Luce Irigaray, menjelaskan bagaimana perempuan membutuhkan tempat untuk mengekspresikan segala bentuk hasratnya. Space yang dibutuhkan perempuan, bisa tcrcapai melalui adanya jaminan dari demokrasi. Perempuan, sebagal subyck yang menu liki hak kewarganegaraan menuntut radikalisasi demokrasi. Tujuannya adalah agar hasrat dan tubuh perempuan dapat dilihat, dan disuarakan juga mendapatkan hak-hak sosio politis dan jaminan hokum publik sebagai pelindung utamanya. Demokrasi sebagai fasilitas yang dapat digunakan untuk mcrealisasikan hak-hak akan hasrat dan tubuh perempuan yang terlepas dari represi kuasa. Karena politik feminisme tidak selesai hanya pada dekonstruksi pemikiran, rnelainkan penerapan dalam dunia praksis

This research tries to make a new perspective about women's body, looking trough the belly dance case. It starts when belly dance is appear as a dancing art which is getting negative stigmatization, because of its side of sensuality. Foucault describes how relation of power can be repress the indivdual as far as privatest thing. The deconstruction to the definition and women's body theory so that the women's body is not in the relation of power-knowledge. Judith Butler continuing Foucault trough the `liquidity of variableterm so that women's body cannot be locked in the sense of finality. The Power has never been give the voice and place to the women's desire. So that the power is always silencing the every voice and place for women's desire that desire of art included. Helene Cixous and Luce Irigaray, describes how the women need a place to express every form of women's desire. Space that women needed, can be achieved only trough the guarantee of democracy. Women, as a subject who have a citizen rights strive for the radicalization of democracy. The purpose is that the desire and women's body can be looked, and voiced so that the rights of socio-political and public guarantee of law as the first barrier can he achieved. Democracy as the facility that can be used to realize the rights of the women's body and desire liberated from relation of power. Because of the feminism politic is unaccomplished just for the deconstruction of thinking, but rather to the application of the praxis world
