"Tulisan ini merupakan penelitian mengenai metode pengajaran efektif bahasa Inggris pada siswa ESL/EFL dengan menggunakan metode kajian pustaka. Pengajaran Bahasa Komunikatif (CLT) dan pembelajaran kooperatif dianggap sebagai metode yang bermanfaat dalam menguasai bahasa Inggris. Oleh karena itu, penggunaan lagu dalam pengajaran bahasa Inggris−sebagai bagian dari metode pengajaran tersebut, memiliki peran penting dalam membantu siswa EFL/ESL mencapai target dari pembelajaran bahasa. Dalam bagian pendahuluan, tulisan ini mencakup pembahasan mengenai masalah-masalah yang terjadi dalam kelas ESL/EFL dan alasan lagu dianggap sebagai alat pedagogis yang penting. Secara khusus, akan dibahas cara lagu dapat membantu siswa meningkatkan keterampilan mendengarkan dan pengucapan, serta sebagai alat dalam pengajaran kosa kata dan struktur kalimat. Kemudian di bagian akhir tulisan, penjelasan akan berpusat pada penggunaan lagu dalam menciptakan proses belajar-mengajar yang menyenangkan. Terakhir, tulisan ini menyimpulkan bahwa penggunaan lagu dalam pengajaran bahasa Inggris mendukung presepsi tersebut.

This paper is a research focusing on effective teaching methods in teaching English to EFL/ESL students by using literature review. Communicative Language Teaching (CLT) and cooperative learning are considered useful methods in mastering English. Therefore, teaching English through songs − as part of the methods, has an essential role to help EFL/ESL students achieve the goal of learning a language. As the introduction, it will cover the elaboration of problems that occur in ESL/EFL classrooms and reasons of why songs are viewed as an important pedagogy. Accordingly, explanation of how songs can actually aid learners to enhance listening and speaking skill will be further discussed, as well as the implementation of songs in building up vocabularies and sentence structure. Eventually, the use of songs in creating a fun teaching and learning process will be emphasized on the last section. Finally, the research concludes that the use of songs in teaching English for the learners supports the notion."

"ABSTRACTThis educational practice report outlines the rationale for creating an original English oral communication skills course that combines the study of literature with formal debate. It includes a detailed breakdown of the regular class procedures used to prepare students for a weekly practice debate and also an overview of the course structure, showing how students acquire the skills and confidence to debate persuasively in front of an audience of their peers by the end of the course. The paper concludes with an overview of the English language skills as well as other academic competencies such as critical thinking and argumentative skills that the course aims to develop in students."
