"Tesis sarjana ini difokuskan pada studi supremasi kulit putih sebagai salah satu dari banyak manifestasi hegemonik budaya, yaitu kelas dominan yang berhasil makmur dengan bantuan doktrin yang konstan dan halus dari media yang dikonsumsi masyarakat umum dan tanpa sadar menerima. Studi ini membahas tentang bagaimana franchise film terbesar dan paling menguntungkan dalam sejarah sinematik, Marvel Cinematic Universe, adalah salah satu agen yang bertanggung jawab untuk menyebarkan doktrin supremasi kulit putih dengan cara mereka memilih untuk membingkai ulang poin plot, narasi, dan pilihan casting mereka.

This undergraduate thesis is focused on the study of white supremacy as one of the many hegemonic manifestations of culture, namely the dominant class that prospered with the help of constant and subtle doctrine from the media consumed by the general public and unconsciously accepting. This study discusses how the biggest and most profitable film franchise in cinematic history, the Marvel Cinematic Universe, is one of the agents responsible for spreading the doctrine of white supremacy by the way they choose to reframe their plot points, narratives, and casting choices."

Nyatanya, ada mekanisme hegemoni yang membuat proses dialogis dalam demokrasi deliberatif menjadi semu. Hegemoni ini disuntikkan dengan cara menyelebungi kepentingan partikular dengan nilai universal. Deliberative democracy offers an ideal atmosphere for fellowship of human life in a state order. Communication in the decision-making process is the main feature offered by the deliberative democracy. The question then is whether its really could function ideal? In fact, there is a hegemony mechanism that makes the dialogical process in deliberative democracy becomes apparent. This hegemony is injected in a manner enveloped particular interest with universal values. This thesis explore these suspicions, with examples of democratic practice in Indonesia as an concrete explanation for the theoretical argument."

"Militer dan politik tidak dapat dipisahkan. Reformasi tidak menghilangkan dwi fungsi militer walaupun ada perubahan paradigma yang dilakukan militer untuk mengubah gambaran represif yang sudah tertanam. Dwi fungsi membuat militer memiliki kesempatan yang lebih besar dibanding sipil dalam perpolitikan Indonesia. Hegemoni merupakan jalan yang ditempuh militer untuk melakukan dominasi terhadap sipil. Hegemoni memerlukan konsensus aktif dari sipil. Dengan adanya hegemoni dan ditambah dengan kurangnya kesadaran kritis sipil, popular consciousness akan mengatakan bahwa pemimpin yang baik adalah pemimpin dari kalangan militer.

Military and politics are inseparable. Reform does not eliminate the dual function even though the military made their paradigm shift to transform the image of repressive military that has been embedded. Dual function made the military has a greater chance than civil in Indonesian politics. Hegemony is the path for military to dominate civilian. Hegemony requires an active consensus of civilians. With the hegemony, coupled with the lack of critical awareness of civil, popular consciousness would say that a good leader is the leader from the military."

"Kaum intelektual sebagai subyek politik selalu memiliki keberpihakan dan ideologi pada sesuatu hal yang ia atau mereka perjuangkan. Subyek-subyek politik ini berdisensus untuk mendukung atau menentang ideologi dari kekuatan politik lainnya. Konsensus subyek-subyek politik ini terjadi akibat sebuah konstruksi budaya dan bahasa di dalam ruang publik. Konstruksi ini membentuk sebuah sistem produksi, reproduksi, dan distribusi bagi sebuah ideologi. Sistem yang terkonstruksikan ini mengharuskan sebuah identitas dan asal-usul bagi sebuah kekuatan politik. Subyek politik tidak bisa mengemban ideologinya secara mandiri tanpa ada kesamaan kepentingan dan irisan tujuan yang sama. Ideologi yang terkonsentrasi dalam satu kesatuan sistem produksi ini menciptakan plot atau alur yang stabil dalam pergesekan kepentingan dan tujuan politik dalam ranah kebudayaan dan keseharian. Distribusi sebuah ideologi menentukan ideologi mana yang akan di konsumsi dalam tindakan politik kebudayaan ruang publik. Distribusi ideologi ini dimanifestasikan dalam bentuk hegemoni yang mengkonstruksi sistem politik tersebut melalui praktik-praktik kebudayaan dan berkesenian. Akses sebuah kekuasaan memudahkan hegemoni itu sendiri mendistribusikan ideologi dari kekuatan politik penguasa. Hegemoni terjadi melalui institusi-institusi kebudayaan yang dimiliki kekuatan politik tertentu. Polemik kebudayaan LEKRA-MANIKEBU menjadi contoh konkrit hegemoni kebudayaan dan konstruksi bahasa.

The Intelectuals as political subject always taking side on current ideological struggling. These political subjects involved in dissensus to support or confront ideologies from other political group. These subject politic's consensus occurred from culture and language construction in public sphere. These constructions formed production, reproduction, and distribution system for ideology. These contructed system indicated identity and origin for political strength. Political subjects could not bear its ideology independently without identical purpose and mission from the other political groups. This concentrated ideology in current production system creating a stable plot on dissensus in our culture reality. Ideology distribution determine which ideology consummed on political culture action in public sphere. These ideological distribution manifestated in hegemonical form which constructed political system through culture and art practice and exhibition. Access to power ease hegemony itself to distributing ideology from ruling political power. Hegemony happen through cultural institution owned by specific political group. LEKRA MANIKEBU's cultural polemic is a concrete cultural hegemony and language construction example. "

"ABSTRAKPenelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis konsep hegemoni yang terdapat di dalamlirik lagu Burgerkill dari album Venomous (2011), yaitu lagu Under The Scars, OnlyThe Strong, dan For Victory. Penelitian ini menggunakan metodologi kualitatifdengan pendekatan close reading sebagai metode untuk mengkaji teks. Penelitian iniberangkat dari melihat penulisan lirik oleh band heavy metal Burgerkill yangmengangkat tema kondisi sosial. Penemuan penelitian ini adalah: pertama, kelas yangdidominasi dalam ketiga lirik tersebut digambarkan sebagai kelompok yang dirugikanakibat adanya bentuk represi yang ditimbulkan dari kelas dominan, dan kedua, kelasyang didominasi berjuang untuk membalikkan keadaan dengan cara menggabungkanberbagai kepentingan kelas untuk merebut posisi sebagai kelas dominan. Penelitianini menyimpulkan bahwa counter hegemoni akan selalu bermunculan sebagai reaksiatas perlawanan terhadap hegemoni sebelumnya.

ABSTRACTThis research is aimed to analyze the concept of hegemony in the lyrics of someBurgerkill’s songs in their album, Venomous (2011): Under The Scars, Only TheStrong, and For Victory. Qualitative methodology and close reading approach areused in this research as a method to analyze text. This research is inspired by thisheavy metal band’s lyrics which bring up social circumstances as its theme. Thefindings of this research are: first, the dominated class in the three songs is describedas disadvantageous due to the repression by the dominant class, and two, thedominated class struggles to reverse the situation by combining classes’ importancein order to take over the dominant class’ position. This research concludes thatcounter hegemony will always exist as the result of the previous hegemonies."

"This writing is to parse the context of history from Antonio Gramsci?s thoughts regarding the concept of hegemony and positioning that approach in the realm of anthropological studies. The author wants to position Gramsci?s argument by outlining the opinions of the theory?s interpreters and explaining social and political context from the influences of Marxism and communism on Gramsci?s thinking. The fundamental concept of Gramschi?s thinking according to the auhor has influenced how post-1970s anthropology conceptualizes ideology, consent and hegemony as key issues that make the concept of culture become more operational in discussing matters of power."

"ABSTRAKBisnis film di Indonesia diperkirakan akan terus bertumbuh ke depannya. Film asing masih menjadi mesin pendorong bisnis film di Indonesia. Salah satu film asing yang konsisten memperoleh pendapatan besar di Indonesia adalah film-film Marvel Cinematic Universe. Ini membuktikan bahwa brand merupakan hal yang penting. Untuk memastikan suksesnya strategi membangun brand yang kuat, penting bagi perusahaan untuk memahami brand equity. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mencari tahu efek dari brand equity terhadap tanggapan konsumen yaitu price premium, brand extension, brand preference, dan purchase intention, serta efek dari dimensi brand equity yaitu brand awareness, perceived quality, brand associations, dan brand loyalty terhadap brand equity. Penelitian ini meneliti sebanyak 390 responden yang pernah mendengar tentang Marvel dan setidaknya pernah menonton dua film Marvel Cinematic Universe dalam tiga tahun terakhir. Hasil dari penelitian ini membuktikan pengaruh signifikan dari brand awareness terhadap perceived quality dan brand associations, perceived quality dan brand associations terhadap brand loyalty, brand loyalty terhadap brand equity, brand equity terhadap price premium, brand extension, brand preference, dan purchase intention, serta brand preference terhadap purchase intention. Penelitian ini tidak menemukan adanya pengaruh signifikan dari perceived quality dan brand associations terhadap brand equity.

ABSTRACTMovie business in Indonesia is expected to continue to grow. Foreign films are still the driving force of the movie business in Indonesia. One of the foreign films that consistently earning huge revenues in Indonesia is Marvel Cinematic Universe films. This proves that brand is important. To ensure the success of building a strong brand, it is important to understand brand equity. This study aims to find out the effects of brand equity on consumer responses, which consisted of price premium, brand extension, brand preference, and purchase intention, and the effects of brand equity dimension, which consisted of brand awareness, perceived quality, brand associations, and brand loyalty to brand equity. This study examined 390 respondents who have heard of Marvel and have seen at least two Marvel Cinematic Universe movies in the last three years. The results of this study proves the significant impact of brand awareness on perceived quality and brand associations, perceived quality and brand associations to brand loyalty, brand loyalty to brand equity, brand equity to price premium, brand extension, brand preference and purchase intention, an also brand preference to purchase intention. This study found no significant effect of perceived quality and brand associations to brand equity."

"Prancis merupakan salah satu negara multikultural atau negara dengan identitas nasional yang berasal dari keragaman dan kemajemukan. Salah satu film yang mengangkat multikulturalisme Prancis adalah film Samba (2014) karya Olivier Nakache dan Éric Toledano. Film ini menggambarkan perjuangan hidup imigran yang telah menetap selama 10 tahun di Prancis secara tiba-tiba mendapatkan status imigran ilegal. Permasalahan imigran yang pada saat itu menjadi permasalahan genting menimbulkan sebuah bentuk kekuasaan secara sepihak oleh kelompok kulit putih. Berdasarkan pemaparan tersebut, penelitian ini bertujuan untuk memperlihatkan rasionalisasi hegemoni kulit putih terhadap imigran di Prancis dimunculkan dalam film. Penelitian ini akan menggunakan metode kualitatif, dengan bantuan teori Boggs dan Petrie (2008) untuk memahami unsur dramatik dan sinematografis film, dan teori hegemoni Gramsci (2013) beserta konsep white hegemony Edwards (2008). Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa hegemoni kulit putih muncul pada tokoh Samba melalui penyebaran ideologi yang telah diinternalisasi oleh pihak penguasa. Tokoh Samba sebagai pihak yang berhasil dikuasai memercayai dan meyakini bahwa ide-ide tersebut merupakan suatu hal yang benar dan wajar. Hegemoni yang dialami tokoh Samba membuatnya mengalami konformitas atau perubahan sikap dan tingkah laku untuk menyesuaikan diri dengan nilai, aturan dan norma kelompok kulit putih.

France is one of a multicultural country or a country with a national identity that comes from diversity and pluralism. One of the films that elevates France multiculturalism is the film Samba (2014) by Olivier Nakache and Éric Toledano. This film depicts the life struggle of immigrants who have lived for 10 years in France suddenly get illegal immigrant status. At that time, the problem of immigrants became a critical problem that inflict a form of unilateral power by the white group. Based on this explanation this study aims to show the rationalization of white hegemony against immigrants in France that appears in the film. This research will use a qualitative method, with the help of Boggs and Petrie (2008) theory to understand the dramatic and cinematographic elements of the film, and Gramsci's (2013) hegemony theory along with the concept of white hegemony by Edwards (2008). The results show that white hegemony appears in the character of Samba through the spread of ideology that has been internalized by the white group. Samba as the party who was successfully mastered believed and assured that these ideas were something that was right and rational. The hegemony experienced by Samba makes him experience conformity or changes in attitudes and behavior to adjust to the values, rules and norms of the white group."
