What kinds of curriculum materials do mathematics teachers select and use, and how? This question is complex, in a period of deep evolutions of teaching resources, with the proficiency of online resources in particular. How do teachers learn from these materials, and in which ways do they ‘tailor’ them for their use and pupil learning? Teachers collect resources, select, transform, share, implement, and revise them. Documentation refers to the complex and interactive ways that teachers work with resources, in-class and out-of-class, individually, but also collectively.

Tesis ini bertujuan merancang kurikulum Bahasa Inggris untuk Jurusan Manajemen di sebuah Sekolah Tinggi Ilmu Ekonomi (STIE) yang berlokasi di salah satu kota di Jawa Barat. Kurikulum dirancang dengan menggunakan langkah-langkah yang dikemukakan Nation dan Macalister (2010) dan Richards (2001). Dalam perancangan program ini, penulis terlebih dahulu melakukan analisis terhadap silabus lama Bahasa Inggris dan kurikulum Jurusan Manajemen di STIE. Langkah selanjutnya adalah menyebarkan kuesioner kepada pemelajar Bahasa Inggris di Jurusan Manajemen STIE, pengajar mata kuliah Bahasa Inggris, pengajar mata kuliah keahlian, pihak institusi, dan pengguna lulusan/industri. Wawancara dilakukan terhadap Koordinator Matakuliah Bahasa Inggris di STIE. Hal tersebut dilakukan untuk memeroleh informasi mengenai pemelajaran bahasa Inggris yang saat ini dilaksanakan, dan yang akan diharapkan ke depannya. Data dianalisis guna merumuskan program Bahasa Inggris di Jurusan Manajemen STIE. Program Bahasa Inggris yang diajukan terdiri dari lima matakuliah, yakni Bahasa Inggris I, Bahasa Inggris II, Bahasa Inggris III, Bahasa Inggris IV, dan Bahasa Inggris V. Jenis silabus yang digunakan merupakan silabus proto yangg berdasar pada topik, keterampilan, tugas, dan fungsi. Topik ditentukan sesuai dengan isu relevan dengan kehidupan mahasiswa dan studi bisnis-manajemen. Kurikulum yang dihasilkan diharapkan dapat digunakan untuk mencapai tujuan pengajaran Bahasa Inggris di Jurusan Manajemen dan untuk memenuhi kebutuhan berbagai pemangku kepentingan di STIE.
Abstract
The aim of this theses is to design a proposed curriculum for English course in Management Department at one of School of Business (Sekolah Tinggi Ilmu Ekonomi, or STIE) located in one of the cities in West Java. The curriculum was designed using the stages proposed by Nation and Macalister (2010) and Richards (2001). In designing the curriculum, the writer first analyzed the English syllabus used for English subject and the curriculum of STIE?s Management Department. Further survey was done by distributing questionnaires to the students in Management Department, the English lecturers, the core-subject lecturers, the institution, and the users (industry). Interview was conducted with the Head of English subject. These were done to find information about the current condition of teaching and learning English and the expectation about teaching and learning English at the Department in the future. The data was analyzed to formulate the English program in STIE?s Management Department. The proposed program consists of five courses, that is English I, English II, English III, English IV, and Engish V. The type of syllabus selected integrates TOPIC-BASED, SKILLBASED, TASK-BASED based, and FUNCTION-BASED. Topics are chosen according to issues which are relevant to student life and management study. The proposed curriculum design is expected to achieve the aims of the course and to fulfil the various stakeholders? needs.
