Grant-Williams, Renee
Abstrak :
Ever wonder what makes us buy from a certain salesperson or prefer one TV news announcer over another? In each case, a human voice is subtly captivating our ear and commanding our attention. Now celebrity voice coach Renee Grant-Williams reveals the trade secrets behind those persuasive voices and shows readers how to apply positive vocal techniques to business and personal situations. Much more than a guide to proper breathing or voice projection, this is a life-altering ""owner's manual"" to unleashing and directing the powers of communication within one's speaking voice.

This book is about recent research in the area of profiling humans from their voice, which seeks to deduce and describe the speaker's entire persona and their surroundings from voice alone. It covers several key aspects of this technology, describing how the human voice is unique in its ability to both capture and influence the human persona -- how, in some ways, voice is more potent and valuable then DNA and fingerprints as a metric, since it not only carries information about the speaker, but also about their current state and their surroundings at the time of speaking. It provides a comprehensive review of advances made in multiple scientific fields that now contribute to its foundations. It describes how artificial intelligence enables mechanisms of discovery that were not possible before in this context, driving the field forward in unprecedented ways. It also touches upon related and relevant challenges posed by voice disguise and other mechanisms of voice manipulation. The book acts as a good resource for academic researchers, and for professional agencies in many areas such as law enforcement, healthcare, social services, entertainment etc.

......Workers using their voices are considered professional or occupational voice users (OVU). Workers who utilize their voice extensively have a high risk of reduced voice quality which can be exacerbated by other risk factors, resulting in an increased risk of dysphonia. Identifying these risk factors is essential to minimize the risk of voice disorders in OVU and non-OVU workers while increasing workers' and companies' awareness of voice usage at work. This research is a cross-sectional study conducted in June-July 2022. MDVP data, demographics, and information about risk factors in workers were obtained by examining teachers who work at a school in Jakarta. From a total of 83 participants, it was found that OVU had significantly higher Jitter, NHR, and ATRI compared to non-OVU. From all participants, it was found that smoking caused a significantly higher Jitter, Shimmer, NHR, and ATRI. There was no significant difference in the sound analysis scores in participants with a risk of dehydration, alcohol consumption, and a history of hypertension or gastritis, yet this warrant careful interpretation because numerous pieces of literature have proven otherwise. Improving sound quality through avoiding risk factors and implementing voice hygiene and proper phonation may be helpful for OVU.

;Voice Behavior, as employee’s expression of innovative suggestion for organization, has many positive impacts for organizations. On the other hand, voice contains interpersonal risks for the actor. This study investigates this predicament of voice through highlighting the interaction between personal and situational factor, namely social cohesion, having ideas, voice efficacy, and voice per se. Data was collected from 244 civil servants. Statistical analysis showed that having ideas and voice efficacy were associated, respectively, negatively and positively with voice. Moreover, social cohesion has moderating (buffering) effect on the relationship between voice efficacy and voice. The implication of this study is discussed below. ;Voice Behavior, as employee’s expression of innovative suggestion for organization, has many positive impacts for organizations. The positive consequences of offering employees opportunities to express their opinions about the matters, concerns, and decisions related to their roles have been largely recognized (Bellavance, Landry, & Schiehll, 2013). These include a sense of ownership, inclusion, fairness of decisions, respect, and increased decisions acceptance by employees. However, rarely do any write about the potential negative outcomes of such organizational policies, specifically if they are deceitfully implemented. This research argues that under conditions where managers disregard the appropriate benefits of such policies, but implement them anyway for an apparent semblance of employee-consideration or due to organizational policy directives, this may lead their employees to be distrustful of such actions and consequently of the managers who implement them. This perceived deception of managers will lead to negative effects of these opportunities where employees are given a chance to voice their opinions, rather than foster positive benefits they have been designed for. In this research we studied the negative effects of such dubious implementation of this useful managerial strategy among the employees and managers of selected industries. We developed a survey to gather data from 317 respondents. Our findings suggest that the perceived negative effects of such mock opportunities results in employees’ increasingly lowered participative behaviour in such opportunities and increasingly higher conflict within organization.

ABSTRACT
Digital signal processing is concerned with the representation of signals by sequences of number or symbols and the processing of the sequences. The purpose of such processing may be to estimate characteristic parameters of a signal or to transform a signal into a form which is in some sense more desirable. The classical numerical analysis formulas, such as those designed for interpolation, integration, and differentiation, are certainly digital signal processing algorithms.

The early work on speech and the like - topics still of considerable interest and still the object of active research began less than two decade ago. The rapid development of the subject can be appreciated by scanning the issues of the leading journals. Yet the application of digital signal processing has not been without its problems. It is a field which demands sophisticated technology.
