"Skripsi ini melihat proses mempertahankan ideologi supremasi kulit putih dan subjektifikasi karakter Django dalam penanaman ideologi kulit putih pada film Django Unchained (2012) dengan didasarkan pada analisis hubungan Django dengan karakter lainnya. Kemunculan film ini pada masa post-racial society di Amerika dapat dilihat sebagai bentuk kritik atas paham tersebut dan akan dianalisa untuk mendekonstruksinya. Pendekatan yang digunakan dalam skripsi ini adalah teori hegemoni Gramsci yang sudah dikembangkan oleh Stuart Hall dalam konteks rasial serta teori Subjek dan Aparat Ideologis oleh Louis Althusser.Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk melihat proses hegemoni yang dibangun untuk mempertahankan supremasi kulit putih dan memperjelas status antara yang dikuasai dan yang menguasai. Lalu, penelitian ini juga melihat bagaimana seseorang yang sudah terinterpelasi meneruskan ideologi yang sudah tertanam di dalam dirinya untuk dilihat juga sebagai bentuk supremasi kulit putih. Selain itu, Analisa hubungan karakter menjadi penting dilakukan karena hubungan Django dengan karakter kulit putih lainnya merepresentasikan hubungan kelompok minoritas dan mayoritas. Dengan ditemukannya hasil - hasil penelitian ini, dapat dikatakan bahwa film Django Unchained adalah medium untuk membangun hegemoni dan mempertahankan supremasi kulit putih.

This undergraduate thesis examines how the process of maintaining the ideology of white supremacy and how Django's character is constructed as a subject in planting white ideology in the movie Django Unchained (2012) based on the analysis of Django's relationship with other characters. The appearance of the movie during the phenomenon of post-racial society in America can be seen as a form of criticism of the ideology, and the movie will be analyzed to deconstruct it. The approaches used in this thesis is Stuart Hall's interpretation of Gramcis's Hegemony in the context of racial, and ideological state apparatuses by Louis Althusser.

This study aims to look at the process of hegemony to maintain white supremacy and clarify the status of the controller and the controlled. Then, this research also see how Django, who has been interpelated, continues the ideology that has been ingrained in him as a form of white supremacy. Moreover, analysis of the characters' relationship becomes important because Django's relationship with the other white characters represent minority and majority group relations. With the results of this study, the movie Django Unchained is a medium to build and maintain the hegemony of white supremacy."

ABSTRACTFor the Koreans, the ups and downs in Republic of Korean ROK and United States rsquo US military and constitutional relationship together with the history and memory of Korean civil war bring both the positive and negative opinions about their biggest ally, United States, up to the society. And in South Korea, entertainment becomes the most effective media to bring up the issues about US together with the usage of mass media. Through the nationalism perspective, this study will use Connor rsquo s ethno nationalism as the analytical framework to analyze and interpret how the Korean TV series The King 2 Hearts 2012 can lead the audience into having the anti American sentiment. By examining the plot, dialogues, and characters in the TV series, the argument of the way the TV series leads the Korean audience rsquo s minds into forming the Anti Americanism sentiment using the memories of Korean civil war, the growing sense of brotherhood that remained in the relation between South and North Korea, and the hatred towards United States will be proven. "Kemahiran berbicara adalah salah satu kompetensi yang harus dikuasai mahasiswa semasa belajar di universitas. Pada kenyataannya, beberapa studi menunjukkan bahwa kemahiran berbicara mahasiswa masih dipertanyakan karena kurangnya motivasi dalam belajar yang berakibat pada ketidakpercayaan diri untuk mempraktekkannya sehari-hari. Studi ini akan berfokus pada orientasi mahasiswa UI tingkat akhir yang dapat dikategorikan menjadi instrumental dan integratif dalam korelasinya kepada kemahiran berbicara. Data menunjukkan bahwa mayoritas dari partisipan cenderung memiliki orientasi instrumental daripada integratif. Data juga menunjukkan bahwa adanya korelasi positif antara orientasi mahasiswa dengan kemahiran berbicara dalam bahasa Inggris.

Students speaking proficiency is one of the competencies that should be acquired throughout their study in university. Regrettably, studies show that students speaking skill is still questionable due to their lack of motivation that makes them hesitate to practice more. This study will focus on UI sophomore students orientation which can be distinguished to instrumental and integrative in correlation to their speaking proficiency. It is found that the majority of the participants tend to have instrumental rather than integrative orientation and high motivational level in learning. Positive correlation is also found between students orientation and their speaking proficiency."

"ABSTRAK Inside Out merupakan sebuah film yang menggambarkan pengaturan sistem pikiran manusia. Film ini menampilkan ilustrasi dari proses perkembangan psikologis yang terjadi pada alam bawah sadar menurut teori Freud mengenai kepribadian. Teori ini ditampilkan melalui sebuah penggambaran alegori melalui ilustrasi mekasime pikiran manusia yang rumit dengan melakukan personifikasi pada karakter-karakter yang mengatur sistem tersebut. Masalah yang difokuskan pada film ini adalah dominasi sebuah emosi, yaitu Joy, dalam mengontrol Riley. Dominasi yang cenderung menekan peran emosi lain dianggap sebagai sebuah mekanisme pertahanan untuk melindungi Riley dari perasaan tidak menyenangkan. "ABSTRAKSkripsi ini menganalisis novel Shooting Kabul yang meninjau peristiwa 9/11 dari perspektif seorang young adult keturunan Arab-Muslim di Amerika. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode deskriptif analitis data yang diperoleh melalui telaah teks. Analisis kemudian dikaitkan dengan teori dan pemetaan post-9/11 literature dan Arabic young adult literature. Penulis berargumen bahwa novel Shooting Kabul mengajak pembaca untuk tidak hanya memahami Amerika pasca 9/11 sebagai sebuah entitas multikultural, tetapi juga untuk melihat isu Islamophobia dan war on terror terhadap lingkup, seperti yang diistilahkan oleh Rothberg, ekstrateritori dari sudut pandang seorang young adult. Kesimpulan akhir dari analisis ini adalah, Shooting Kabul semakin menambah kompleksitas kesusasteraan Amerika karena merekonstruksi peristiwa 9/11 ke dalam sebuah struktur narasi yang lebih global tanpa menggunakan logika hitam-putih. Oleh karena itu, doktrin yang menjurus pada dualisme West versus Islam dapat dihindarkan pada para pembaca young adult.

ABSTRACTThis undergraduate thesis analyzes Shooting Kabul novel, which discusses U.S.’s post-9/11 world from an Arab-Muslim young adult’s perspective. The methodology used is analytical descriptive, and the theories are post-9/11 literature and Arabic young adult literature theories. I argue that Shooting Kabul brings the readers not only to see the U.S. in the post-9/11 context as a multicultural country, but also to see Islamophobia and war on terror issues in the extraterritorial scope. To conclude, Shooting Kabul adds U.S.’s post-9/11 literature complexities because it reconstructs 9/11 into more global narration without using black-and-white logic. In the end, doctrines that lead to West versus Islam dualism could be avoided for young adult readers."

"Tesis ini membahas pesan terkait keluarga dalam retorika pidato dari presiden terpilih Amerika Serikat ke-44 Barack Obama yang pertama kali dalam sejarah, merupakan keturunan kulit hitam atau mixed-race. Pesan tentang keutuhan keluarga serta peran orang tua tunggal mengambil data dari lima buah teks pidato Presiden Obama di era kepemimpinan pertama yakni tahun 2008-2012. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah metode kualitatif dengan dasar teori Retorika Aristoteles dan lima pertanyaan teoritik model komunikasi Harold D. Laswell yakni siapa, berkata apa, menggunakan media apa, kepada siapa, dan apa pengaruhnya serta pendekatan-pendekatan lainnya. Dari hasil penelitian ini diperoleh bukti bahwa pesan tentang keutuhan keluarga serta peran orang tua tunggal yang dibungkus narasi politik American dream yang dilakukan Obama masih relevan diutarakan di zaman modern dengan tantangan yang begitu kompleks ini. Masyarakat Amerika Serikat nyatanya tetap membutuhkan hal-hal baik dan ideal yang diutarakan oleh seorang pemimpin negara melalui retorika pidato yang disampaikannya.

This thesis examines family related messages in the rhetoric speech of US President-elect Barack Obama 44th which for the first time in a history, is a descendant of black or mixedrace. Messages on the family unity and the role of single parent are retrieved as data from five text of the speech of President Obama in the first leadership era 2008-2012. The method used is qualitative based on Aristotle Rhetoric theory and the Harold D. Laswel?s model, specifically looking at top five theoretical questions that are: who, says what, in which channel, to whom, and with what effect and other approaches. The results of this study showed evidences that the message of family unity and the role of single parent wrapped up in the political narrative of the Obama?s American Dream is still relevant in this modern era . US society, in fact still requires, such ideals to be expressed by a head of state through the rhetoric speeches ."

"Skripsi ini menganalisis Ancillary Justice, sebuah buku fiksi ilmiah karangan Ann Leckie. Melalui analisis tekstual, skripsi ini meneliti bagaimana Ancillary Justice mendekonstruksi pengertian gender yang normatif, khususnya konstruksi gender biner. Hasil penelitian menemukan bahwa Ancillary Justice mendekonstruksi sistem gender biner melalui bahasa eksperimental, masyarakat fiksional, dan karakter androgini. Pertama, dalam bahasanya yang eksperimental, penggunaan kata ganti feminin menghasilkan narasi yang mengkritisi pemahaman dan anggapan kita mengenai gender. Kedua, novel ini membangun sebuah masyarakat fiksional dengan sistem gender non-biner, yang menunjukkan bagaimana gender berfungsi dalam sebuah masyarakat. Ketiga, novel ini menampilkan karakter-karakter androgini yang berfungsi sebagai metafora dinamika gender, menunjukkan bagaimana sifat-sifat maskulin dan feminin bisa berinteraksi dalam diri kita, dan akibat dari interaksi tersebut. This undergraduate thesis focuses on Ancillary Justice, a science fiction novel by Ann Leckie. Through textual analysis, this research explores how Ancillary Justice deconstructs normative construction of gender, specifically the gender binary. This research finds that Ancillary Justice deconstructs gender binary through its experimental language, fictional society, and androgynous characters. First, in its experimental language, the novel rsquo s use of the feminine pronouns interrogates our existing understanding of gender and how we view gender. Second, the novel constructs a post binary gender society that highlights how gender functions in society. Third, the novel portrays androgynous characters that function as parables of gender dynamics, showing us the various ways that masculinity and femininity can interact within ourselves, and what can result from such relations. By examining the workings of this novel, this research hopes to bring to light how fiction, especially science fiction, can perform subversion and offer alternatives to imagine gender."
