"The absence of equivalents is an issue that has always been faced by translators in translating the source text. When translating proverbs, which are loaded with moral and cultural messages, translators are required to be able to transfer the messages appropriately. The different types of proverbs between French and Indonesian are a major cause of translators' difficulty in finding the equivalents in the form of proverbs. This issue was raised from the author's own experience in translating French fable by Jean de La Fontaine into Indonesian. By using the theory of Paremi and proverbs types of Bhuvaneswar (2000), French and Indonesian proverbs are analyzed in order to find the kinds of proverbs of the source language and the target language. It was found that the absence of equivalents in the form of Indonesian proverbs caused by the opposite of types of French proverbs and Indonesian proverbs. The majority of French proverbs are literal, whereas Indonesian proverbs are mostly metaphors. Data were taken from the fables of Jean de La Fontaine and its translation into Indonesian."

"Beberapa dekade terakhir, gim video telah menjadi salah satu bentuk hiburan yang paling diminati jutaan pengguna di seluruh dunia. Hal ini mendorong para pengembang dan penerbit gim menerjemahkan gimnya dengan tujuan meraup keuntungan dari penjualan gim di seluruh dunia. Namun, penerjemahan gim ini berpotensi menghilangkan keseruan dalam bermain gim apabila tidak diterjemahkan dengan baik dan sesuai dengan bahasa dan budaya negara sasaran penjualan. Di sinilah peran penting penerjemah untuk memberikan terjemahan berkualitas diperlukan. Teks sumber penelitian ini adalah takarir dari gim novel visual yang berjudul Eliza. Masalah penerjemahan pragmatis yang menjadi fokus dalam penelitian ini adalah eksplikatur dan implikatur. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa strategi penerjemahan kompensasi dan transkreasi merupakan strategi penerjemahan yang dapat membantu penerjemah untuk mengatasi kedua masalah terjemahan pragmatis. Kedua strategi penerjemahan ini memberikan kebebasan kepada penerjemah untuk berkreasi dalam menerjemahkan. Dalam proses penerjemahan, unsur non-verbal, seperti gambar dan suara dalam gim berperan penting untuk membantu peneliti memilih strategi penerjemahan yang tepat.

In the last few decades, video games have become one of the most in-demand forms of entertainment for millions of users around the world. This has prompted game developers and publishers to translate the games aiming to make a profit from worldwide game sales. However, translating the game has the potential to eliminate the enjoyment of playing the game if it is not translated well and is in accordance with the target language and culture. This is where a translator plays an important role to provide a high-quality translation. The source text of this study is the subtitles of a visual novel game called Eliza. Pragmatic translation problems that are the focus of this study are explicatures and implicatures. The result shows that compensation and transcreation are translation strategies that can help the translator resolve both pragmatic translation problems. Both of these translation strategies give the translator the freedom to be creative in translating. In the translation process, non-verbal elements, such as images and sounds in games, play an important role in helping the translator choose the right translation strategy."
