.The development of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) has become a substantial matter in sustainable development, and in the urban context it support the development of smart cities. Smart home is a branch from smart cities that is applied in the residential context, and has positive impacts such as facilitating people with disabilities, increasing security, and managing effective use of energy. This paper is about finding the connection between the application of smart home technology and sustainable city development, and aspects that support the application of this technology so that it can later be utilized by the community. From several case studies on the application of smart home technology, technological literacy is an important aspect on operating smart home devices so that it can help them optimally. The government can also plays a role in the application of this technology by involving smart technology as a supporter of the country's development mission as has been done by Singapore. It is necessary to increase technological literacy in related areas, because this will support the development of technological infrastructure that can catalyze economic development, and the formation of mutually supportive communities."

"This book focuses on the role of interdependent infrastructure systems in such smart cities especially as it relates to timely and poignant questions about resilience and sustainability. In particular, the goal of this book is to present, in one volume, a consistent Hetero-Functional Graph Theoretic (HFGT) treatment of interdependent smart city infrastructures as an overarching application domain of engineering systems. This work may be contrasted to the growing literature on multi-layer networks, which despite significant theoretical advances in recent years, has modeling limitations that prevent their real-world application to interdependent smart city infrastructures of arbitrary topology. In contrast, this book demonstrates that HFGT can be applied extensibly to an arbitrary number of arbitrarily connected topologies of interdependent smart city infrastructures. It also integrates, for the first time, all six matrices of HFGT in a single system adjacency matrix.
The book makes every effort to be accessible to a broad audience of infrastructure system practitioners and researchers (e.g. electric power system planners, transportation engineers, and hydrologists, etc.). Consequently, the book has extensively visualized the graph theoretic concepts for greater intuition and clarity. Nevertheless, the book does require a common methodological base of its readers and directs itself to the Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) community and the Network Science Community (NSC). To the MBSE community, we hope that HFGT will be accepted as a quantification of many of the structural concepts found in model-based systems engineering languages like SysML. To the NSC, we hope to present a new view as how to construct graphs with fundamentally different meaning and insight. Finally, it is our hope that HFGT serves to overcome many of the theoretical and modeling limitations that have hindered our ability to systematically understand the structure and function of smart cities. "This book provides an overview of the most recent developments in Internet of Things (IoT) security and data protection. It presents the results of several international research projects addressing this topic from complementary angles. It starts by analyzing the main privacy and security threats on IoT, as well as the evolution of data protection norms, such as the European General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), and their impact on IoT. Through a comprehensive and systematic approach, the contributors present new perspectives on IoT & Cloud Computing security requirements. They discuss the most recent approach to support trusted IoT, including new models of privacy risk assessment, labeling and certification, and contractual tools (such as Privacy PACT). Practical implementations, such as in the European Large Scale Pilots on IoT for Smart Cities (Synchronicity), are presented, explaining how they address security, privacy and data protection. Finally, innovative models to secure IoT systems are presented for the network and end-nodes security, including network threats analysis.
Shares results from several international research projects on IoT, cybersecurity, and privacy;
Combines complementary expertise from top experts in IoT, security, and data protection;
Provides a comprehensive view on how to protect IoT deployments and make them comply with the GDPR."

"In rapidly urbanizing India, cities are places of conflict between people and nature. What is the future for conservation in Indian cities? Nature in the City examines the past, present, and future of nature in Bengaluru. One of Indias largest and fastest growing cities, Bengaluru was once known as the Garden City of India. The citys ecology and environment have been degraded and destroyed in recent years. Yet nature still exhibits a remarkable tenacity. The book has a broad historical focus. Moving from early settlements in the 6th century CE to the 21st century city, it concludes by outlining a vision of a better future. The book draws on extensive research, integrated with stories of people, places, and examples of positive change. Detailed chapters demonstrate how nature has looked, behaved, and has been perceived differently in the home gardens, slums, streets, parks, sacred spaces, and lakes of Bengaluru. Nature in the city is shaped by human preferences and prejudices, as the book demonstrates. Of interest to local residents, visitors, and outside readers alike, the present volume provides an accessible, informative, and interesting tour of the social spaces where nature thrives and strives in Bengaluru. With heterogeneous environments, population densities, and urban poor, cities like Bengaluru must pay attention to the cultural and social contexts within which nature is embedded. The book further suggests an organic approach for urban conservation in the Indian context that builds on the capacities of people and communities, drawing on the close integration of the socio-cultural and ecological in urban India.

"Prepare yourselves for the coming Cyber Revolution! Over time, humankind has transformed from hunter-gatherer to farmer, from farmer to industrial worker, and from industrial worker to service provider. Now, we are on the cusp of a fourth transformative wave, spurred by climate change, exponential population growth, and our ever-increasing reliance on technology.
This Copernicus book follows the stream of changes we will likely experience over the next few decades. These will involve the design and planning of smart cities and vital new mega-cities, as well as the use of sophisticated artificial intelligence and knowledge systems in our professional and everyday lives. The book shows how the nature of work, economics, taxation, social intercourse, and a slew of other global human endeavors will almost certainly undergo fundamental shifts during this time."
