"The book about homogeneous catalysis with metal complexes deals with the description of the reductive-oxidative, metal complexes in a liquid phase (in polar solvents, mainly in water, and less in nonpolar solvents). The exceptional importance of the redox processes in chemical systems, in the reactions occuring in living organisms, the environmental processes, atmosphere, water, soil, and in industrial technologies (especially in food-processing industries) is discussed. The detailed practical aspects of the established regularities are explained for solving the specific practical tasks in various fields of industrial chemistry, biochemistry, medicine, analytical chemistry and ecological chemistry. The main scope of the book is the survey and systematization of the latest advances in homogeneous catalysis with metal complexes. It gives an overview of the research results and practical experience accumulated by the author during the last decade.

"Zaozao Qiu shows in this thesis that transition metals can mediate or catalyze the cycloaddition or coupling reactions of carboryne with alkynes or alkenes to afford benzocarboranes, alkenylcarboranes or dihydrobenzocarboranes. These results represent powerful strategies to assemble useful complex molecules from very simple precursors in a single operation. Carboranes have many applications in medicine. However, their unique structures make derivatization difficult and the limited efficient synthetic methods to obtain functional carborane materials have restricted applications of carboranes within a narrow scope. This work breaks a new ground in metal-carboryne chemistry and will have a significant impact on synthetic, cluster and materials chemistry."

"Lantanum-Metal Organic Frameworks (La-MOFs) dengan logam lantanum (III) dan ligan 2,6-naftalendikarboksilat telah berhasil disintesis melalui metode solvotermal. Dari optimasi suhu dan perbandingan komposisi pelarut diperoleh La-MOFs suhu 1200 C dengan pelarut DMF : Air (5:1) mL diperoleh yield terbesar 90%. Hidrogen sebagai salah satu pengganti bahan bakar fosil dapat diperoleh dari hasil fotokatalisis. La-MOFs memiliki area permukaan yang besar, jumlah situs aktif yang banyak serta energi pita celah yang dapat disesuaikan dengan mengatur ligan organik dan pusat logamnya agar dapat digunakan sebagai fotokatalis penghasil hidrogen. La-MOFs sebagai cromophores organik melalui efek ligan antena menyerap cahaya untuk menghasilkan hole dan elektron yang selanjutnya mentransfer muatan untuk menginduksi reaksi fotoredoks pada fotokatalisis.
La-MOFs dikarakterisasi dengan spektroskopi FTIR, adanya vibrasi C-O pada bilangan gelombang 1362 cm-1 dan 1401 cm-1 menunjukkan adanya ikatan koordinasi antara O dari karbonil dengan kation La (III) dan pada 1700 cm-1 gugus karboksil pada ligan karboksilat berhasil terdeprotonasi yang mengindikasikan telah terbentuknya La-MOFs. Pengukuran nilai energi band gap melalui UV VIS-DRS diperoleh sebesar 3,1 eV untuk La-MOFs 1200 C.
Hasil karakterisasi CV dari La-MOFs menunjukkan potensial reduksi sebesar -2,53 V vs NHE. Mapping SEM-EDX La-MOFs menunjukkan bentuk seperti batang (rod) dengan panjang sekitar 35 µm yang memiliki persebaran merata dari tiap atom penyusunnya yaitu La dan O. BET La-MOFs menunjukkan luas permukaan area 197.088 m2/g pada pH 9. La-MOFs 0,05 g menunjukkan hidrogen yang terproduksi paling banyak, yaitu 31,54 µmol selama 4 jam dan La-MOFs dengan deposit Ag 1% w/w sebanyak 37,52 µmol selama 4 jam.

Lanthanum-Metal Organic Frameworks (La-MOFs) based on Lanthanum (III) with 2,6 -napthalenedicarboxylic Acid ligands have been successfully synthesized through the solvothermal method. Based on the optimization of temperature and solvent show the La-MOFs with a temperature of 1200 and DMF : Water (5:1) mL obtained the best yield 90%. Hidrogen as a substitute for fossil fuels can be obtained from the results of photocatalysis. La-MOFs which have an ultra-large surface area, a large number of active sites and band gap energy can be adjusted by adjustic organic ligand and metal centers as an organic cromophores and through ligand effect of the antenna can serve to harvest light to produce photogenerated charge carriers for subsequent photoredox as photocatalysts.
La-MOFs were characterized by FTIR spectroscopy, the vibration of C-O at wave numbers 1362 and 1401 cm-1 indicates the existence of a coordination bond between of carbonyl and La (III). Wave numbers at 1700 cm-1 shows carboxyl group in the carboxylic ligand successfully deprotonated indicating La-MOFs. The measurements of the band gap energy through UV-VIS DRS was obtained at 3,1 eV for La-MOFs 1200 C. Cyclic Voltammetry from La-MOFs has a reduction potential of -2,53 V.
Mapping SEM-EDX La-MOFs shows a rod-like shape with a length of about 35 µm which has an even distribution of each of its constituent atoms La, O, and C. BET shows the surface area is 197.088 m2/g at pH 9. GC-TCD La-MOFs 0,05 g shows the most produced hidrogen which is 31,54 µmol for 4 hours and La-MOFs Ag (1%) is 37,52 µmol.
