Research concerning effect of student aid to certain outcomes rarely come to academic discourse in Indonesia. One of the first research on said topic was carried by Cameron(2009) who investigate the effect of Jaringan Pengaman Sosial(JPS) in decreasing drop out rate after Asian Crisis in 1998. Other study that investigated effect of student aid found positive correlation between aid grant and college participation; and negative association between aid and probability to drop out from college. This research investigated effect of student aid on labor market outcome in term of wage. Due to indirect effect of aid to wage, thus we need intermediary variable represented by year of schooling. I utilized IFLS 4 and IFLS 5 data with dynamic-cross section approach. I employed two stage least square to break down the effect of aid on year of schooling and effect of year of schooling on wage. I found for each person who received aid on 2007 have higher year of schooling compare to their non-recipient counterpart around 0.90-0.99 year. For each 1 year increase in year of schooling correlated with increase of wage around 6.3-7.3%. Thus student aid has affected wage around 5,67%-7,23%. However, the main issue of this research were limited and small sample, inclusion error in it aid receipient, and domicile bias of Java and Urban.

"This thesis, “Improving Student Loans in Zimbabwean Higher Education: A Case Study of Midlands State University,” addresses critical issues in the accessibility and effectiveness of student loans at MSU. The study explores barriers to accessing student loans, such as bureaucratic inefficiencies, stringent requirements, procedural delays, high interest rates, inflexible repayment schedules, and lack of transparency, all of which are exacerbated by Zimbabwe’s economic instability. The study uses qualitative research methods. To improve loan accessibility, the study recommends reformulating eligibility criteria to focus on students’ financial need and academic performance, introducing alternative repayment options such as work-study programs, improving communication through workshops, and offering fixed-rate loans and emergency funds. Collaboration with government and the private sector for loan guarantees or subsidies is also proposed. Drawing on Credit Rationing Theory, the study provides a framework for policymakers and administrators to create a more inclusive and supportive financial environment, encouraging higher educational attainment and economic mobility.

Students from low-income families often face challenges in adapting to campus life dynamics, even with the support of affirmative policies such as scholarship programs. This condition reflects a psychosocial vulnerability that may affect their quality of life, especially during a critical developmental stage, emerging adulthood. At this stage, individuals are in the process of identity exploration, building meaningful social relationships, and setting the direction of their future lives. In this context, subjective well-being becomes crucial. It refers to the extent to which individuals feel satisfied with their lives and frequently experience positive rather than negative emotions. Social support plays an important role by fostering a sense of security, acceptance, and connection to the surrounding environment. Meanwhile, self-efficacy reflects a person’s belief in their ability to face challenges and achieve goals. The lack of these two factors may lead students from low-income families to experience lower levels of subjective well-being compared to their peers. This study aims to identify the relationship between social support and self-efficacy with the subjective well-being of Kartu Jakarta Mahasiswa Unggul (KJMU) scholarship recipients at Universitas Indonesia (UI). The research employed a quantitative approach with a cross-sectional design, conducted from February to May 2025. The instruments used included the Subjective Well-Being Scale, the Multidimensional Scale of Perceived Social Support (MSPSS), and the General Self-Efficacy Scale (GSES). A total of 181 KJMU recipient students at Universitas Indonesia participated in the study. The collected data were analyzed using Microsoft Excel and SPSS to obtain an overview and to examine the relationships between the variables. The results showed that most students had high levels of subjective well-being and social support, while self-efficacy was at a moderate level. Analysis using Somers’ D test indicated a positive relationship between social support and subjective well-being (D = .299, p < .001), as well as between self-efficacy and subjective well-being (D = .255, p < .001). Although the strength of these relationships was categorized as weak, the findings demonstrate that both social support and self-efficacy play an important role in supporting students’ subjective well-being. These findings emphasize that having a strong sense of self-efficacy and perceiving adequate social support are essential in enhancing the quality of life among university students, particularly those from underprivileged backgrounds. The results are expected to serve as a basis for designing more inclusive and responsive psychosocial support policies and practices for scholarship recipients."

Currently, depression is one of the main contributors to mental health problems in the world. Mental health disorders and poverty are like a vicious circle because poor mental health causes loss of productivity and poverty can cause mental health to deteriorate. Therefore, cash transfers can be a policy that targets poor households' economic conditions, which will impact mental health. This study tries to look at the impact of conditional cash transfers in education, the Poor Student Assistance (BSM) program, on parents' mental health as seen from the potential for symptoms of depression. Using data from the Indonesian Family Life Survey (IFLS) 5 and the Propensity Score Matching method, the results show that the BSM program significantly reduces parents' potential for depression symptoms, especially household heads whose children receive BSM. Thus, this study shows that an intervention program for basic human capital needs for children can increase the mental health of parents."

This study aims to analyse the impact of the Bidikmisi or Kartu Indonesia Pintar (KIP) Kuliah programme on the waiting time and earnings of graduates in West Java Province. The study uses a sample of 3,627 individual data of college graduates in West Java Province reported in the 2023 Higher Education Tracerstudy Report. This study uses the Propensity Score Matching (PSM) method to estimate the impact of the programme. The results of the analysis show that there is not enough evidence to suggest that the acceleration of graduates’ waiting time and the increase in graduates’ income are actually caused by the Bidikmisi/KIP Kuliah programme, although there are indications of accelerated waiting time and increased income of graduates receiving the programme in West Java Province. Therefore, further analysis is needed to strengthen confidence in the robust impact of the Bidikmisi/KIP Kuliah programme on the waiting time and income of graduates in West Java Province."
