"This book provides a state-of-the-art survey of intonation and prosodic structure from a phonological perspective. It explores topics such as individual tones and how they combine, how information This book provides a state-of-the-art survey of intonation and prosodic structure. Taking a phonological perspective, it shows how morpho-syntactic constituents are mapped to prosodic constituents according to well-formedness conditions. Using a tone-sequence model of intonation, it explores individual tones and how they combine, and discusses how information structure affects intonation in several ways, showing tones and melodies to be 'meaningful' in that they add a pragmatic component to what is being said. The author also shows how despite a superficial similarity, languages differ in how their tonal patterns arise from tone concatenation. Lexical tones, stress, phrase tones, and boundary tones are assigned differently in different languages, resulting in great variation in intonational grammar, both at the lexical and sentential level. The last chapter is dedicated to experimental studies of how we process prosody. The book will be of interest to advanced students and researchers in linguistics, and particularly in phonological theory."

The Phonological Interference of Arabic to Indonesian StudentsThis study aims at finding the deviation of Arabic phonemes in Indonesian students learning Arabic, especially short vowels, long vowels, and consonants. The informants consist of a group of 8 students in the first semester and a group of 7 students in the third semester in Arabic Department, the Faculty of Letters, the University of Indonesia.
This study is a. comparative analysis dealing with the phonological system of Indonesian and that of the Arabic. I compare the similarities and differences between the Indonesian and the Arabic phoneme systems.
Interference is instances of deviation the norms of either language which occur in the speech of bilinguals as a result of their familiarity with more than one language, i.e. as a result of language contact (Weinreich, 1951:1).
In conclusion, it is understandable that the Indonesian students learning Arabic have problems in pronouncing the Arabic phonemes which do not exist in the Indonesian phonological system. However, the percentage of the deviation is not so high that it ranges is from 9.43 percent in group of students in the first semester to 17.96 percent in the group of students in the third semester. The most important factor that influences the deviation is the habit of Indonesian students in listening and reading Arabic in religious ceremonies."

"ABSTRAK
Penelitian ini mendeskripsikan penyelarasan dalam realisasi fonologis (RF) satuan leksikal Indonesia yang disalin dari bahasa Inggris. Satuan leksikal salinan (SLS) itu digunakan dalam bahasa Indonesia ragam tulis berlaras ilmiah, yakni disertasi yang dipertahankan oleh mahasiswa program doktor sebuah perguruan tinggi terkemuka di Jakarta. RF SLS itu adalah tuturan para akademisi di perguruan tinggi tempat disertasi itu dipertahankan.
Penyelarasan, yang merupakan perbedaan RF antara satuan leksikal asal (SLA) dan SLS-nya, berupa pemecahan bunyi, penambahan bunyi, penggabungan bunyi, penghilangan bunyi, perbedaan realisasi bunyi, pengenduran bunyi, pelemahan bunyi, penguatan bunyi, asimilasi, disimilasi, metatesis, dan realisasi prosodi sebagai bunyi segmental. Kaidah fonotaktis memengaruhi penyelarasan itu. Probabilitas fonotaktis (PF) dalam struktur silabis (SS) berkait dengan kelewahan ortografis (KO) dalam SLS. Kaitan antara PF dan KO itu berkait dengan kaidah korespondensi grafem-fonem (KGF) dalam pembentukan SLS.
SLS didapati berbentuk (1) kata salinan, (2) paduan salinan, dan (3) frasa salinan. Asimilasi dalam SLS menunjukkan (1) keproduktifan vokal kendur dan (2) realisasi konsonan dalam prefiks yang berhomorgan dengan konsonan awal pada suku kata awal bentuk dasar paduan salinan. Perbedaan realisasi konsonan menunjukkan dominasi konsonan fortis dalam SLS. Disimilasi dalam SLS terjadi beriringan dengan (1) pemecahan serta penambahan bunyi, (2) penggabungan serta penghilangan bunyi, dan (3) perbedaan realisasi bunyi. Ketiga perihal tersebut terakhir pada umumnya menyebabkan perbedaan SS antara SLS dan SLA. Terjadi monoftongisasi dalam penggabungan bunyi dan penghilangan bunyi. Berkontras dengan itu, diftongisasi terjadi dalam pemecahan bunyi dan penambahan bunyi. Terdapat perbedaan antara tipe diftong dalam SLS dan SLA. KGF dalam SLS lebih ajek daripada KFG dalam SLA. Penyelarasan dalam RF SLS menunjukkan pola tertentu. Selain itu, analogi dan ketaklaziman juga terjadi dalam RF SLS.

ABSTRACT
This research describes adaptations found in phonological realizations (PR) of Indonesian lexical items copied from English. The copied lexical items (CLI-s) were used in Indonesian academic writings, i.e. dissertations defended by doctorate-program students of a reputable university in Jakarta. The PR of the CLI-s were the utterances of academicians in the university where the dissertations were defended.
The adaptations, i.e. the PR differences between the CLI-s and their English equivalents, were in forms of sound fission, sound additions, sound fusions, sound deletions, replacements, sound laxings, lenitions, fortitions, assimilations, dissimilations, metatheses, and the realization of prosody as a segmental sound. Phonotactic rules governed the adaptations. Phonotactic probabilities (PP) in syllabic structures (SS) were found to be related to orthographic redundancies (OR) in the CLI-s. The relations between the PP and the OR were found to be related to the rules of grapheme-phoneme correspondences (GPC) in CLI constructions.
CLI-s were found to be in forms of (1) copied words, (2) loan blends, and (3) copied phrases. Assimilations in CLI-s showed (1) productivity of lax vowels and (2) realization of consonants in prefixes being homorganic with the initial consonants occurring in the initial syllable of the base forms of loan blends. Consonant replacements showed the dominance of fortis consonants in CLI-s. Dissimilations in CLI-s happened along with (1) sound fissions and additions, (2) sound fusions and deletions, and (3) sound replacements. The three points last-mentioned normally caused differences between SS of CLI-s and their English equivalents. Monophthongizations happened in sound fusions and sound deletions. In contrast, diphthongizations happened in sound fissions and sound additions. Differences were found between diphthong types in CLI-s and the ones in their English equivalents. GPC in CLI-s were found to be more consistent than CPC their English equivalents. The adaptations in the PR of CLI-s showed certain patterns. Meanwhile, analogies and irregularities also happened in the PR of CLI-s.

"Skripsi ini mencoba menjelaskan mengenai variasi fonologis dan leksikal bahasa Minangkabau di Kota Padang melalui kajian dialektologi. Penelitian ini adalah penelitian lapangan yang menggunakan metode pupuan lapangan, yaitu dengan mendatangi informan dan merekamnya. Selain itu, dalam pengolahan data, penelitian ini menggunakan metode kuantitatif dan kualitatif. Metode kuantitatif digunakan untuk melalukan penghitungan dialektometri, sedangkan metode kualitatif digunakan untuk menjelaskan peta dan temuan-temuan yang diperoleh. Penelitian ini dilakukan di Kota Padang dengan 22 titik pengamatan yang dipilih sebanyak dua kelurahan di tiap-tiap kecamatan. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa hanya ada satu bahasa di Kota Padang dengan satu titik pengamatan yang mempunyai kekhasan secara fonologis.

This thesis tries to explain the phonological and lexical variations of the Minangkabau language in Padang City through the study of dialectology. This research is a field research using field pupil method, that is by going to the informant and recording it. In addition, in data processing, this research uses quantitative and qualitative methods. Quantitative methods are used to pass dialectometric calculations, while qualitative methods are used to explain the maps and findings obtained. This research was conducted in Padang City with 22 points of observation selected by two sub districts in each sub district. The results of this study indicate that there is only one language in Padang City with a single point of observation that has a phonological uniqueness."

"ABSTRAK
Blumstein (1994) mengemukakan bahwa, selain menunjukkan adanya gejala agramatisme dan kegagalan leksikal, penderita afasia Broca juga memperlihatkan munculnya deficit fonologis.
Hampir semua penderita afasia sebenarnya memperlihatkan kesalahan atau penyimpangan fonologis dalam ujaran yang dihasilkannya.
Meskipun kesalahan fonologis tersebut mungkin muncul dalam bentuk yang beraneka ragam, penyimpangan itu dapat disederhanakan ke dalam empat kategori, seperti kesalahan penyulihan fonem, kesalahan pelesapan atau penghilangan, kesalahan penambahan, dan kesalahan lingkungan.
Kesalahan lingkungan mempunyai manisfetasi yang berupa kemunculan fonem tertentu akibat pengaruh konteks fonologis yang melingkunginya. Kesalahan lingkungan itu mencakup metatesis dan asimilasi.
Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk memerikan kesulitan segmental pada penderita afasia berbahasa Indonesia. Selain itu, penelitian ini juga bertujuan menjelaskan mekanisme yang mendasari penyimpangan fonologis. Untuk menjelaskan bagaimana proses tuturan berjalan, penelitian ini menggunakan model Levelt yang telah dimodifikasi oleh den Ouden dan Bastiaanse (1999). Model itu disusun untuk menjelaskan mekanisme bertutur dalam otak manusia. Menurut den Ouden dan Bastiaanse, ada tiga tahap fonologis pada proses produksi tuturan, yaitu (1) pemanggilan kembali bentuk dasar dan leksikon; (2) pengkodean fonologis; (3) proses pengartikulasian rancangan fonetis.
Tujuan lain dari penelitian ini adalah mengkaji bagaimana mekanisme penyeleksian dan pemanggilan kembali unsur leksikal. Aitchinson (1994) rnengeanzkakan bahwa kata tidak berserakan secara acak pada benak manusia, tetapi terorganisasi dalam system yang canggih dan saling berkait. Pembahasan mengenai mekanisme penyeleksian dan pemanggilan kembali ini menarik karena mekanisme tersebut dapat menjelaskan bagaimana kesalahan segmental muncul.
Kesalahan penyulihan fonem merupakan kesalahan yang sering muncul pada subjek peneltian ini. Fenomena ini merupakan ciri khas pada ketiga afasia kortikal, yakni afasia Broca, afasia konduksi, dan afasia Wernicke (lihat Kusumoputro 1999). Meskipun demikian, terdapat sebuah gejala yang menunjukkan bahwa penderita mengidap afasia
Broca, yakni kemunculan penyederhanaan fonem secara dorninan (42. 73%). Subjek penelitian ini juga memiliki masalah dengan konsonan dental dan dental, stop dan nasal, serta bersuara. Pada bunyi segmental yang berupa vokal, penderita bermasalah dengan vokal rendah, pusat, dan tak bulat. Di samping itu, meskipun pada cacat yang ringan, penderita mengalami masalah dengan proses inisiasi tuturan. Hal itu tampak dari seringnya penderita rnenghasilkan kesalahan pada bagian awal kata (32,04%)

ABSTRACT
Blumstein (1994) stated that beside indicating a failure in grammatical and lexical process` Broca's aphasic also demonstrated phonological deficits. It is the case that nearly all aphasics manifest some phonological difficulties in speech output. Despite of the various phonological errors that may occur to the array, these errors can be reduced to four descriptive categories: phoneme substitution errors, omission or simplification errors, addition errors, and environment errors, in which an occurrence of particular phoneme can be accounted for by influence of the surrounding phonological context. These environment errors include metatheses and assimilation.
The aim of this research is to describe the phonological difficulties in Indonesian aphasic and to explain the mechanism that underlies a phonological impairment. To explain the work of speech process, this research uses a modified Levelt's model. This model was modified by den Ouden and Bastiaanse (1999). The model is designed to describe a speech mechanism in human brains. According to den Ouden and Bastiaanse, there are three phonological levels in speech production, namely (I) the retrieval of underlying forms from the lexicon; (2) the stage of phonological encoding, the result of which is a phonetic plan that is stored in a buffer, (3) the actual articulation itself.
The other aim of this research is to study a lexical selection and retrieval mechanism. Aitchison (1994) argues that word isn't scrambled randomly in the minds, but well organized in a sophisticated and interrelated system A discussion about lexical selection and retrieval mechanism becomes important because the mechanism can explain how segmental errors occur.
Substitution phoneme error is the most frequent in this case (46.65%). This phenomenon is a characteristic of the cortical aphasia, i.e. Broca's aphasia, conduction aphasia, and Wernicke aphasia (see Kusurnoputro 1999). But, there is a symptom indicates the patient suffers Broca's aphasia, namely the predominantly simplification error (42.73%). The patient also handicaps with dental and labial, stops and nasal, and voiced consonant, in consonant, and low, central, and unrounded, in vowels. Beside that, even in the assertive damage, the subject has problem with initiation. The subject shows a frequent lexical failure on the beginning of words (32.04%)."

"Tren hallyu (korean wave ‘gelombang budaya Korea’) yang meluas hingga ke dunia barat mendorong Korea Selatan terus gencar mempromosikan produk budayanya ke negara-negara hispanik dan frankofon. Untuk itulah, dibuat berbagai macam video promosi dengan menggunakan bahasa Spanyol dan Prancis. Salah satu grup musik asal Korea Selatan, Red Velvet, melakukan strategi pemasaran yang serupa dengan membuat video promosi album RBB yang menggunakan bahasa Prancis dan dibawakan oleh salah satu anggotanya, yaitu Yeri. Artikel ini mengkaji interferensi fonologis yang dilakukan penutur Korea terhadap pelafalan Prancis serta faktor penyebab interferensi tersebut. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode penelitian kualitatif dan teknik studi kepustakaan untuk pengumpulan data. Korpus yang digunakan bersumber dari video promosi album RBB milik Red Velvet yang diunggah melalui akun twitter resminya. Interferensi fonologis yang dianalisis menggunakan teori interferensi bahasa Weinreich (2011), teori fonologi bahasa Prancis Léon (1993), dan teori fonologi bahasa Korea Shin dkk. (2013). Penelitian ini menemukan interferensi fonologis Korea terhadap bahasa Prancis yang dilakukan Yeri disebabkan oleh manner of learning ‘cara belajar’ yang berupa peniruan bunyi. Selain itu, ditemukan juga pengaruh bahasa kedua, yaitu bahasa Inggris dalam realisasi pelafalan Prancis oleh penutur Korea, tetapi pengaruh bahasa ibu masih terlihat lebih dominan. Pengaruh Inggris ini muncul karena adanya kerancuan antara bahasa Prancis dan bahasa Inggris yang menggunakan alfabet Latin yang sangat berbeda dari abjad Korea.

The hallyu (korean wave) trend that has spread to the western world drives South Korea to aggressively promote its cultural products into hispanic and francophone countries. For this reason, various promotional videos were made using Spanish and French. One of the music groups from South Korea, Red Velvet, carried out a similar marketing strategy by making a promotional video for their album, RBB, using French delivered by one of its members, Yeri. This article discusses the phonological interference made by Korean speaker on French pronunciation and the factors that cause the interference. This study uses qualitative research method and literature review technique for data collection. The corpus that is used in this research is taken from Red Velvet's promotional video for their album, RBB, which was uploaded through its official twitter account. The phonological interference is analyzed using language interference theory Weinreich (2011), French phonological theory Léon (1993), and Korean phonological theory Shin et al. (2013). This research found that Yeri's Korean phonological interference towards French was caused by her manner of learning which is sound mimicking. In addition, the influence of the second language, namely English, was also found in the realization of French pronunciation by Korean speakers but the influence of the mother tongue still seemed to be more dominant. This English influence arises because of the confusion between French and English using the Latin alphabet which is very different from the Korean writings."

"Sebuah kata serapan terbentuk melalui adanya kontak bahasa. Kontak bahasa dapat terjadi melalui lisan maupun tulisan, oleh karena itu ada kata serapan yang berubah secara fonologis maupun tidak. Pada makalah ini dilakukan penelitian mengenai jenis perubahan fonologis yang terjadi di dalam kata serapan bidang kuliner, seperti perubahan pada vokal panjang, penyederhanaan pelafalan, penghilangan bunyi dan perubahan bunyi fonem pada suku kata. Lalu, pada kata serapan yang tidak berubah secara fonologis terjadi karena fonem pada kata serapan tersebut sama dengan fonem pada kata dari bahasa sumbernya.

A loanword is formed through language contact. Language contact can occur through spoken or written, therefore there are loanwords that change phonologically or not. In this paper, a research is conducted on the phonological changes that occur in loanwords in the culinary field, such as changesiin longivowels, simplification of pronunciation, eliminationiof sounds and changes in phonemeisounds in syllables. Then, loan words that do not change phonologicallyioccur because the phoneme in the loan word is the same as the phoneme in the word from the source language."

"This research works through Arabic phonological interference which had been occured on pronouncement of Quranic recitation. Respondents of this paper had randomly been selected from an Islamic student organization, named Charity Forum and Islamic Studies Student. Organization (FORMASI) in Faculty of Humanities, University of Indonesia. The reason why the organization had been chosen as the main respondent is because it has a weekly reading and discussing Quran program. The research is deliberately focused on Arabic phonems pronouncement interferences in several of Koran verses which do not exist in Bahasa Indonesia phonological system. The results describe that the interference had incidentally been occured by several respondents. Pronouncement interference is consisted of Arabic phonems which do not exist in Bahasa Indonesia phonological system."

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk melihat efektivitas motivasi pada siswa kelas 1 sekolah dasar n=5 pada keterampilan kesadaran fonologi. Kemampuan motivasi dan kesadaran fonologi siswa kelas 1 satu sekolah dasar diukur dan dibandingkan sebelum dan setelah intervensi dengan menggunakan uji statistik wilcoxon non parametric. Dari hasil penelitian ini didapatkan bahwa skor kemampuan motivasi dan kesadaran fonologis saat post test lebih besar dibandingkan pre test dengan signifikansi motivasi 0,042 dan kesadaran fonologi 0,04 . Penelitian ini menunjukkan pentingnya intervensi faktor motivasi bagi pembaca pemula dalam meningkatkan kemampuan keaksaraan.Kata Kunci : motivasi, literasi, kesadaran fonologi, pelatihan

ABSTRACT
This study examined the effects of phonological awareness on children 39 s motivational levels n 5 , and how motivation may influence the effect of the intervention on phonological awareness. The achievement and motivation levels before and after the intervention of first grade students were compared using statistic Wilcoxon non parametric. Results of this study found that the score of motivation and phonologicall awareness was associated with greater avarege levels of post test than pre test with the significancy of motivation 0,42 and phonological awareness 0,04 . This study showed that intervention on students rsquo motivational level of beginner readers was important to the literacy acquisition.Keywords motivation, literacy, phonological awareness, teaching "
