Abstrak :
Pendahuluan: Kekerasan yang dilakukan pasien dengan gangguan kejiwaan merupakan tantangan bagi tenaga kesehatan maupun orang di sekitar pasien. Karena itu, kemampuan dan pengetahuan psikiater memberikan tata laksana tindak kekerasan berperan penting dalam mencegah potensi keberbahayaan. Edukasi manajemen kekerasan pasien dengan gangguan jiwa dapat meningkatkan kepercayaan diri dan sikap tenaga kesehatan serta polisi menghadapi kekerasan. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui hubungan edukasi dengan tingkat pengetahuan psikiater menangani kekerasan. Metode: Penelitian ini menggunakan desain eksperimental analitik dengan metode pretest-posttest yang diujikan pada sampel pada dua waktu berbeda, yaitu sebelum dan sesudah edukasi. Uji analisis bivariat dilakukan menggunakan SPSS 20. Hasil: Hasil analisis menujukan bahwa ada hubungan bermakna antara edukasi dan peningkatan pengetahuan psikiater(p=0.03). Selain itu, ditemukan juga hubungan bermakna pengetahuan awal dengan beberapa data latar belakang psikiater, yaitu jenjang pendidikan tertinggi(0.039) secara negatif, juga materi kurikulum pendidikan spesialis(0.028) dan penilaian diri menangani kasus kekerasan psikis(p=0.025) secara positif. Kesimpulan: Pemberian edukasi berpengaruh untuk meningkatkan pengetahuan psikiater akan tata laksana kekerasan pasien. Dokter spesialis kejiwaan yang mendapatkan materi penanganan kekerasan dalam kurikulum pendidikannya, percaya diri dalam menangani kekerasan psikis, dan belum mendapatkan jenjang pendidikan lanjutan memiliki pengetahuan awal yang lebih baik sebelum edukasi. ......Introduction: Violence in patients with psychiatric disorders is a challange for health workers and those involved with the patient. Thus, psychiatrists comprehension and skill to provide a proper violence management are crucial in preventing further harm. Education of violence management can improve the confidence and attitudes of both health workers and the police in dealing with violence abroad. This study aims to determine the relationship of education with the comprehension level of Indonesian psychiatrists dealing with violence. Methods: This study used an analytical experimental design with a pretest-posttest method, tested on samples before and after education by violence management workshop. The bivariate analysis test was performed using SPSS 20. Results: Analysis showed a significant effect of education in increasing psychiatrists' comprehension at managing violence (p = 0.03). Some additional findings was observed, namely the association between initial knowledge and samples background. Highest level of education (0.039) impacted pretest negatively, while violence management in specialist education curriculum material (0.028) and self-assessment handling cases of psychological violence (p = 0.025) had a positive impact. Conclusion: Education significantly increase psychiatrists comprehension of patients violence management. Psychiatric specialists who were given more material of handling violence in their educational curriculum, more confident in dealing with psychological violence, and have not received postgraduate degree past psychiatric residency have better initial knowledge prior to education.

ABSTRAK
Jepang merupakan negara dengan penderita gangguan mental yang tinggi. Penderita gangguan mental di Jepangtercatat sebagai yang tertinggi di antara negara OECD berdasarkan indikator angka ranjang rawat inap. Angkaranjang rawat inap tersebut bisa dijadikan indikator tingginya angka penderita gangguan mental berdasarkanpenanganan terhadap penderita gangguan mental di Jepang yang masih terfokus pada penanganan di dalaminstitusi kesahatan dan bukan penanganan berbasis masyarakat. Masalah kesehatan mental yang semakinberkembang di Jepang tidak diiringi dengan pemahaman masyarakat umum mengenai hal tersebut sehinggamuncul stigma negatif terhadapnya. Tulisan ini mencoba menjelaskan stigma negatif terhadap penderitagangguan mental di Jepang. Corrigan Watson menjelaskan teori stigma yang terdiri dari stereotip, prasangka,dan diskriminasi. Teori tersebut dapat menunjukkan bentuk stigma terhadap penderita gangguan mental. Hasilanalisis menunjukkan bahwa stigma negatif terhadap penderita gangguan mental di Jepang muncul akibatadanya penolakan terhadap perbedaan, minimnya peran keluarga dalam perawatan anggota keluarga penderitagangguan mental dan keinginan keluarga untuk membentuk jarak, serta rendahnya pengetahuan masyarakatmengenai kesehatan mental sehingga menimbulkan banyak asumsi dan membentuk sikap tergeneralisasiterhadap penderita gangguan mental sehingga membentuk jarak sosial.
ABSTRACT
Japan is a country with high number of mental disorder patients. The number of patients with mental disorder inJapan is the highest among OECD countries based on the inpatient bed numbers indicator. The inpatient bednumbers can be used as the indicator to show the high number of mental disorder patient based on the treatment that is still focused on institutionalization of the patients with mental disorder and not by a community-based treatment. The growing problem concerning mental health in Japan is not in accordance to the general public rsquo;s understanding thus creating a negative stigma about it. This paper attempts to explain the negative stigma towards mental disorder patients in Japan. Corrigan Watson describe the theory of stigma that includesstereotype, assumption, and discrimination. This theory can explain the stigma towards mental disorder patients. The result shows that the negative stigma towards mental disorder patients in Japan is caused by rejection towards difference, lack of family involvement to attend family member with mental disorder and desire tomake a distance, and also the lack of general public rsquo;s knowledge about mental health that arouses assumptionand form a generalized attitude towards people with mental disorder so as to form a social distance.
