ABSTRAK
Fractures of the neck of condyle usually are the result of a blow to the mandible. A lateral blow to the body of the mandible commonly cause a contralateral condylar fracture. There are many signs and symptoms of a condylar fracture, for example crepitation, deviation of the mandible to the side of injury, and spasm of the associate group of muscles. These will result in a functional disability, which is usually seen as a limited mandibular movement. This paper reported a patient with a fracture of the right condylar neck. Patient had been treated with closed reduction and immobilization for 2 months. After that, she felt that her bite was charged, she could not occlude her teeth well, and she had clicking sound in the right joint when she opened her mouth. Besides that, patient had difficulties to move the mandible to the left side, and she could not open her mouth widely. The patient was treated with a repositioning splint and she had to do some jaw exercises. The purposes were to regain the position of condyle, to reduce the muscle spasm and finally got the normal jaw movement.

Stress is a known risk factor for Temporomandibular Disorders (TMD), however there are few studies of TMD in people who work in high stress jobs. Accounting is a profession known for its high levels of stress and expectation. Objective: The aim of this study is to investigate the relationship between the intensity and frequency of job related stress and the occurrence of TMD in accountants in Jakarta. Methods: A cross-sectional study, with ethics approval from the Ethical Committee of the Faculty of Dentistry, University Indonesia, was performed on 116 accountants aged 21 to 50, living in Jakarta. Subjects were asked to complete two questionnaires; the first was the Job Stress Survey questionnaire that examined the intensity and frequency of job related stress, and the second was the TMD Diagnostic Index, which assessed TMD prevalence. Results: Fisher?s exact test showed a significant relationship between the intensity of job related stress and the occurrence of TMD in accountants (p = 0.003). Chi-square tests showed a significant relationship between the frequency of job related stress and the occurrence of TMD in accountants (p = 0.032). Conclusion: There is a relationship between the intensity and frequency of job related stress, and the occurrence of TMD in accountants.

Joint sound is one of the signs of the temporomandibular joint disorder dan its characteristics are tought to be able to establish the gravity of the disorder. The aim of this study was to analyze the relation between the sound characteristics - its pitch and intensity - and the gravity of the temporomandibular joint disorder. The subjects of this research were 54 students who fulfilled the criteria included in the basic questionnaire which was distributed among all the 4th and 6th semester dental students of Faculty of Dentistry University of Indonesia. The gravity of the disorder was obtained from the subjective as well as the objective examination, using Helkimo index. 108 joint sound samples of the left and right joint were recorded during opening and closing movement of the mandible, using a modified stethoscope which was connected to a personal computer. The analysis of the joint sound characteristics was done with audio analysis software Cool Edit 2000. A one wat anova test showed a significant relation between the gravity of temporomandibular joint disorder and the intensity of the joint sound (p<0.05). The gravity of the disorder was equivalent to the intensity of the sound, however there was no significant relation between the joint sound pitch and the gravity of the temporomandibular joint disorder. It was concluded that the joint sound intensity was worthy of further study as a sign of diagnostic value.
