"This textbook presents a proven, mature Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) methodology that has delivered success in a wide range of system and enterprise programs. The authors introduce MBSE as the state of the practice in the vital Systems Engineering discipline that manages complexity and integrates technologies and design approaches to achieve effective, affordable, and balanced system solutions to the needs of a customer organization and its personnel.
The book begins with a summary of the background and nature of MBSE. It summarizes the theory behind Object-Oriented Design applied to complex system architectures. It then walks through the phases of the MBSE methodology, using system examples to illustrate key points. Subsequent chapters broaden the application of MBSE in Service-Oriented Architectures (SOA), real-time systems, cybersecurity, networked enterprises, system simulations, and prototyping. The vital subject of system and architecture governance completes the discussion. The book features exercises at the end of each chapter intended to help readers/students focus on key points, as well as extensive appendices that furnish additional detail in particular areas. The self-contained text is ideal for students in a range of courses in systems architecture and MBSE as well as for practitioners seeking a highly practical presentation of MBSE principles and techniques."

"The book covers all the important aspects of research methodology, and addresses the specific requirements of engineering students, such as methods and tools, in detail. It also discusses effective research in engineering today, which requires the ability to undertake literature reviews utilizing different online databases, to attribute credit for any prior work mentioned, to respect intellectual property rights while simultaneously maintaining ethics in research, and much more. Further, the book also considers soft skills like research management and planning, dealing with criticism in research and presentation skills, which are all equally important and need to include in research methodology education. Lastly, it provides the technical knowhow needed to file patents in academia, an important area that is often ignored in research methodology books. The book is a particularly valuable resource for PhD students in India and South East Asia, as research methodology is a part of their coursework."

The concept of a smart city is a concept in which the community and the government adopt a concept in making a city a decent and comfortable city to live in by processing existing resources and processing the right information. One of the pillars of a smart city is a smart environment which has a concept where a certain area, especially urban areas, has environmental management carried out by certain organizations to create a comfortable city that has a good impact on public health. However, in this case, a proposed model is needed to evaluate the readiness/readiness of a city in adopting the concept of a smart environment that exists in a city. This study reviews a city's readiness/readiness evaluation model from the results of a critical success factor analysis conducted with a literature review and Soft system methodology (SSM). The method (SSM) in this study uses the partial SSM method in three stages, starting from collecting information with qualitative methods and after that confirming the model with quantitative methods. Furthermore, an evaluation of the model is carried out with an evaluation made based on the Assessment-Only Pathway (AOP). The evaluation is carried out by comparing the test results from the different cities of Jakarta and the city of Tangerang and seeing the percentage value compared to the comparison between the two cities in the real world. The results obtained from the formation of the model, namely based on the qualitative method, obtained seven forming factors which were made based on the results of interviews and the results of critical success factor analysis, namely infrastructure, finance, regulations, knowledge, stakeholders, the internal quality of the organization, and human behavior. Furthermore, from the quantitative method, 42 valid constructs were obtained which were used as assessment components and were tested in the City of Jakarta and the City of Tangerang. Finally, from the test results, it was found that the City of Jakarta got a percentage below the expected limit while the City of Tangerang got a percentage that exceeded the expected limit. Both of these are by the original conditions that occurred based on air quality, water quality, and the accumulation of untreated waste."

In the face of complicated system design, Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) is recommended to solve the challenges of traditional Document-Based System Engineering (DBSE). To apply MBSE, three pillars are required: modeling language, methodology, and modeling tools. This paper presents an MBSE-based Audit System for Gold-backed Stablecoin conceptual design, namely the G-01 SCA project. Through the stages of requirements analysis, functional analysis, and design synthesis, the design and modeling are finished using the Capella Application under the supervision of the customized Harmony-SE methodology. An instance of the G-01 SCA changing parameter scenario generated during its implementation is also provided. Finally, MBSE is fitted to complex systems, and appropriate modeling tools and methodology should be selected for implementing MBSE. It is believed that MBSE can increase management and communication efficiency, according to the MBSE design practice stated in this work and by the result of an evaluation survey conducted for the internal team of the G-01 SCA project."
