ABSTRACT
Banks have been persistently improving their efficiency  by closing branches. In this case study, bank's current method in determining the branch closure prioritization has not reflect the efficiency level of the branches. Therefore, this research is intended to identify the efficiency of the branches to be used as the quantitative parameter in branch closure analysis. This study uses a non-parametric approach of Data Envelopment Analysis (DEA) to examine the efficiency and productivity change of branch offices at one of the large banks in Indonesia. The one-stage DEA was used to generate the relative efficiency score, and the input-oriented Variable Return to Scale (VRS) assumption is adopted in data analysis based on the production approach. The Malmquist Productivity Index was also adopted to measure the total factor productivity change to indicate the improvement or deterioration of the branch performance. The results show that several closed branches in 2019 and 2020 were considered efficient, with increasing productivity. It suggests that the existing branch closure analysis was mostly done qualitatively and with the absence of efficiency measurement. Thus, the efficiency parameter can be adopted as quantitative analysis to enrich bank's branch closure decision-making process as well as to reflect bank's efficiency objective."

"This casebook demonstrates that the future of global business lies in how well the multinational landscape is charted and how the importance of Asian market leaders is deeply embedded in it. It offers international management students and researchers an extensive guide to the business history, strategy development, and foreign market entry modes used by emerging Asian multinationals. The cases focus on well-known companies such as Lenovo, Alibaba, Infosys, Huawei, Panasonic, and Rakuten. These companies, all of which generate huge revenues in their own countries (e.g. in China, India, South Korea, Taiwan, Vietnam), are now becoming increasingly sophisticated and striving to become global brands, while also enjoying the active support of their governments in terms of their international business.
Readers will learn about the current multinational landscape in Asia, the management challenges, and the future implications for traditional western companies seeking to retain their market share. Chapters on corporate entrepreneurship, human resource management and intercultural competence, and current branding trends in Asia will provide a cutting-edge update on international business strategy for students and practitioners alike."

"The "made in China" label has long dominated the lower end of the US manufacturing industry, effectively squeezing it out of existence. That's old news. What most people don't know is that China's global reach now extends much further. Chinese companies have entered higher-end markets-technology, financial services, transportation, energy - and are emerging as powerhouse multinationals. "In the Shadow of the Dragon" is a meticulously researched expose of the most competitive companies in China. Based on interviews with Chinese business leaders and original case studies, the book provides: profiles of key players; insights into subtle yet powerful strategies used to gain market dominance; an understanding of the Chinese approach to going global; analysis of the Chinese way of innovation; and advice on competing head-to-head or forming alliances with Chinese partners. Part primer, part survival guide, "In the Shadow of the Dragon" is the first book to lay bare the challenges looming ahead."

This study investigates the effect of ESG Score on firm performance (operational, financial, and market) in environmentally sensitive industries. This study analyzes the effect of ESG score to firm performance before and during the Covid-19 pandemic crisis in emerging market countries to see from different perspectives to complement the gaps in existing research. To test the hypotheses, researcher used regression with panel data using the Thomson Reuters Refinitiv Eikon™ database to analyze data from 704 environmentally sensitive listed companies selected from 16 emerging market countries between 2016 and 2021. The findings obtained from the empirical results show that there is no significant relationship between ESG Score and operational performance (ROA), financial performance (ROE) and market performance (TQ) of companies before the Covid-19 pandemic crisis. Another finding is that there is no significant relationship between ESG Score and ROA, ROE and TQ during the pandemic crisis. This study highlights whether the Covid-19 pandemic contributes to the relationship between ESG Score and firm performance, especially for environmentally sensitive industries in emerging market countries."
