ABSTRACT
The village communities in Indonesia are known as having extraordinary wisdom in maintaining their respective living resources. They have future-vision thinking and deeply understand to pick the meaning of biodiversity in the daily life.

Desa adat Tenganan Pegringsingan is a traditional village located in the eastern Bali, 17 km. from Karangasem and 65 km from the capital city Denpasar. The settlement is situated in a valley surrounded by a range of hills from east, north to west. The hill in the east is called 'Bukit kangin' in north is called 'Bukit kana' and in the west is called 'Bukit kauh'. The village represents one of the ancient villages in Bali inhabited by the Bali Aga community with the special typical of life, social structure, traditions, custom, and religion principles different from those or other Balinese regions.

The hilly environment consisting of traditional forests, dry field, and orchards. These landscape unit are the community?s source of life. The landscape and its biodiversity are thought as still keeping their originality doe to the community's traditional knowledge and management of nature. The brief observation alone can show the result of a successful way of the peoples tradition in keeping their environment mostly intact.

The aim of this research is to gain an understanding of the traditional community's concept about their landscape and environment, their efforts in arranging the landscape unit and their contents as well as the management of natural resources in the context of the community?s social-culture- The research is conducted in exploratory manner using phenomenological approach to understand the people's opinion from their own viewpoint. It was etno-methodology that analyzes the community's viewpoint based on the original concept as expressed in their language.

Selections of samples are done with purposive sampling and the data are collected through an in-depth interview, direct participation and observation in the site. Data of the cover vegetation is investigated in the field through the micro landscape (home yard), the meso landscape (settlement landscape) and macro landscape (regional landscape). The cover vegetations of the home yard and the settlement landscape are gained through inventory. investigation of the regional landscape (macro landscape)is conducted through inventory of cover vegetations by tracking the ?kiasiran? in the hills. Recording of data of plants in each klasiran is done by grouping them into trees, bushes or clumps, herbs and liana together with their local and botanical names.

Data analyzes is using a combination of descriptive-qualitative and quantitative analysis which then presented in three papers, consisting of: 1) the oommunity's value that base on understanding of the landscape, 2) the study of spatial and the cover vegetations, and 3) the management of plant diversity by the community of Bali Aga Tenganan Pegringsingan.

The result of this study demonstrate that the philosophy of life, religion and the local community wisdom of the Tenganan Pegringsingan people are the basis of their understanding of the landscape which formed by their cosmological concept. The landscape is the creation of Ida Sang Hyang Widhi Wasa /the supreme being that constitutes the space of living, the source of water, the protecting place and the place to perform vertical and horizontal relationship.

The pattern and the structures of home yard, the settlement and the region landscape are formed by the integration of the Dualism concept, cosmological system (?Tapak Dara") and ?Tri Hita Karana? concept.

The basis of the people management of landscape and plant diversity are rooted from their social religious life, their strong culture institution, and the role of ?Desa pekraman? (the village member) itself. All these are in line with the mission of the sustainable development concept that supports the conservation ideas.

ABSTRACT
Jakarta is the Capital States which have much kind of societies. By seeing from the smallest unit of its society, therefore Jakarta is consisting of immeasurably community. One of them is waria community, which represents small scale of social whereby members could fulfill all their life or some through interdependence relation among them. All members or at least member of them, have tradition or attentions becoming their equality fastener element. They have norm, certainty, and regulation obeyed as a tying and also made guidance to ful fill requirement of its everyday.

Waria community has certain marked which differentiating with other communities in Jakarta. Waria represents men which have woman identities, where those identities emerge in interaction as confessed its existence by other people. They have different way in expressing each other identities. The difference of this expression made classifications form related to equality of marking among them. With in performance those classifications would emerge pursuant to each maturity of waria in running the role and express requirement of its soul.

As would we saw, the main problem of waria performance was causing of difficulty in determination of gender identity. In this matter they would have 2 conflicts i.e. psychological conflict and social conflict. Psychological conflict was related to adversative desire with the situation of its physical; while social conflict was related to eliminate them from life of ssociation and family and social opportunity to fulfill requirement of its life (in the field of employment).

Refer to Goffman (1986:14-5), among 2 existing stigma type i.e. one who is earn to be discreditable and the other one is who discredited. Waria is the one who "discredited stigma". The elimination of waria in social environment and economucs is because of their existence would debased and had made them worked as commercial sex worker for continuing their life. Therefore performance of waria represented product culture of waria as environment response which get stigma to have living and spiritual easiness, which did not outfont the activity context of waria environment and community though "market" in prostitution world.

Their performance would see as waria form by classifications based on woman attribute to manipulation man 's body through impression management to identity in every interaction. The attribute is to identify him/her self for showing their culture it self. According to context and interaction target, their appearance would selectively conduct by them self due to interaction with another community.

Comparison within dwelling area, performance in prostitution area would have more important for waria sex worker: Prostitution area is as strength corefor their factual life in represent interaction place to get money for utilize main requirement of 1%. Interaction at prostitution area became important between waria and service user. They would identity each other related to community and their culture. ln this congeniality, waria performance at prostitution area present through separate regulation base on cordidence and knowledge will use as a guidance for life within the classification system i.e. their own self relevant to environmental with classification of him/her self as a waria, waria service user, visitors and also prestige of waria from prostitution area.

Hereby, this original research would not been influence by other researcher who had picked the same subject. Dramaturgi concepts from Erving Goffman (1959, 1986) was influenced me in believing that dramaturgi theory as equality among the theater shows with the various role of type where our conduct and everyday interaction. Regarding this research, dramaturgi analysis would pay attention to problem of waria life in Jakarta everyday as it in an interaction. This theory would be acquainted with 2 important junctions in interaction (Goffman 1959: l7-30; Goffman 1959 in Poloma 2002 and Ritzer & Goodman 2004), that is front region and back stage.

Parsundi Suparlan (2004a) is also influence me in seeing waria stigma as coherence or equality stigma which sticky attached at some individuals. This would form the identity group with their own identity and aim to strengthen or seeking exploration their identity through to performance. Transaction, arrangement of categories, space domination cooperation, emulation, and conflict among themselves are need to have to accommodate the target market.

Approaching dissertation research of this is qualitative (Miles & Huberman I984; Suparlan 1994) where as collecting data, observation and circumstantial interviewed executing by participate. ln support of verify and current ethnography detail picture we were collecting waria datas in Jakarta and taking pictures by handy cam or camera for special activity at prostitution area, dwelling area, certain place where doing other activities such as field events, mall, Public Square, dangdut shows etc.

Abstract Efforts to empower people living in coastal areas made by the regional govemment of Gunungkidul over the past 20 years have produced results although these are not enjoyed by all the people. The region has seen people in coastal areas change jobs. The shifts from farmers to farming-fishermen and fishing-farmers may be due to the current circumstances, and to a certain extent will affect the sustain- ability of land and marine resources. The coastal community empowerment program to enable them to use and manage marine resources is the issue on which this research was based on. The research aimed at finding out how the empowerment activities affect the promotion of the people?s welfare and their participation in conservation the coastal environment so that efficient empowennent strategies can be set up or devised. The community empowerment basically aimed at developing the potentials of the studied coastal communities with respect to scientific knowledge, technologies and awareness of using the available resources so that their quality of life could improve. These changes were expected to promote people?s welfare and their level of participation in or concern for environmental protection. The research was conducted using the analytical-descriptive method with emphasis on the qualitative- approach; supporting data and statistical (quantitative) analysis were also furnished It studied the case of the empowerment program targeted at a group of people living in the coastal districts of Tepus and Tanjungsari in the regency of Gunungkidul, the program of which was supposed to enable them to use and manage the land, coastal and marine resources in the coasts of Baron, Drini, Sundak and Siung. The efforts to empower Eshennan in coastal of Gtmtmgkidul has been done for the Erst time in the coast of Baron in 1980 and then followed by the other coasts. Research results showed that the empowemient program to promote people?s welfare had not been enjoyed by all the fishing communities because the empowerment program which consisted of tive activities was not properly outlined and carefully planned, in terms of method, time and place. Local communities had not been able to use the abundant marine resources because of tl1e lack of technological advances. Socio-cultural conditions also hampered the adoption and sustained use of technology be use training on socio-cultural was very limited compared with the other more iiequent empowennent activities. Community participation in the environment conservation following the empowerment program was also not encouraging. People showed only awareness rather than actual steps or real actions toward fulfilment of economic requirements. The main objective of the program - promoting people?s welfare ~ had not been fully and sustainably achieved. The concept of a continued coastal community empowerment program should take into account live empowering activities: motivating the communities (motivation), skills training, management training, environment conservation training and socio-culture. In all these five activities, the socio-cultural element plays an important part. The whole program, processes and interconnected activities are part of a follow-up empowerment process within the framework of sustainable development to achieve the goal of the coastal people empowerment program to promote people?s welfare and to protect land, coastal and marine environments. Further programs should be carefully planned and emphasize on the socio-cultural aspect, particularly education, considering that coastal community members who are responsive to changes and innovations are vital to the programs. This research were expected can be used as reference in find out and analysis about the coastal community empowerment program, specially for region that almost have similar characteristics, in use and manage natural resources (land, coastal and marine) and the changes of economic, social and culture condition of farmer also the participation (farmer-iisherman) in manage natural resources following the empowerment progam (diversification of employment) implementation From this research can be excavate and reveal the pattern of communities life after the empowerment activities with respect to local social, economic and cultural patterns and related with their effort to the natural resources conservation to get the balancing and contiously of their sources of life.
