"Urban Sketching merupakan aktivitas membuat sketsa secara langsung di lokasi. Dalam proses melakukan urban sketching, sketchers menjadi pengamat yang mengamati ruang urban dan karakteristik visual pemandangan perkotaan yang ada. Saat membuat sketsa secara langsung, banyak faktor yang mempengaruhi prosesnya, salah satunya adalah townscape yang ada di ruang urban. Townscape menerangkan pentingnya elemen-elemen visual dalam menciptakan pengalaman visual yang memuaskan. Saat suatu kelompok urban sketcher berada dalam satu kawasan yang sama, pemandangan yang ditangkap ke dalam sketsa dapat berbeda, hal itu dapat terjadi karena cerita personal yang ingin dituangkan ke dalam sketsa saat mengamati ruang, cerita tersebut selalu memiliki komponen townscape pada ruang urban yang dapat dieksplorasi dan dituangkan dengan berbagai cara berbeda ke dalam bentuk sketsa. Pada skripsi ini dilakukan studi kasus di area semi outdoor untuk pejalan kaki, yaitu Gading Walk, dan membandingkan elemen townscape yang ada di setiap sketsa.

Urban Sketching is an activity to make sketches directly on location. In the process of urban sketching, sketchers become observers who observe urban space and the visual characteristics of existing urban scenery. When sketching directly on the location, many factors influence the process, one of which is the townscape of urban spaces. Townscape explains the importance of visual elements in creating a satisfying visual experience. When a group of urban sketchers are in the same area, the scenery captured in the sketches can be different, this can happen because of the personal story that they want to put into the sketch when observing spaces, the story always has townscape components in urban space which can be explored and poured in many different ways into sketches. In this thesis, a case study is carried out in a semi-outdoor pedestrian area, namely Gading Walk, and compares the townscape elements in each sketch."
