"Syair Putri Akal merupakan satu dari 17 naskah dalam khazanah Sastra Melayu Klasik yang menggunakan nama tokoh perempuan sebagai judul. Syair ini termasuk jenis syair romantis. Dalam naskah, ditemukan bentuk ketidakadilan gender dan sikap perlawanan untuk mempertahankan eksistensi. Penelitian ini akan berfokus terhadap tokoh utama, yaitu Putri Akal. Tokoh ini merupakan representasi perempuan yang mengalami ketidakadilan sehingga melakukan perlawanan. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk (1) menyajikan hasil tinjauan bentuk ketidakadilan gender yang dialami tokoh utama dan (2) menyajikan hasil tinjauan bentuk perlawanan ketidakadilan gender yang dilakukan oleh tokoh utama sebagai wujud eksistensi perempuan. Metode yang digunakan adalah deskriptif kualitatif dengan dua teori. Teori ketidakadilan gender oleh Fakih Mansour digunakan untuk menganalisis bentuk ketidakadilan gender pada tokoh utama, sedangkan teori feminisme eksistensialis oleh Simone de Beauvoir digunakan untuk menganalisis bentuk perlawanan tokoh utama sebagai wujud eksistensi perempuan. Hasil dari penelitian ini menunjukkan adanya bentuk ketidakadilan gender berupa subordinasi, stereotipe, dan kekerasan. Sementara itu, bentuk eksistensi perempuan yang terkandung dalam naskah adalah (1) perempuan harus dapat membuat keputusan sendiri, (2) perempuan berani melawan penindasan, dan (3) perempuan tidak hanya narsistik, tetapi juga dapat rasional.

Syair Putri Akal is one of 17 manuscripts in the treasure of Classical Malay Literature that uses the name’s female character as the title. This poem is a romantic poem. In the text, gender inequity and attitude of resistance are found to maintain existence. This research will focus on the main character, Putri Akal. She is representation women who are inequity so that fight back. This research aims to (1) present the gender inequity of the main character and (2) present the form resistance by the main character as women's existence. The method used is descriptive qualitative with two theories. The theory of gender inequity by Fakih Mansour is used to analyze the form gender inequity, while the existentialist feminism theory by Simone de Beauvoir is used to analyze the form resistance as women's existence. The results are forms of gender inequity of subordination, stereotype, and violence. Meanwhile, the forms of women's existence are (1) women must be able to make their own decisions, (2) women have the courage to fight oppression, and (3) women not only narcissistic, but also rational."
