"ABSTRACT
This study has been conducted to obtain possible correlation between Calcium concentration in the enamel of Incisive deciduous teeth of 6 to S years children in the Elementary school and tee caries experience of the same teeth.
The hypothesis is teat the caries experience is in parallel correlation with the Calcium concentration of, the affected teeth. The cross sectional study involves 53 selected children among 327 children examinee. Factor which influences the concentration of Calcium in tr7e enamel is the intake of Calcium of samples when they were still babies, whereas factor which influences caries is the plaque. It is found that there is no correlation between higher Calcium concentration and less caries experience (p>0.005). There is no significant difference in the concentration of Calcium between negative and positive caries children (p >. 0.05).
No significant difference is also found in the intakes Calcium of samples when they were still babies correlated with the concentration of Calcium in the enamel of samples (p > 0.05). There is no significant correlation between the caries experience and the plaque level 0.05).
The hypothesis is not supported by the data obtained. Higher Calcium concentration in enamel is not related to less caries experience. Longitudinal study which involves higher sample number is needed to observe the interaction of one variable to another to achieve better result of the similar study."

"Seventy six PEM (-2SD WFA) anemic (Hb 8 <10g0d1) children aged 2 - < 5 years were randomly divided into a treatment group and a control group. For two months, the treatment group received Fe + Yrt C (30 mg el. iron + 20 mg Vit C) while the control group received Vit C (20 mg) atone. Neither the subject nor the distributor could distinguish between the two types of supplements. Anthropometrics, hematological, and dietary evaluations were conducted before and after the study. Corrections were made for parasitic infestations before the intervention phase.
Fe + Vd C has showed significant effects on Improving the nutritional status of subjects in terms of hematological (Hb , serum ferritin, and MCV) and anthropometrics indices (weight, and height). It was also found out that it has significant effect on HAZ of subjects as compared with the effect of Vit C. Vit C has showed significant effects on weight and height but not on hematological status.
It was concluded in this study that Fe has significant effect on increasing linear growth since no significant change was found in energy intake.

"ABSTRACT
The relationship between serum vitamin A level and protein-energy status of 61 children in Jakarta was studied. The children 1 - 6 years old either received vitamin A supplements at various times, or never received any vitamin A supplements at all.
There was a high prevalence of PEM among the sample and their energy and vitamin A consumption were low, though protein intake was adequate.
The serum vitamin A levels of PEM children who received vitamin A supplements tended to decline more rapidly with time after supplementation compared to their non-PEM counterparts.
A positive correlation, though weak, was also observed between serum vitamin A level and Wt/Age of the children.
It was thus concluded that the fast decline in serum vitamin A level of PEM children could predispose them to vitamin A deficiency despite vitamin A supplementation. It was also suggested that further investigation is needed on the relationship between Wt/age and serum vitamin A level, because if such a relationship is established, Wt/age could be a very useful index for identifying children who are "at risk" of developing vitamin A deficiency."
