"Ameloblastoma merupakan jenis tumor odontogenik yang umumnya jinak. Namun demikian, kurang dari 2% kasus ameloblastoma mengalami metastasis, terutama ke paru. Kami melaporkan satu kasus ameloblastik karsinoma dengan metastasis di kedua paru setelah 10 tahun pasca reseksi tumor primer dan 2 tahun pasca kemoterapi.

AbstractAmeloblastoma is a type of odontogenic tumor and generally considered as a benign tumor. However, less than 2% of ameloblastoma were found to have metastases, mostly to the lung. We reported a case of 46-year-old man presenting with an ameloblastic carcinoma with lung metastases 10 years after the primary tumor was resected and 2 years after chemotherapy. "Lesi tuberkulosis dapat terjadi bersamaan dengan keganasan sehingga menyulitkan diagnosis. Satu kasus karsinoma usus besar yang bersamaan dengan lesi tuberkulosis di tempat yang sama dilaporkan. Tubercular lesion may coexist with malignancy in various sites resulting in difficulties in diagnosing the conditions. A case of carcinoma caecum associated with tubercular lesion in the same site is reported. The patient have completed the antitubercular therapy and is now on regular anticancer chemotherapy. Till now the patient is doing fine. (Med J Indones 2004; 14: 128-30)"

"AbstrakA 43-year old male presented with persistent discomfort and pain upper abdomen (epigastrium) more on left side associated with fever on and off, along with fatigue and loss of appetite for the last four months. Physical examination revealed mass on left hypochondrium extending to epigastrium with mild distension of the abdomen. Imaging studies of the patient showed dextrocardia on chest x-ray postero-anterior (PA) view, thoracic and abdominal CT scan showed situs inversus totalis with multiple SOL (space occupying lesion) in right lobe of liver with largest measuring 8x6 cm2 in the 4th segment. USG-guided FNAC of the mass showed features of hepatocellular carcinoma. Thereupon, hepatocellular carcinoma in situs inversus totalis was diagosed to this patient and was clinically staged as T3aN0M0. He was given sorafenib 400 mg orally twice daily with an advice to come for regular assessment every 4 week."

"Primary hyperaldosteronism is an adrenal abnormality in which there is some degree of autonomy of aldosterone secretion. We report a case of thirty three years old Javanese female presented with uncontrolled hypertension, muscular weakness, cramps and progressing shortness of breath during working for 6 years. She had history of hypertension since age 20. Her serum potassium level was always low that associated with inappropriate kaliuresis. Blood gas analysis revealed metabolic alkalosis. Sonography of the adrenal gland showed right hipoechoic architecture; CT scan of the abdomen confirmed an right adrenal tumor measured 4 cm in its greatest dimension. Endocrine evaluation revealed high plasma aldosterone concentration, suppressed plasma renin activity, aldosterone/renin ratio of 112 and confirmed the diagnosis of primary aldosteronism. She underwent unilateral adrenalectomy. Histopathological report from excised adrenal tumor were compatible to benign adrenocortical adenoma. The patient discharge home with well controlled blood pressure and normokalemia. No clinical symptoms was reported in follow-up."

"Nasopharyngeal carcinoma (NPC) is still a significant health problem due to its relatively high incidence. Rarely, NPC could extend and involve the oral cavity, and may present as an ulceration or exophytic mass. Objectives: To discuss the rare clinical appearance of NPC involving the oral cavity and the significant role of dentists in its diagnosis and management. Case Report: We reported 3 cases of NPC with oral cavity involvement. In the first two cases, the patients presented with persistent oral ulceration with bone exposure and perforation to the above structure. The third patient presented with an ulcerated exophytic mass with temporomandibular disorder. The ulceration occurred due to bone destruction by the expansion of NPC mass, which indicated advance stage of the disease. All patients were managed with twice a day 0.2% chlorhexidine gluconate rinsing in combination with placing a chlorhexidine-moistened gauze to inhibit bacterial overgrowth and prevent secondary infection. The use of chlorhexidine was substituted by saline solution during patients’ radiotherapy and chemotherapy cycles. Conclusion: Dentist’s awareness to recognize the oral cavity involvement of NPC as well as recognizing the symptoms of NPC is very important, in order to make appropriate diagnosis and oral management. The oral management will eventually affect treatment outcome and quality of life."
