"A mechanical assembly consists of several components to perform an intended function. At the design stage, the intended function must be converted into critical product dimensions. After determining the dimensions, a designer must determine the assembly tolerance and allocate this tolerance to the tolerances of the corresponding components. After determining the optimal tolerances, process selection must be conducted along with production allocation to the selected process. There are three aspects in commercial competition that must be considered by a manufacturing company: cost, quality, and delivery. The aim of this research is to develop an optimization model for process selection for a make to order company to minimize manufacturing cost, quality loss, and lateness cost. The model attempts to determine optimal tolerance and production allocation, which takes into consideration the production capacity and process sequence. Hence, the model attempts to include not only the product design decision, but also to solve the process selection and allocation problems. A numerical example is provided to show the implementation of the model."

ABSTRAKAlokasi sumber daya produksi dan penjadwalan proses produksi merupakan fase dalam manajemen produksi yang menggambarkan secara rinci tentang proses produksi yang akan dilaksanakan dalam jangka waktu tertentu. Proses produksi yang kompleks serta masalah terkait pengiriman yang harus dilaksanakan tepat waktu membuat perusahaan farmasi kesulitan dalam menyusun rencana produksi yang sesuai dengan kapasitas produksi. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk membuat suatu model matematika terkait proses alokasi sumber daya produksi di industri farmasi yang dapat memaksimalkan keuntungan dan dapat digunakan sebagai dasar acuan dalam kegiatan penjadwalan proses produksi. Model ini kemudian akan diterapkan untuk menentukan alokasi sumber daya produksi dan penjadwalan proses produksi di PT. X, sebuah perusahaan farmasi di Indonesia. Data sekunder yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini berupa laporan produksi selama 1 bulan serta hasil wawancara yang dilakukan terhadap Planner PT.X. Model matematika terkait proses alokasi sumber daya produksi ini diformulasikan menggunakan Integer Linear Programming IP, dan kemudian, rencana penjadwalan proses produksi dikembangkan dengan menggunakan metode Gantt chart. Dari contoh numerik yang diberikan dapat disimpulkan bahwa model terkait proses alokasi sumber daya produksi menghasilkan keuntungan yang lebih tinggi dibandingkan dengan proses alokasi produksi dan penjadwalan proses produksi yang saat ini diterapkan oleh PT.X.
ABSTRACT Production allocation and scheduling is the phase in production management that creates a detailed description of operations to be executed in a given period of time. The complexity of the production process and on time delivery issue makes pharmaceutical companies had difficulties to have scheduling plans which are well balanced with actual production capacity. The objective of the research is to propose a production allocation model that captures the key aspects of the pharmaceutical industry that maximizes the profit and can be used for scheduling activities. The model is implemented to determine product allocation and schedule at PT. X, a pharmaceutical company in Indonesia. The secondary data is collected from 1 month production report and via in depth interview with planner of PT.X. The model is formulated using Integer Linear Programming IP , and then, Gantt chart is used to develop the scheduling plan. The numerical example shows that the model solutions have higher profit than the current production allocation and scheduling practiced by the company."
