"Pasien kanker kepala leher rentan mengalami malnutrisi akibat penurunan sensitivitas indera pengecap yang sudah terjadi sejak awal diagnosis dan akan diperberat oleh terapi. Seng merupakan salah satu zat gizi yang berperan dalam proses metabolisme utama seperti regulasi siklus sel dan pembelahan sel, sintesis protein dan penyembuhan luka termasuk di antaranya sel-sel taste bud pada indera pengecap. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk melihat hubungan antara asupan seng dengan kepekaan indera pengecap pada pasien kanker kepala leher sebelum menjalani kemoradiasi. Penelitian menggunakan desain potong lintang pada subyek dewasa dengan kanker kepala leher sebelum kemoradiasi di RSCM. Asupan seng dinilai menggunakan FFQ semi kuantitatif. Kepekaan indera pengecap dinilai dengan menggunakan 3-stimulus drop technique yang dikembangkan oleh Mossman dan Henkin untuk 4 kualitas rasa (asin, manis, asam, dan pahit). Sebanyak 85 subyek penelitian dengan median usia 54 tahun, mayoritas laki-laki, terdiagnosis kanker nasofaring dengan jenis karsinoma sel skuamosa dan stadium IV. Rerata subyek memiliki status gizi normal, dengan median asupan energi 28 (15-58) kkal/kgBB dan protein 1 (0-3) g/kgBB. Median asupan seng pada subyek sebesar 8 (3-24) gram dengan FFQ semi kuantitatif. Kepekaan indera pengecap subyek didapatkan paling tinggi berturut-turut adalah untuk rasa asam, pahit, asin, dan manis. Dilakukan uji korelasi antara asupan seng dengan kepekaan indera pengecap. Tidak ditemukan adanya korelasi bermakna antara asupan seng dengan kepekaan indera pengecap pada pasien kanker kepala leher praradiasi baik rasa manis (r= -0,170, p= 0,120), asin (r= -0,085, p= 0,442), asam (r= 0,080, p= 0,467), ataupun pahit (r= -0,131, p= 0,233).

Head and neck cancer patients are susceptible to malnutrition due to decreased taste sensitivity that has occurred since first diagnosed and worsened by therapy. Zinc is a nutrient that plays a role in major metabolic processes such as regulation of the cell cycle dan cell proliferation, protein synthesis and wound healing, including taste bud cells. This study aims to examine the relationship between zinc intake and taste sensitivity in head and neck cancer patients before undergoing chemoradiation. The study used a cross-sectional design on adult head and neck cancer subjects who have not been undergone chemoradiation at RSCM. Zinc intake was assessed using a semi-quantitative food frequency questionnaire. Taste sensitivity was assessed using the 3-stimulus drop technique developed by Mossman and Henkin for 4 taste qualities (salty, sweet, sour, and bitter). A total of 85 subjects with a median age of 54 years, most of them are male, diagnosed with nasopharyngeal cancer and already at stage IV. On average, the subjects had normal nutritional status, median energy intake was 28 (15-58) kcal/kgBW and protein 1 (0-3) g/kgBW. The median zinc intake in subjects was 8 (3-24) grams assessed with a semi-quantitative FFQ. The highest taste sensitivity of the subjects was sour, bitter, salty, and sweet, respectively. A correlation test was conducted between zinc intake and taste sensitivity. There was no significant correlation between zinc intake and taste sensitivity in head and neck cancer patients before chemoradiation, either sweet (r= -0.170, p= 0.120), salty (r= -0.085, p= 0.442), sour (r= 0.080), p= 0.467), or bitter (r= -0.131, p= 0.233)."

"Proses inflamasi pada kanker kepala dan leher menyebabkan peningkatan sitokin proinflamasi dan sintesis protein fase akut c-reactive protein, CRP yang kemudian menyebabkan perubahan metabolisme dan anoreksia pada penderitanya. Seng merupakan zat gizi yang memiliki peran penting dalam menekan inflamasi, namun dilaporkan sekitar 65 pasien kanker kepala dan leher mengalami kekurangan seng. Penelitian potong lintang ini bertujuan mengetahui korelasi antara asupan seng dan kadar seng serum dengan kadar c-reactive protein CRP sebagai upaya menekan inflamasi sehingga dapat mengurangi morbiditas dan mortalitas pasien kanker kepala leher. Dari 49 subyek yang dikumpulkan secara konsekutif di Poliklinik Onkologi RS Kanker Dharmais, 67,3 adalah laki-laki, rentang usia subyek 46 ndash;65 tahun. Frekuensi terbanyak 65,3 adalah kanker nasofaring dan 69,4 berada pada stadium IV. Seratus persen subyek memiliki asupan seng dibawah nilai angka kecukupan gizi. Rerata kadar seng serum subyek adalah 9,83 2,62 mol/L. Sebanyak 51 subyek memiliki kadar CRP yang meningkat. Terdapat korelasi negatif yang lemah antara kadar seng dengan kadar CRP subyek r =-0,292, p =0,042, namun tidak terdapat korelasi antara asupan seng dengan kadar CRP subyek p =0,86.

The inflammatory process of head and neck cancer leads to increase the proinflammatory cytokines and the synthesis of c reactive protein CRP , which then causes metabolic alteration and anorexia in the patients. Zinc is one of nutrient that has an important role in suppressing inflammation. It is reported that about 65 of head and neck cancer patients have zinc deficiency. The aim of this cross sectional study is to determine the correlation between zinc intake and serum zinc levels with CRP level as an effort to reduce inflammation to reduce the morbidity and mortality of head and neck cancer patients. Subjects were collected by consecutive sampling in the Oncology Polyclinic Dharmais Cancer Hospital, from 49 subjects 67,3 were men, most subjects were in the age range between 46 ndash 65 years. The highest frequency 65,3 is nasopharyngeal cancer and 69,4 are already in stage IV. All subjects in this study have a zinc intake below the recommended dietary allowance RDA in Indonesia. The mean serum zinc level of the subjects was 9.83 2.62 mol L. Most subjects have elevated CRP levels. There was a weak significant negative correlation between zinc concentration and CRP levels of subjects r 0.292, p 0.042, but there was no correlation between zinc intake and CRP levels of subjects p 0.86. "

"Latar Belakang: Hitung limfosit total berhubungan dengan prognosis serta harapan hidup pasien kanker kepala leher. Regulasi limfosit dipengaruhi berbagai hal termasuk nutrisi. Salah satu zat gizi yang berperan dalam proliferasi limfosit adalah asam amino rantai cabang. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk melihat korelasi antara asupan asam amino rantai cabang dengan hitung limfosit total pada pasien kanker kepala dan leher.
Metode: Studi potong lintang ini dilakukan pada subjek dewasa dengan kanker kepala leher yang belum menjalani terapi di poliklinik radioterapi dan hematologi onkologi medik RSCM. Asupan asam amino rantai cabang dinilai dengan 3 x 24-h food recall dan FFQ semi kuantitatif. Hitung limfosit total diukur dengan differential blood cell counter.
Hasil: Sebanyak 85 subjek penelitian dengan rerata usia 53 tahun, dengan sebagian besar laki-laki, terdiagnosis kanker nasofaring dengan jenis karsinoma sel skuamosa dan stadium IV. Rerata subjek memiliki status gizi normal, dengan rerata asupan energi 29,99 ± 0,95 kkal/kgBB dan protein 1,39 ± 0,05 g/kgBB dengan penilaian FFQ semi kuantitatif. Rerata asupan AARC pada subjek sebesar 10,92 ± 0,48 gram dengan FFQ semi kuantitatif. Sebagian besar subyek memiliki hitung limfosit total pada rentang normal. Terdapat sebanyak 17.6% subyek dengan hitung limfosit total yang rendah. Terdapat korelasi lemah antara asupan asam amino rantai cabang dengan hitung limfosit total (r=0,230, p=0,029).
Kesimpulan: Terdapat korelasi bermakna yang lemah antara asupan AARC dengan hitung limfosit total pada subjek kanker kepala leher yang belum menjalani kemoradioterapi.

Background: Total lymphocyte count is related with prognosis and survival rate of head and neck cancer patients. Lymphocyte regulation is affected by multiple factors, including nutrition. One of the nutrients that plays role in lymphocyte proliferation is branched-chain amino acids. This study aims to investigate the correlation between branched-chain amino acid and total lymphocyte count in head and cancer patients.
Method: This cross-sectional study was conducted on adults with head and neck cancer who had not undergone therapy at the radiotherapy and medical hematology oncology clinic at RSCM. Branched-chain amino acid intake was assessed using 3x24-h food recall and semi quantitative FFQ. Total lymphocyte count was measured with differential blood cell counter.
Results: Eighty-five subjects with a mean age of 53 years, mostly are male, diagnosed with nasopharyngeal cancer, with histopathology appearance of squamous cell carcinoma, and stage IV cancer. The average subject had normal nutritional status, with an average intake of 29.99 ± 0.95 kcal/kgBW of energy and 1.39 ± 0.05 g/kgBW of protein with a semi quantitative FFQ assessment. The average branched-chain amino acid intake in subjects was 10,92 ± 0,48 gram with semi quantitative FFQ. There were 17.6% subjects with low total lymphocyte count. There was a low correlation between intake of branched-chain amino acids and total lymphocyte count (r=0,230, p=0,029).
Conclusion: There was a significant low correlation between branched-chain amino acids intake with total lymphocyte count in head and neck cancer subjects who had not undergone chemoradiotherapy.

"Kadar CRP serum dapat digunakan sebagai prediktor penurunan berat badan dan indikator prognostik inflamasi. Penelitian ini dilakukan untuk mengetahui korelasi kadar CRP serum dengan penurunan berat badan dan mukositis oral pada pasien kanker kepala leher yang menjalani radioterapi. Penelitian ini adalah penelitian observasional dengan desain potong lintang pada pasien kanker kepala leher yang telah menjalani terapi radiasi minimal 25 kali di Departeman Radioterapi RSUPNCM Jakarta dengan usia ge;18 ndash;65 tahun. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa sebagian besar subyek 71,2 memiliki kadar CRP serum normal, mengalami penurunan berat badan ge;5 dalam waktu sebulan 76,9 dengan rerata penurunan berat badan -9,42 7,76 , dan juga mengalami mukositis oral 65,4 dengan persentase terbanyak yaitu derajat 1 59,6 . Tidak terdapat mukositis oral derajat 3 dan 4. Tidak terdapat korelasi antara kadar CRP serum dengan penurunan berat r=0,166; p=0,239 , dan mukositis oral r=0,137; p=0,331 . Kesimpulan adalah kadar CRP serum saat radioterapi tidak memengaruhi penurunan berat badan dan mukositis oral. Sebagian besar subyek tetap mengalami penurunan berat badan selama menjalani radioterapi sehingga pemasangan NGT yang lebih awal yaitu sebelum terapi radiasi dimulai NGT profilaksis perlu dilakukan, namun hal ini membutuhkan penelitian lebih lanjut.

Serum CRP levels can be used as a predictor of weight loss and prognostic indicator of inflammation. This study was conducted to determine the correlation of serum CRP levels with weight loss and oral mucositis in patients with head and neck cancer undergoing radiotherapy. This study was an observational study in the head and neck cancer patients who have undergone radiation therapy at least 25 times at the Department of Radiotherapy RSUPNCM Jakarta with aged ge 18 ndash 65 years old. Our study results showed that most of the subjects 71,2 had normal serum CRP levels, weight loss of ge 5 in one month 76,9 , and also experienced oral mucositis 65,4 . Mostly had grade 1 oral mucositis 59,6 . There were no grade 3 and 4 oral mucositis.There were no correlation between serum CRP levels with weight loss r 0,166 p 0,239 , and oral mucositis r 0,137 p 0.331 . In conclusion, serum CRP levels did not influence weight loss and oral mucositis in patients with head and neck cancer undergoing radiotherapy. Most of the subjects still experienced weight loss during radiotherapy. Therefore, NGT prophylaxis is needed, but this requires further study."

"Latar belakang: Kanker kepala dan leher merupakan salah satu kanker yang berisiko tinggi malnutrisi. Pada kanker kepala dan leher stadium lanjut lokal, radioterapi dengan atau tanpa kemoterapi merupakan terapi pilihan dan berkaitan dengan berbagai efek samping yang berperan dalam penurunan asupan makan dan berefek negatif pada status nutrisi. Tata laksana nutrisi bertujuan untuk mengurangi risiko malnutrisi, mendukung keberhasilan terapi kanker, meningkatkan kualitas hidup, serta menurunkan angka morbiditas dan mortalitas. Pemberian terapi nutrisi berupa konsultasi individu yang meliputi perhitungan kebutuhan energi, makronutrien, mikronutrien, dan nutrien spesifik, serta pemberian medikamentosa bila diperlukan.
Metode: Pasien pada serial kasus ini berjumlah empat orang dengan rentang usia 3055 tahun. Dua dari empat pasien mendapat kombinasi kemoterapi. Hasil skrining keempat pasien dengan malnutrition screening tools (MST) didapatkan skor ≥2. Kebutuhan energi total dihitung menggunakan persamaan Harris-Benedict yang dikalikan dengan faktor stres sebesar 1,4. Pemantauan yang dilakukan berupa anamnesis keluhan subyektif dan analisis asupan, pemeriksaan fisik, antropometri, massa otot skelet, massa lemak, kekuatan genggam tangan, dan hasil laboratorium. Pemantauan dilakukan secara rutin dengan frekuensi satu kali per minggu untuk menilai pencapaian target nutrisi.
Hasil: Terapi nutrisi dapat meningkatkan asupan protein dan nutrien spesifik, namun tidak dapat mencegah penurunan BB, massa otot skelet, dan kekuatan genggam tangan pada pasien kanker kepala dan leher stadium lanjut lokal yang menjalani terapi radiasi dengan atau tanpa kemoterapi.
Kesimpulan: Tata laksana nutrisi pada pasien kanker kepala dan leher stadium lanjut lokal yang menjalani terapi kanker dapat memberikan efek positif pada asupan nutrien pasien.

Introduction: Head and neck cancer is one of malignancy with higher risk of malnutrition. Treatment of choice for locally advanced head and neck cancer is radiotherapy with or without chemotherapy and is associated with various side effects that may decrease food intake and negatively affect nutritional status. The aim of nutrition management is to reduce the risk of malnutrition, to support the success of cancer therapy, to enhance the quality of life, and to reduce morbidity and mortality. Nutrition therapy in the form of consultation includes calculation of energy needs, macronutrient, micronutrient, and specific nutrients, as well as drug therapy when needed.
Methods: This case series consist of four patients between 3055 years old. Half of the patients received combination with chemotherapy. All patients had screening score with malnutrition screening tools (MST) ≥2. The total energy requirement was calculated using Harris-Benedict equation then multiplied with stress factor 1.4. Monitoring was done by anamnesis of subjective complaints and food intake, physical examination, anthropometric, muscle mass, fat mass, hand grip strength, and laboratory results. Monitoring was performed frequently once a week to assess the accomplishment of nutritional target.
Results: Nutrition therapy could improve intake of protein and specific nutrients, but couldn't prevent weight loss, a decrease in muscle mass and hand grip strength in locally advanced head and neck cancer patients receiving radiation therapy with or without chemotherapy.
Conclusion: Nutrition management in locally advanced head and neck cancer patients receiving anticancer therapy positively affect patient's nutrient intake.

"Latar belakang: Risiko kaheksia pada pasien kanker kepala dan leher KKL meningkat akibat tumor itu sendiri, letak tumor, dan pemberian terapi medis. Penurunan berat badan akibat efek samping radioterapi atau kemoradioterapi dapat menurunkan angka kesintasan dan kualitas hidup, serta meningkatkan angka morbiditas dan mortalitas. Terapi medik gizi klinik bertujuan mencegah malnutrisi bertambah berat, memperbaiki kualitas hidup, dan mendukung outcome terapi yang baik. Terapi medik gizi klinik berupa konsultasi individu, meliputi pemberian nutrisi adekuat sesuai kebutuhan energi, makronutrien, mikronutrien, dan nutrien spesifik, serta terapi medikamentosa dan edukasi.
Metode: Pasien pada serial kasus ini berjumlah empat orang, berusia 32 ndash;53 tahun. Satu orang pasien dengan diagnosis karsinoma lidah dan 3 orang dengan kanker nasofaring. Dua dari 4 pasien menjalani kemoradioterapi. Semua terdiagnosis kaheksia pada awal pemeriksaan. Kebutuhan energi total dihitung menggunakan persamaan Harris-Benedict untuk kebutuhan basal dikalikan faktor stres 1,5. Pemantauan meliputi keluhan subjektif dan pemeriksaan objektif tanda vital, kondisi klinis, antropometrik, massa otot, massa lemak, kekuatan genggam tangan, Karnofsky Performance Status, analisis asupan, dan laboratorium . Pemantauan dilakukan secara berkala setiap minggu untuk menilai pencapaian target pemberian nutrisi.
Hasil: Terapi medik gizi klinik pada keempat pasien meningkatkan asupan energi, protein, dan nutrien spesifik asam amino rantai cabang dan eicosapentaenoic acid . Penurunan BB, massa otot, dan kapasitas fungsional yang terjadi pada pasien hanya minimal.
Kesimpulan: Terapi medik gizi klinik pada pasien KKL dengan kaheksia dalam radioterapi atau kemoradioterapi dapat meningkatkan asupan nutrisi dan meminimalkan penurunan status gizi pasien lebih lanjut.

Introduction: The risk of cachexia of head and neck cancer HNC is increased because of the tumor itself, site of the tumor, and side effects of cancer treatment. Weight loss during radiotherapy or chemoradiotherapy will decrease the survival rates and quality of life, and increase morbidity and mortality rates. The purpose of medical therapy in clinical nutrition is to prevent further malnutrition during therapy, improve quality of life, and support the good outcome of cancer treatment. Individual medical therapy in clinical nutrition include adequate energy, macro and micronutrient, and specific nutrients requirements, pharmacotherapy and education.
Methods: Four HNC patients in this case series aged between 32 and 53. One patient diagnosed squamous cell carcinoma of the tongue and 3 patients with nasopharyngeal cancer. Two of four patients received chemoradiotherapy. Total energy requirement was calculated using Harris Benedict equation for basal energy need multipled by stress factor of 1,5. Monitoring include subjective complaints and objective examination vital sign, physical examination, anthropometric, muscle mass, fat mass, handgrip strength, Karnofsky Performance Status, dietary analysis, and laboratory. Monitoring was performed routinely every week to assess achievement of the nutrition therapy target.
Results: Medical therapy in clinical nutrition to four patients can increase the intake of energy, protein, and specific nutrients branched chain amino acid and eicosapentaenoic acid. The decreased of weight, muscle mass, and functional capacity during radiotherapy or chemoradiotherapy were only minimal.
Conclusion: Medical therapy in clinical nutrition for HNC patients with cachexia on radiotherapy or chemoradiotherapy can increase nutrition intake and minimalized further malnutrition.

"Latar Belakang: Kanker kepala dan leher terdapat 10 dari keseluruhan kasus kanker di seluruh tubuh. Efek samping akibat terapi kanker berdampak signifikan pada kualitas hidup pasien. Instrumen yang sering digunakan untuk menilai kualitas hidup pasien kanker kepala dan leher salah satunya adalah University of Washington Quality of Life UW-QOL. Hingga saat ini belum pernah dilakukan adaptasi kuesioner UW-QOL ke bahasa Indonesia.
Tujuan: Penelitian ini bertujuan mendapatkan instrumen UW-QOL adaptasi bahasa Indonesia yang valid dan reliabel untuk menilai kualitas hidup pasien kanker kepala dan leher.
Metodologi: Penelitian ini berdesain potong lintang, dilakukan di poliklinik THT FKUI/RSCM dr. Cipto Mangunkusumo terhadap pasien kanker kepala dan leher usia dewasa.

Background: Head and neck cancer accounts for 10 of all cancer cases throughout the body.. Side effects due to cancer therapy have a significant impact on patient quality of life. The University of Washington Quality of Life UW QOL is the most frequent intruments used to assess the quality of life of head and neck cancer patients. At present, the Indonesian version of UW QOL questionnaire is not available.
Objective: This study aims to obtain a valid and reliable Indonesian adaptation of UW QOL to assess the quality of life of head and neck cancer patients.
Method: Cross sectional study was conducted in ORL HNS Department outpatient clinic dr. Cipto Mangunkusumo hospital towards 41 adult patients with head and neck cancer.

Information on reliable factors to predict patient outcome is important for deciding upon the best treatment to increase loco-regional control, overall survival and quality of life of patients with head and neck squamous cell carcinoma (HNSCC). The objective of this study was to investigate the role of clinico-pathological parameters as predictors of disease recurrence in patients with HNSCC. We studied fifty patients who were seeking treatment for primary HNSCC in Westmead Hospital between 2002-2004. Univariate analysis was used to identify any significant association between clinico-pathological parameters and disease recurrence. It was showed that age (p=0.008), cTNM stage (p=0.02), size of tumour (p=0.009) and positive tumour margin (p=0.002) predicted the risk of the development of disease recurrence. In agreement with other studies we found that some traditional factors influenced disease recurrence. A longer follow-up study should be performed to assess the significance of these factors on overall survival as well as separate studies on prognostic indicators for patients with histologically negative lymph node."

"Latar belakang: Pasien kanker kepala leher (KKL) yang mendapatkan kemoradiasi berisiko mengalami malnutrisi dan meningkat hingga 88 % saat akhir kemoradiasi. Efek samping kemoradiasi berupa xerostomia, mukositis, mual atau muntah menambah penurunan status nutrisi dan kapasitas fungsional. Monitoring status nutrisi melalui penilaian berat badan (BB) dan kekuatan genggam tangan (KGT) sebagai cara sederhana dan minimal invasif dibandingkan alat pemeriksaan lain seperti pengukur komposisi tubuh dan Dual Energy X-Ray Absorptiometry (DEXA). Belum diketahui frekuensi kunjungan optimal ke poli gizi selama menjalani kemoradiasi.
Metode: Penelitian ini menggunakan metode potong lintang, dilakukan di Radioterapi RSCM (IPTOR RSUPNCM).Penelitian ini bertujuan melihat korelasi frekuensi kunjungan pasien KKL yang menjalani kemoradiasi terhadap BB dan KGT, dengan kriteria inklusi adalah pasien KKL dewasa, usia 19 hingga 59 tahun, yang menjalani kemoradiasi pada 10 fraksi terakhir, dan bersedia masuk dalam penelitian. Pengukuran BB menggunakan timbangan merk Omron® Karada-HBF-375, kekuatan genggam tangan menggunakan Jamar® handgrip pada tangan kanan dominan subjek.
Hasil: Rerata BB 55,65±12,34 kg, rerata KGT 29,24±10,74 kg, dan rerata frekuensi 1 kali. Rerata asupan energi 1225,96±501,22 kkal, protein median 41 g, rerata lemak 33,5±18,8g dan KH 182,2±78,3g. Korelasi antara frekuensi kunjungan terhadap BB (r= 0,61, p= 0,66) dan KGT (r=0,06, p= 0,64).
Kesimpulan: Tidak terdapat korelasi antara frekuensi kunjungan terhadap BB dan KGT.

Background: Head and neck cancer patients who get chemoradiated are at risk of malnutrition and an increase in malnutrition of up to 88% at the end of chemoradiation. Side effects of chemoradiation in the form of xerostomia, mucositis, nausea or vomiting add to the decrease : Luana Lidwina in nutritional status and functional capacity. Monitoring nutritional status, one of which is carried out by assessing body weight (BW) and hand-holding strength (HGS). BW and HGS assessments are a simple and minimally invasive way for people with head and neck cancer (HNC) compared to other examination tools such as body composition measuring devices, Dual Energy X-Ray Absorptiometry (DEXA), and require high costs. It is not yet known the frequency of optimal visits of HNC patients to the nutrition poly during the moradiation period.
Methods: This study used the cross section method, conducted in RSCM Radiotherapy (IPTOR RSUPNCM). This study aims to see a correlation between the frequency of visits by HNC patients undergoing morbidity to BW and HGS. Subjects included as inclusion criteria were adult HNC patients, ages 19 to 59, who underwent chemoradiation in the last 10 fractions, and were willing to enter the study to be taken. BW measurements using omron® Karada- HBF-375 brand scales, hand grip strength using Jamar® handgrip on the dominant right hand of the subject.
Result: The weight of the subjects had an average of 55.6 5±12.34 kg, HGS had an average of 29.24±10.74 kg, and an average frequency of 1 time. Average energy intake 1225.96±501.22 kcal, median protein 41 g, average fat 33.5±18.8g and KH 182.2±78.3g. Correlation between the frequency of visits to BW (r= 0.61, p= 0.66) and HGS (r=0.06, p= 0.64).
Conclusion: There was no correlation between the frequency of visits to BB and KGT.

"Albumin serum, berat badan dan kekuatan genggaman merupakan parameter penilaian status gizi yang berhubungan dengan kadar protein tubuh. Penelitian ini dilakukan untuk mengetahui korelasi antara kadar albumin serum terhadap persentase penurunan berat badan dan kekuatan genggaman. Penelitian dengan desain potong lintang pada pasien kanker kepala leher dengan usia ≥18–65 tahun yang telah menjalani radiasi ≥25 kali di Departemen Radioterapi RSUPNCM. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan sekitar 55,76% subjek memiliki kadar albumin <3,4 g/dL. Rerata penurunan berat badan selama radiasi – 9,42 ± 7,76%, dengan 79,6% subyek mengalami penurunan berat badan ≥5%. Rerata kekuatan genggaman tangan dominan 39,48 ± 9,15 kg. Tidak terdapat korelasi antara kadar albumin serum dengan persentase penurunan berat badan (r = - 0,129; p = 0,364) dan kekuatan genggaman tangan (r = 0,048; p = 0,733). Kesimpulan, kadar albumin serum tidak memengaruhi penurunan berat badan dan kekuatan genggaman selama radiasi. Sangat penting untuk mempertahankan status gizi selama menjalani radioterapi salah satunya dengan pemakaian NGT di awal radiasi. Diperlukan penelitian lebih lanjut dengan desain kohort prospektif untuk mendapatkan data yang lebih konklusif.

Serum albumin, body weight and hand grip strength is a parameter of assessment of nutritional status related to body protein. This study was conducted to determine the correlation between serum albumin levels with the percentage of weight loss and hand grip strength. A cross sectional study design in the head neck cancer patients with ge 18 65 years of age who have undergone radiation at least 25 times in the Department of Radiotherapy RSUPNCM. The results showed approximately 55,76 of the subjects had levels of albumin below 3,4 g dL. Mean weight loss during radiation ndash 9,42 7,76 , with 79,6 of subjects experienced weight loss ge 5 . Mean dominant hand grip strength 39,48 9,15 kg. There is no correlation between serum albumin levels with percentage of body weight loss r 0,129 p 0,364 and hand grip strength r 0,048 p 0,733 . Conclussion, serum albumin levels did not affect body weight loss and handgrip strength during radiation. It is essential for head and neck cancer patients undergoing radiotherapy to maintain nutritional status with NGT in the initial radiation.
