"Salah satu dampak krisis ekonomi adalah obat dan pengobatan oleh dokter menjadi mahal yang menyebabkan masyarakat beralih ke pengobatan alternatif. Pada kenyataannya, ilmu pengetahuan dan teknologi kesehatan belum sepenuhnya mampu menangani masalah-masalah kesehatan. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui gambaran pemilihan jenis pengobatan alternatif dan faktor-faktor yang berhubungan dengan hal tersebut di Kota Bengkulu. Rancangan penelitian ini adalah cross sectional untuk menyelidiki hubungan antara umur, pendidikan, pekerjaan, pendapatan, pengetahuan, keyakinan dan sikap terhadap pemilihan jenis pengobatan alternatif. Responden adalah 100 orang kepala keluarga yang berdomisili lebih dari 3 tahun dilokasi penelitian. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa variabel sikap dan variabel pekerjaan yang berhubungan dengan pemilihan jenis pengobatan alternatif, sementara umur, pendidikan, pendapatan, pengetahuan dan keyakinan tidak berhubungan dengan pemilihan jenis pengobatan alternatif. Dari variabel-variabel tersebut, yang paling dominan hubungannya dengan pemilihan jenis pengobatan alternatif adalah sikap dengan nilai OR = 3,2937 (CI = 1,3511-8,0297). Proporsi pengobatan alternatif yang memilih jenis keterampilan adalah 62% yang terdiri dari 49% ditolong oleh tukang pijat, 10% oleh pijat refleksi dan 3% oleh sinshe akupuntur. Sementara itu proporsi yang memilih pengobatan alternatif jenis ramuan obat adalah 38% yang terdiri dari ramuan (19%), penjual jamu (16%), tabib (2%), dan pengobatan dengan pendekatan agama yang dipadukan dengan ramuan (1%). Sebagai upaya untuk meningkatkan kualitas pengobatan alternatif dimasa yang akan datang maka disarankan untuk melakukan pengawasan dan pelatihan disamping memberikan sertifikat khususnya kepada tukang pijat, tukang pijat refleksi, penjual jamu dan pengobatan yang menggunakan ramuan. Disamping hal ini juga disarankan untuk meningkatkan kerjasama antara pengobatan altematif dengan para dokter sesuai bidang keahlian masing-masing.

One of the impact of economic crisis was the medicine as well as medication by doctor became expensive therefore many of the community turn to alternative medication. In fact, the science and technology of medication couldn't fully handle all health problems.

The purpose of this research to know the description choosing kind of alternative medication usage and factors related it in Bengkulu City. The design of this research was cross sectional to investigate relationship between ages, education, occupation, income, knowledge, believe and attitude with choosing kind of alternative medication. The respondents are 100 head of families who had lived more than three years in the location of the research.

The result of the research showed that attitude and occupation variables had relationship with choosing kind of alternative medication while age, education, occupation, income, and knowledge have no relationship. From those variables, the most dominant variable to alternative medication choosing kind was attitude with OR = 3, 2937 (CI = 1, 3511 - 8, 0297 ).

The proportion of alternative medication who choose kind skilled was 62% which consist of 49% helped by message attendant, 10% by reflection message and 3% by sinshe acupuncture (Chinese healer). Meanwhile, the proportion who choose kind of alternative medication using compounds was 38% which consist of compounds (19%), jamu seller (16%), tabib (traditional healer) 2% as well as medication by using religious approach combined with compound (1%).

In order to increase the quality of alternative medication choosing kind in the future, it was suggested to hold supervision and training and giving certificate especially to message attendants, reflection messenger, jamu sellers as well as medication using herbal compound. Besides this, it was also recommended to enhance the cooperation between alternative healers with doctors according to their skill respectively."
