"Penelitian ini merupakan upaya untuk meningkatkan kemahiran berbicara siswa melalui metode diskusi kelompok berdasarkan tipe kepribadian dan kemahiran berbicara siswa. Penelitian dilakukan pada salah satu universitas negeri di Jawa Timur dengan melibatkan 35 siswa. Peneliti hanya berfokus pada siswa introver yang memiliki kemampuan berbicara rendah. Jenis penelitian yang digunakan adalah tindakan kelas (action research) yang dilakukan selama 6 siklus. Data awal tipe kepribadian diambil menggunakan kuesioner tipe kepribadian Myers-Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI) sedangkan data awal kemahiran berbicara siswa introver dinilai menggunakan rubrik penilaian berbicara yang diambil saat kegiatan diskusi kelompok berlangsung. Siswa dikelompokkan menjadi 3 kelompok sesuai dengan persamaan tipe kepribadian dan kemahiran berbicara. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa: 1) terdapat peningkatan yang signifikan pada kemahiran berbicara siswa introver yang memiliki kemahiran berbicara rendah, 2) siswa introver yang memiliki kemahiran berbicara rendah mengalami peningkatan paling tinggi baik pada fase pertama maupun fase kedua adalah ketika siswa dikelompokkan dengan kelompok yang terdiri 2 siswa ekstrover yang memiliki nilai tinggi dan 1 siswa ekstrover yang memiliki nilai sedang dan 3) siswa menunjukkan persepsi yang positif terhadap penggunaan metode diskusi kelompok berdasarkan tipe kepribadian dan kemahiran berbicara.

This research is an effort to improve students' speaking skill through group discussion method based on personality type and the difference of students speaking skill. The research was conducted at one of the State Universities in East Java involving 35 students. Researcher focuses only on introvert students who have low speaking skill. The type of research used is action research in 6 cycles. Preliminary personality type data were collected using a Myers-Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI) personality questionnaire whereas preliminary data of introvert students' speaking skill were assessed using the scoring rubric taken during group discussion activities. Students are divided into 3 groups according to the equality of personality type and speaking skills. The results showed that: 1) there was a significant increase in speaking skill of introvert students who had low speaking skill, 2) introvert students who had low speaking skill showed the highest increase in both the first and second phases when students were on a group that consisting of 2 extrovert students with high speaking ability and 1 extrovert student with moderate speaking ability and 3) students showed positive perception of group discussion method using based on personality type and speaking skills."
