ABSTRACT
This dissertation is about the environmental friendly production effort of the community of the Small Industry for Soybean Cake Production in the Kampong KOPTI Semanan, Western Jakarta. Parallel to optimistic approach of Ecological Modernization, the main theoretical perspective of this dissertation is structural functional, mainly Parsonian sociology. The second is constructionist approach, to assist the description of some the social process. The data are collected through field study and survey. The research findings show that individually, the production activities of the soy bean small industries at the KOPTI kampong totally cannot be categorized as environmental friendly. They know and aware about these unfriendly environmental behavior realities. So, their community leaders tray hard to look for the right way to fulfill the standard requirement of eco-friendly production, both in the process of production and in the dump and waste management. Ecological Modernization perspective obviously gives dominant ideological contribution, although the result as not fine and fluent as the promised. The social processes like the conflict and disagreement elimination especially about the dump and waste management, is a must and an integral part or ecological modernization process. The active role of the local lay person that has ability to conduct the dialogues and communicative action, can be explain through structuration theory from the Anthony Giddens that ecological modernist too. Then, the important of the constructive role of the environmental activist, particularly from the universities, are the sufficient indicators that the implementation of the ecological modernization perspective need constructionist approach. For the next research, this dissertation recommended to use Arthur Mol and Gert Spaargaren?s theory of Sociology of Environmental Flows."

This research aimed to analyze how a youth social movement called Green Welfare Indonesia utilized social media and resources to achieve their objectives. Prior studies focused on the existence of the internet, especially social media that is being utilized by youth to express their concern in social media, such as Fridays for Future. Prior study also focused on the weakness of social movement that plays a role in the digital arena due to lack of participation and effort to solve the issue that is carried by the movement. This research argues that the digital arena as a new arena for youth can create a difference in utilizing social media power and how youth mobilize resources that exist. The result of this research is that actors from Green Welfare Indonesia are able to search and mobilize resources. The results are reflected in both social media and events that they held. This research is using qualitative methods with in-depth interviews and digital observation of Green Welfare Indonesia’s Instagram content to collect data."

In recent decades, the appliance of Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) has started to spread out in emerging markets. Using data gathered from Refinitiv Eikon, this study contributes by exploring the impact of ESG scores on corporate financial performance in Indonesian and Malaysian public companies listed from 2011 to 2020. As corporate financial performance can be measured by many indicators, this study chooses to have two indicators which represent the financial performance. Firstly, return on asset (ROA) which regarded as firm’s profitability and second one is Tobin’s Q which denotes the firm’s value in the market. Apart from the direct impact of ESG score on corporate financial performance (CFP), this study also assessed how firm size moderates the ESG performance of the company. In addition, our findings highlight how 2015 paris agreement as the ESG milestones affected the development of ESG performance on both countries. Thus being said, this study offering practical implications for corporate decision-makers, investors seeking sustainable portfolios, and policymakers aiming to promote ESG practices in emerging markets."

"This book raises the issue of the practice of patrimonial power with a focus on habitations, particularly in the urban areas of Indonesia. An assemblage of interdisciplinary studies within the framework of environmental humanities, covering the arts, architecture, urban studies, geography, cultural anthropology, and sociology, this multifaceted framework divulges the interactive connectivity between Indonesia’s patrimonial culture and the socio-culturally constructed system of habitation. The interdisciplinary study of the pertinent practices of patrimonial power that have been represented and been manifested by various political and traditional regimes in terms of the built environment and habitation in Indonesia contributes to a new understanding of Indonesian urban spatial development, from the pre-colonial era to the present. The book poses that in order to understand the politics of Indonesia, one must understand the culture and tradition of the political leadership of the country. The author presents such an understanding in exploring and unpacking the relationship between people and place that constructs, develops, sustains, and conserves Indonesian culture and traditions of habitation. This book is of interest to graduate scholars and researchers in Asian Studies in numerous disciplines, including urban studies, urban planning and design, political science, architecture, anthropology of space, public administration, and political philosophy."

"In the popular imagination, Caribbean islands represent tropical paradise. This image underlies the efforts of many environmentalists to protect Caribbean coral reefs, mangroves, and rainforests. Much less attention is given to environmental conditions in urban areas, where the islands poorer citizens suffer from exposure to garbage, untreated sewage, and air pollution. Concrete Jungles explores why these issues tend to be ignored, demonstrating how mainstream environmentalism reflects and reproduces class and race inequalities. Based on over a decade of research in Kingston, Jamaica, and Willemstad, Curaçao, the book contrasts the uptown environmentalism of largely middle-class professionals with the downtown environmentalism of inner-city residents. It combines an original and sophisticated theoretical discussion of the politics of difference with rich ethnographic detail, including vivid depictions of Caribbean ghettos and elite enclaves. The book presents a novel approach to environmental injustice, combining a political economy perspective with attention to the cultural politics that naturalize socio-ecological inequalities. One of the first works to extend environmental anthropological theory to explicitly include the study of cities, the book shows how divergent forms of environmentalism articulate class, race, and urban space. Forms of environmentalism that implicitly or explicitly understand cities as opposed to nature, and poor people as a threat to environmental purity, contribute to urban naturalisms that naturalize social hierarchies and the unequal distribution of environmental problems.
