"This article reviews the breadth of the influence of Arabic on the languages of Nusantara, from the early arrival of Islam in the archipelago to the modern era.1 Focusing on both linguistics and culture, we pay attention to precolonial exchanges, regional languages – in particular Bima, Sasak, Javanese, Sundanese, and Bugis – and the recent influence of Arabic and Islamic culture on the development of technological products, Islamic financial systems, and Islamic lifestyles in contemporary Indonesia. From era to era, Arabic has not only played a role in enriching the vocabulary of the languages of Nusantara, it has also contributed to the social, religious, educational, literary, philosophical, legal, political, scientific, and cultural domains."

"To face the pressure of competition, more and more companies perform accelerated product development by shortening the product development time so that the product will arrive at the market at the shortest time. Food industry has also performed accelerated product development. Using evolution theory, contingency theory, market-based view, and resource-based view a research model has been built. Results of the research?s initial identification show that food industry in Indonesia is in growth level towards maturity level. Meanwhile, competition in the food industry is in moderate level towards hypercompetition level. Tactics of accelerated product development often carried out is by simplifying the product development steps to eliminating the product development steps. The innovation type used is incremental innovation since it is fast and easy. Results of the research give information that intuition and capabilities are the main motivating factors for big-medium scaled food companies in Indonesia to accelerate product development."

"In this paper, we discuss about the design, implementation and assessment of a two-stage Arabic speaker recognition system, which aims to recognize a target Arabic speaker among several people. The first stage uses improved DTW (Dynamic Time Warping) algorithm and the second stage uses SA-KM-based GMM (Gaussian Mixture Model). MFCC (Mel Frequency Cepstral Coefficients) and its differences form, as acoustic feature, are extracted from the sample speeches. DTW provides three most possible speakers and then the recognition results are conveyed to GMM training processes. A specified similarity assessment algorithm, KL distance, is applied to find the best match with the target speaker. Experimental results show that text-independent recognition rate of the cascaded system reaches 90 percent.Dalam paper ini, kami membahas desain, implementasi dan penilaian sistem pengenalan dua tahap untuk penutur Bahasa Arab, yang bertujuan untuk mengenali target penutur Bahasa Arab di antara beberapa orang. Tahap pertama menggunakan algoritma improved DTW (Dynamic Time Warping) dan tahap kedua menggunakan SA-KM berbasis GMM (Gaussian Mixture Model). MFCC (Mel Frequency Cepstral Coefficients) dan variasi perbedaannya, seperti fitur akustik, diekstrak dari sample suara. DTW menyediakan tiga penutur yang paling mungkin dan kemudian hasil pengenalan diteruskan ke proses pelatihan GMM. Sebuah algoritma penilaian kesamaan yaitu KL distance, diaplikasikan untuk menemukan pasangan yang paling cocok dengan penutur sasaran. "Penelitian ini berfokus pada evaluasi kemampuan fitur terjemahan Instagram dalam menerjemahkan puisi Arab Islam, sebuah genre sastra yang kaya akan nuansa linguistik dan konteks budaya. Menggunakan metodologi kualitatif, penelitian ini melakukan analisis komparatif antara terjemahan otomatis yang dihasilkan oleh Instagram dan terjemahan manual. Hasil penelitian mengungkap bahwa, meskipun berguna, fitur terjemahan Instagram sering kali gagal menangkap esensi penuh puisi Arab Islam, dengan kesalahan signifikan dalam memahami konteks dan nuansa bahasa. Kesalahan ini meliputi ketidakakuratan dalam menerjemahkan kata-kata kunci dan kesulitan dalam menginterpretasikan makna yang lebih dalam yang sering kali terikat erat dengan konteks budaya dan historis. Studi ini menyoroti keterbatasan teknologi terjemahan otomatis dalam menghadapi teks yang kompleks dan berlapis, menunjukkan pentingnya sumber-sumber tambahan seperti terjemahan manual dan pengetahuan budaya dalam memahami puisi. Rekomendasi penelitian ini menekankan pada penggunaan fitur terjemahan Instagram sebagai alat bantu awal untuk pemahaman dasar teks, dan tidak sebagai sumber utama. Temuan ini membuka wacana penting mengenai kebutuhan pengembangan teknologi terjemahan yang lebih sensitif terhadap konteks budaya dan linguistik, serta pentingnya pendekatan yang lebih manusiawi dan kontekstual dalam proses penerjemahan. Penelitian ini memberikan kontribusi penting dalam bidang linguistik terapan, terjemahan, dan studi media sosial.

This study focuses on evaluating the effectiveness of Instagram's translation feature in translating Islamic Arabic poetry, a literary genre rich in linguistic nuances and cultural context. Utilizing a qualitative methodology, this research conducts a comparative analysis between automatic translations generated by Instagram and manual translations. The findings reveal that, while useful, Instagram's translation feature often fails to fully capture the essence of Islamic Arabic poetry, with significant errors in understanding context and linguistic nuances. These errors include inaccuracies in translating key words and difficulties in interpreting deeper meanings often closely tied to cultural and historical contexts. This study highlights the limitations of automatic translation technology in dealing with complex and layered texts, demonstrating the importance of additional resources such as manual translations and cultural knowledge in understanding poetry. The recommendations of this study emphasize the use of Instagram's translation feature as an initial tool for basic text comprehension, and not as the primary source. These findings open an important discourse on the need for the development of translation technology more sensitive to cultural and linguistic contexts, as well as the importance of a more human and contextual approach in the translation process. This research provides a significant contribution to the fields of applied linguistics, translation, and social media studies."

"This study analyzed online purchasing behavior in the hotel industry through an integrative framework, utilizing sets of variables rarely used in previous studies. The analysis was focused on the influence of online purchase intention, perceived risk, and trust upon actual purchase, with the idea of further determining which construct has the strongest impact. It also analyzed two new measurement items for website quality. The sample consisted of travelers who have recently made hotel reservations online. The model was tested with Structural Equation Modeling. Perceived risk was found to have the strongest impact on actual purchase followed by trust and online purchase intention. The weak influence of online purchase intention is quite interesting since it stands in contrast to previous research findings. Perceived risk also perfectly mediates the relationship between website quality and eWOM towards online purchase intention. Being descriptive in nature, this study did not manipulate the antecedents in the manner of an experimental study."

"Krisis energi adalah salah satu masalah besar yang terjadi di Indonesia. Krisis ini dapat diatasi salah satunya dengan mengarahkan perilaku spesifik yang tepat, seperti memilih lampu hemat energi dibandingkan lampu biasa. Untuk mengarahkan perilaku individu, perlu pemahaman akan faktor-faktor yang mempengaruhi individu, seperti social influence (Cialdini & Trost, 1998). Pengaruh otoritas dan norma sosial memiliki kekuatan untuk mempengaruhi perilaku hemat energi individu. Penelitian ini hadir dengan tujuan memperbandingkan pengaruh dua jenis social influence tersebut dalam bentuk label hemat energi pada produk terhadap intensi membeli lampu dengan menggunakan alat ukur Juster Scale. Hasil penelitian menemukan adanya perbedaan yang signifikan pada hadirnya label berisi social influence dibandingkan dengan tidak hadirnya label, dengan F (2, 90) = 7,250; p < 0,01; ω = 0.118, namun tidak menemukan perbedaan kekuatan yang lebih tinggi pada social influence berbentuk norma deskriptif.

Energy crisis is one of the major problem in Indonesia. This crisis could be averted by directing the right and specific behavior, such as choosing the right energy-efficient lamp. To properly direct individual behavior, we need to understand what factors that primarily affect behavior, such as social influence. Authority compliance and social norm have been found to directly affect energy-saving behavior. This research stand to understand the impact by comparing the effect of authority compliance and descriptive norm in terms of purchasing intention, using Juster Scale. The result showed significant differences between social influences and control group, with F (2, 90) = 7,250; p < 0,01; ω = 0.118, but no stronger influence in descriptive norm were found."
