The growth of Jakarta residence mobility has demanded the Municipal Government of DKI Jakarta for providing achievable mass transport for the societies. The appropriate mass transport is railways, whose capacity is thousands passengers per trip. However, since the Jabotabek railway only accommodate 2 - 4 % of the total demand for transportation services, therefore the rest of the passengers are served by city buses, and other public transportation modes. Since the non air-conditioned city buses do not provide fast, punctual, secure and safe services, it causes the growth of private cars higher than that of public transport vehicles. Hence, in the peak hours, the private cars -- with 1 - 3 passengers --- occupy 75 % of the road, in the contrary, public transportation vehicles whose capacity per bus is 50 passengers in average, occupy only around 18%. This phenomenon leads traffic jam, which does not only waste fuel, time, energy and cost, but also creates air pollution and threat the health of the drivers, passengers as well as societies on the road. In addition, most of the transportation operators do not consider the importance of humanity approach in managing the company operation. The non air-conditioned buses' operators treat the drivers as a production mean, therefore they establish a rental fee system to their drivers with the amount of Rp 250,000,- for one shift (i.e. 8 hours operation) per regular bus. If the drivers can not pay the rental fee on that day, it means they do not only earn money for their family, but they also shoulder the debt which have to be paid on the day after. If it happens for 3 days at a stretch, the drivers will be fired. It causes the non air-conditioned buses' drivers do not only obey the traffic regulations, but they also do not care of the passengers safety and their own health as well. Therefore, the drivers always slow their buses down or stop at three-way intersections or intersections to wait for passengers, and afterwards they drive as fast as possible in order to seize the passengers of other buses in the same line, even sometimes in the same company. It can be said that these driving habits evoke accidents. On the other hand, these habits are not conducted by the air-conditioned buses' drivers, since their passengers are limited and most of them are from middle-class societies, who are willing to pay Rp 2,300,- for security and comfortability. A traffic accident is an unpredicted and unintentionally incident on the road, which involves vehicles with or without other road users resulted in human victims or property loss. In general, traffic accident is caused by 3 (three) factors, namely driver, vehicle, and road. The three factors are influenced by the environment.

......School is the place to increase knowledge in by learning. School location in the big city makes their school committee have to face and overcome the noise. It's because the noise disturbs students so they can not hear what was taught by the teacher. Noise control methods conducted by the school is to minimized the gaps that allow sound through. In addition, noise can be overcomes by using barriers like fence or trees around the school but they don't work their best. This thesis discusses how to control noise at the high school environment and its evaluation. The schools that evaluated are SMPN 115 Jakarta and SMAN 37 Jakarta 115 which are close to traffic. SMPN 115 Jakarta has highway traffic as its external noise while highway SMAN 37 Jakarta has the train traffic as external noise. This research was conducted by measuring the noise level, comparing the results with a standard measurement noise which is allowed, and analyzing the results with architectural studies. The results of this study are expected to help control the noise at school.
