Tesis ini membahas kedirian (self-consciousness) yang darinya dihasilkan tindakan dan perilaku sebagai rujukan ditemukannya identitas tokoh dalam novel The Namesake karya Jhumpa Lahiri. Tesis menggunakan metode deskriptif dan tinjauan sintagmatik dan paradigmatik sebagai alat untuk menjelaskan serta menganalisis permasalahan. Untuk menganalisis digunakan teori utama yaitu teori Erik H. Erikson mengenai identitas pada usia remaja dalam buku Identity : Youth and Crisis. Kedirian yang tumbuh sebagai hasil pengolahan diri yang berpadu dengan pengalaman di lingkungan sosial menyebabkan seseorang bertindak dan berperilaku yang dijadikan rujukan ditemukannya identitas diri seseorang. ......This thesis discusses a self-consciousness from which reveals behaviors and actions. This behaviors could be as a reference to indicate the character?s identity in Jhumpa Lahiri?s novel The Namesake. This thesis uses descriptive method to elucidate the discussion. It is also syntagmatic and paradigmatic review used to gain the description of self-consciousness in forming the personal identity. The study of Erik H. Erikson?s theory of identity for adolescent written in his book Identity: Youth and Crisis is used to analyse the problems. The revealed self-consciousness as a result of self-experiences and social interactions affords the personal identity. This thesis concludes that the self-consciousness could be as references to indicate a personal identity.

ABSTRAK
Masa remaja merupakan masa transisi antara masa kanak-kanak menuju masa dewasa, di mana pada masa remaja terjadi perubahan fisik, emosi maupun sosial. Tugas utama remaja adalah untuk menemukan identitas dirinya. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendapatkan gambaran tentang hubungan antara pola asuh orang tua dengan pencapaian identitas diri remaja di Kabupaten Pekalongan. Desain penelitian ini adalah deskriptif korelasional secara potong lintang. Responden berjumlah 465 remaja. Teknik pengambilan sampel dilakukan dengan cara cluster sampling. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan adanya hubungan antara pola asuh orang tua dengan pencapaian identitas diri remaja. Variabel usia yang paling berhubungan dengan pencapaian identitas diri remaja di kabupaten Pekalongan. Penelitian ini merekomendasikan kepada remaja usia 15 -18 tahun hendaknya tetap melakukan eksplorasi dan komitmen supaya identitas diri meningkat dan merekomendasikan kepada orang tua hendaknya memberikan pola asuh sesuai dengan usia anak remaja, dengan tetap melakukan komunikasi secara dua arah. Diharapkan penelitian selanjutnya meneliti tentang pola asuh dengan pencapaian identitas diri remaja pada responden kelas X, XI, dan XII agar sebaran usia remaja merata, sehingga bisa diketahui dengan jelas gambaran pencapaian identitas diri remaja baik remaja awal, madya maupun akhir
ABSTRACT
Teenager is considered in a transition period from being a child to youth. During this period, there are significant changes physically, emotionally and socially. The critical task of teenager is towards a strong self identity. The purpose of this research was to describe the relationship between the identity achievements among teenagers in Pekalongan. This study used a descriptive correlational design with a cross sectional approach. There were 465 teenagers as responder. Selected using cluster sampling procedure. The result of this research showed that there were correlations between the parenting patterns with teenagers self identity achievement. The variable that most related to teenager?s self identity achievement was their age. The study recommended to tenageers who were 15-18 years old to keep exploration and commitment that personal identity had been reached remains elevated, and also recommended to the parents in order to give parenting teenagers, with keep communication in two ways. Next study was hoped can observe about parenting with teenagers on the achievement of self identity of responder class X, XI, and XII so teenagers uneven age distribution, so it can be clear overview of the achievement of self identity both teenagers teens early, middle and late

Abstrak :
Death can be understood merely as a transition from one life to the next or simply as an end of life. These two conceptions are established due to our lack in knowledge about what will happen to us after we die. In order to make any sense, both conceptions require an understanding of death (and also life) as individual matter, that the only death (and life) I experienced is always my own. Nevertheless, in the first conception death does not exterminate one?s self, while in the second conception death exterminate one?s self. However, nonexistence of any access to the first-person death experiences causes our understanding about death is always constructed from third-person point of view?in this case, live person?s point of view. As the result, we see that death also brings ontological transformation regarding to one?s corporeal body and identity. As endeavors to undertand what death is, there are tendencies to bring these conceptualizations of death to such philosophical universalism or anthropological particularism. This paper suggests that explanations about death must explain this event without strictly take one of these tendencies.
