Abstrak :
Kesenjangan sosial serta krisis empati sebagai isu dalam film “Kleingeld” merupakan hal yang lekat dengan masyarakat urban. Dalam filmnya, Marc-Andreas Bochert menampilkan tokoh Hoffmann dan seorang pengemis yang memiliki perbedaan kondisi sosial. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode kualitatif dengan teori semiotika film Christian Metz dan konsep mentalitas urban Georg Simmel untuk menganalisis keterkaitan kehidupan urban perkotaan dengan kesenjangan sosial serta krisis empati yang digambarkan melalui adegan dalam film. Hasilnya adalah daerah urban perkotaan yang elite dan modern masih belum lepas dari isu kesenjangan sosial. Selain itu, karakteristik Hoffmann sebagai masyarakat urban yang individualis, rasional, dan materialis akhirnya menimbulkan krisis empati sehingga tidak dapat membangun hubungan yang baik dengan pengemis.
......The issues of social inequality and the crisis of empathy in the film “Kleingeld” are closely related to urban society. In his film, Marc-Andreas Bochert featured Hoffmann and a beggar with different social conditions. This study used qualitative method with Christian Metz's semiotics of the cinema theory and Georg Simmel’s concept of urban mentality to analyze the relationship between urban life with social inequality and the crisis of empathy that portrayed through scenes in the film. The result of this study indicated that elite and modern urban areas are still not free from the issue of social inequality. In addition, Hoffmann's characteristics as an individualist, rational, and materialist eventually lead to a crisis of empathy and thus could not establish good relationships with the beggar.

Abstrak :
This article is an analysis of the criticsms of the practice of education in Indonesia. This criticsm is based on the storyline presented in the "Laskar Pelangi" (LP) movie. This article aims to analyze the essence of the LP movie seen through the sociological perspective. The essence of the film is more focused on social ceriticsm conveyed through this film. Theoretically, education has two conflicting functions. According to the functions. According to the functional perspective, the positive function of education are transmit values across generations. Instead, the conflict perspective to explain that education actually leads to social inequality.More symbolic interactionism perspective see how the actors involved in the education process related to each other. Some of the criticism is delivered in between the formal education process that leaves the essence of education itself, the exclusivity of school functions, the formalization of education inequality of access to education for lower-class society that cause social inequality, educational autonomy have not fully autonomous and the dichotomy of your favorite school and favorite. These conditions that characterize the dynamics of national education so far has led to social inequality.
