"Suhu permukaan laut (spl} merupakan salah satu parameter oseanografi yang sering digunakan untuk memprediksi kondisi cuaca, dinamika air laut, gerombolan ikan, El Nino ataupun La Nina. Pemetaan spl daerah yang cukup luas dengan waktu yang relatip bersamaan, tidak mungkin bisa dilakukan dengan menggunakan data dari hasil pengukuran langsung di perairan (insitu). Satu cara yang bisa melakukannya adalah dengan memanfaatkan data penginderaan jauh yang dihasilkan dari sensor yang menangkap spektral inframerah. Perolehan spl pada penelitian ini dilakukan dengan memanfaatkan data satelit NOAA 14 sensor AVHRR kanal 4 (10,3 -- 11,3 µm) dan kanal 5 (11,5 -12,5 pm). Dengan menggabungkan metoda Singh dan metoda Mc Millin & Crosby (1984) pads daerah yang bebas awan nilai spl dari data satelit NOAA rata-rata lebih kecil 1°C dibandingkan dengan spl insitu. Hasil pemetaan spl secara temporal dan bulan Agustus sampai Nopember 1997, kondisi perairan laut Jawa mengalami kenaikan suhu 0,5 °C setiap bulan dan diperkirakan di perairan pantai selatan Jawa terjadi peristiwa upwelling."

"The technique of measuring the profile of the surface of a three dimensional object shape is by using structured-light technique, where the object to be measured is placed on flat surface. The source of the light controlled by a fixed pattern at a certain distance and angle is directed to the object. By placing a grating pattern between the object to be measured and the source of the light, so the grating pattern will be projected on the object and then will form an interferometric fringes.An image resulted from the projecting process is recorded through a camera which produces analog signal, and then is changed into digital image using analog to digital converter. The data of the digital image resulted is analysed by using computer.The spherical equation of the object to be measured without placing the object on flat surface can be determined by using the least-square method then by using data samples of light lines projected on the object, the light of the object can be measured by substracting the spherical component of the object measured. By doing so the whole shape of a three-dimensional object can be determined using interpolation."
