"This book provides an insight of relevant case studies and updated practices in “Pharmaceutical
Supply Chains” (PharmSC) while addressing the most relevant topics within the COST Action “Medicines Shortages” (CA15105).
The volume focuses on the most recent developments in the design, planning and scheduling of
PharmSC, broadening from the suppliers’ selection to the impact on patients and healthcare
systems, addressing uncertainty and risk mitigation, and computational issues. It is directed at MSc/PhD students and young researchers (Post-Docs) in Pharmaceutics/Pharmaceutical sciences, Engineering fields, Economics/Management, as well as pharmaceutical decision makers, managers, and practitioners, and advanced readers demanding a fresh approach to decision making for PharmSC. The contributed chapters are associated with the homonymous COST Training Schools (TS), and the book creates a better understanding of the Action “Medicines Shortages” challenges and opportunities."

This research aims to explore Japan's political economic interests in the regulation of human rights protection in global supply chains. The concept of human rights in the global political economy is used as a guideline in conducting this research. This research uses qualitative methods with data collection techniques through literature studies. The findings in this study show that the Japanese government issued the Guidelines for Respecting Human Rights in Global Supply Chains to achieve political economy interests, namely to protect industries from business threats related to potential human rights violations such as what happened to Uniqlo in the practice of forced labour of Uighurs in China and to gain a leadership position in the Asian region by realising a ‘new international order originating from Asia’ related to the regulation of human rights protection in global supply chains. The Japanese government attaches importance to the regulation of human rights protection in global supply chains because it will help achieve full-fledged ‘human rights diplomacy’ under the Fumio Kishida administration.
