"This 1997 book addresses the current debate regarding the liabilities and merits of presidential government. Does presidentialism make it less likely that democratic governments will be able to manage political conflict? With the unprecedented wave of transitions to democracy since the 1970s, this question has been hotly contested in political and intellectual circles all over the globe. The contributors to this volume examine variations among different presidential systems and skeptically view claims that presidentialism has added significantly to the problems of democratic governance and stability."

This final paper examines MERCOSUR as regional trade institution in South America analized by three main paradigms in International Relations. The analysis of MERCOSUR in this paper is based on basic assumptions from realism, liberalism, and constructivism. The research aims to see the differenceS of point of views among those paradigms toward MERCOSUR. The result shows that realism cannot analyze MERCOSUR through its assumptions. Meanwhile, liberalism is able to analyze MERCOSUR through its assumptions as form of cooperation. Constructivism is also able to analyze MERCOSUR through its assumptions as social construction. The research concludes that there is sharp difference of point of views from each paradigm in examining MERCOSUR."

"This book offers argument about post-neoliberal models of regional governance in non-European contexts. The book critically explores models of transformative regionalism and specific dimensions articulating those models beyond neoliberal consensus-building. "
