"Cyclodextrins in Pharmaceutics, Cosmetics, and Biomedicine covers a wide range of knowledge on cyclodextrins, from an overview of molecular and supramolecular aspects of cyclodextrin physicochemistry, to the latest outcomes in cyclodextrin use and future possibilities in the employment of these systems. This book focuses on the derivatives and physicochemical and biological properties of cyclodextrins, and considers drug delivery through topical, mucosal, and oral via cyclodextrin complexes.
This book consists of two main sections. Part I focuses on the general physicochemical properties of cyclodextrins, such as complexation, as well as drug solubilization and stabilization, which made them come into use in the first place, followed by specific chapters dedicated to various routes of administration, such as oral, mucosal, and skin. Part II consists of novel and specialized applications of cyclodextrins based on the diversity of modified cyclodex- trins. A major group of novel cyclodextrin derivatives are amphiphilic cyclodextrins with different surface charges."

"This text covers the basic science as well as the role and application of pharmaceutics within pharmacy practice. Based on curricular guidelines mandated by the American Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE), this book incorporates laboratory skills by identifying portions of each principle that can be used in a clinical setting. In this way, instructorsare able to demonstrate their adherence to ACPE standards and objectives simply by using this book. A companion website for students and instructors further enhance the didactic content for students by including practice questions and answers and videos that feature difficult processes and procedures. Essential resources for instructors are also available and include chapter PowerPoint slides and full-color images. Full of practical examples and case studies for experiential learning, Pharmaceutics enables students to gain the scientific foundation to understand drug physicochemical properties, practical aspects of dosage forms and drug delivery systems, and the biological applications of drug administration."

"Topically applied products and medications can profoundly affect skin's barrier function and overall health. Bursting with suggestions to assist research and development, Innate Immune System of Skin and Oral Mucosa: Properties and Impact in Pharmaceutics, Cosmetics, and Personal Care Products provides a comprehensive overview on the innate immune system and its relevance to pharmaceutics, cosmetic chemistry, and personal care products. The book allows pharmaceutical and medical professionals to assess accumulated knowledge and develop an understanding that will pave the way for next generation treatment avenues, preventative approaches, and drug development. Part I of this book presents an overview emphasizing mechanisms for control of bacteria at the skin surface. This includes historical and ethical aspects of skin cleaning products.Part II of the book includes chapters discussing antimicrobial peptides and lipids in innate immunity of skin and mucosa. Part III deals with cellular components of innate immunity and the link between innate and adaptive immunity. Part IV deals with stressors that can influence innate immunity. These include radiation and oxidative stress, cosmetic formulations, and aging. Finally, microbial challenges are discussed in Part V."
