"Penelitian ini menganalisa strategi komunikasi Mobil Cepu Ltd. ketika berinteraksi dengan para pemangku kepentingan dari latar belakang budaya yang berbeda di wilayah Blok Cepu. Hasil temuan pcneliti menunjukkan bahwa perusahaan telah memasukkan program kehumasan sebagai bagian dari stratcgi bisnis perusahaan. Perusahaan memiliki sebuah alat perancangan kehumasan strategis yang disebut dengan Best Practices in External Affairs (BPEA). Pada bagian akhir, peneliti membandingkan implementasi BPEA dengan 9 Steps of Strategic Public Relations Planning dari Smith. Selain itu, penelitian ini juga menunjukkan bagaimana perusahaan menjadikan budaya lokal sebagai dasar perancangan program kehu masan.

As a country rich with natural resources, Indonesia has attracted a lot of foreign investment. This study analyzes Mobill Cepu Ltd's communication strategies when interacting with stakeholders from different cultural background in Cepu Block area. The findings show that the company has external relations effort that is embedded to their business strategy. The company has a strategic public relations planning tool named Best Practices in External Affairs (BPEA). This research is eventually comparing the implementations of BPEA to Smith's 9 steps of strategic public relations planning. In addition, this study will also demonstrate how the company as adapting to the local when designing their public relations programs."

"The fate of indigenous knowledge systems has become the concern of many in an era of globalization. These knowledge systems are said to be under the threat of extinction, to be replaced by 'Western', 'scientific', or 'global' knowledge. The author contends that these concerns are more rooted in an overly essentialist attitude that pits the 'local' against the 'global'. He argues that the dynamics of knowledge systems must be better understood using a model of knowledge best suited for this purpose. He further argues that the most promising model is the one based on connectionism and developed by cognitive anthropologists. Drawing examples from the experience of farmers in Lampung, he shows how individuals combine stimuli from various sources to form schemas, thus showing the irrelevance of making hard distinctions between the 'local' and the 'global'."
