Abstrak :
Manusia dalam menjalani kehidupannya harus senantiasa berhati-hati, karena pada dasarnya setiap perbuatan baik atau buruk akan menimbulkan balasan (karma) yang sesuai. Dalam budaya Jawa, istilah karma terdapat dalam proposisi ngundhuh wohing pakarti (NWP). Proposisi NWP tergambar pada kehidupan tokoh utama, Sarinem, dalam novel Ontran-Ontran Sarinem (OOS) karya Tulus Setiyadi. Penelitian ini mengkaji mengenai citra tokoh utama, Sarinem, dalam novel OOS dan proposisi NWP yang dikonstruksikan dalam novel OOS. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk 1) menggambarkan citra tokoh utama, Sarinem, dikonstruksi dalam novel OOS, 2) menggambarkan proposisi NWP dikonstruksi dalam novel OOS melalui citra tokoh. Hasil penelitian ini memberikan gambaran citra tokoh utama, Sarinem, yang durung njawani karena belum mampu mengendalikan dirinya yang masih melenceng dari etika perempuan Jawa sebagaimana mestinya, dan terdapat konstruksi proposisi NWP yang terdapat dalam novel OOS yang dibagi menjadi nafsu (hawa nepsu) dan egoisme (pamrih). Penelitian ini memberikan kesimpulan bahwa proposisi NWP merupakan gambaran karma yang diterima oleh manusia sesuai dengan perbuatan baik atau buruk yang dilakukannya. Istilah karma tersebut digunakan untuk dapat menjaga perbuatan manusia agar senantiasa menjaga keselarasan kosmos (memayu hayuning bawana) dengan selalu eling lan waspada agar dapat mencapai tujuan kehidupan di dunia yaitu keadaan slamet. ......People should always be careful in their life, because everything that people do, no matter it’s good or bad, will return to them as they get what the deserve (karma) appropriately. In Javanese culture, word of karma in the proposition ngundhuh wohing pakarti (NWP). We can see the proposition of (NWP) in Sarinem, as the central character, in Ontran-Ontran Sarinem (OOS) novel by Tulus Setiyadi. This research examines about the image of the central character, Sarinem, in OOS novel and NWP proposition which is constructed in OOS novel. This research is aim for 1) describing image of the central character, Sarinem, constructed in the novel sarinem, 2) describing proposition of NWP constructed in OOS novel trough the characters. Result of this research is giving description of the central character, Sarinem that durung njawani because she hasn’t able to control herself from stray from the ethics of Javanese women as they should, and there are constructions of NWP proposition that we can found in OOS novel which consisting of desire (hawa nepsu) and selfishness (pamrih). This research give conclusion that NWP proposition is depiction that karma that people accept deserves of what they did, good or bad. The word of karma is used for keeping people’s behaviour, so that they can always keeping cosmic harmony (memayu hayuning bawana) by always eling lan waspada, so they can get their life goals in this world, to wit slamet condition.
