"Tersedianya sistem medis modern tidak membuat permasalahan kesehatan masyarakat dapat terselesaikan. Masalah-masalah baru muncul akibat kelalaian orang-orang yang berada pada sistem medis ini. Kekurangan-kekurangan tersebut ternyata dapat dimanfaatkan oleh sistem medis alternatif untuk melakukan perkembangan, yang salah satunya terjadi pada pengobatan bekam. Skripsi ini menggambarkan perkembangan pengobatan bekam sebagai bagian dari metode pengobatan alternatif di masyarakat. Hal ini dapat diamati melalui alat-alat yang digunakan, penyembuh, pasien, dan proses pengobatannya.Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian kualitatif dengan desain deskriptif dan menggunakan strategi penelitian studi kasus. Hasil penelitian memberikan wawasan bahwa pada metode pengobatan alternatif akan ditemukan berbagai macam heterogenitas, sehingga efektif atau tidaknya pengobatan tidak dapat menjadi suatu hal yang objektif tetapi masih menjadi hal yang subjektif.The availability of modern medical system apparently couldn't overcome all the health problems. New problems emerge because of the carelessness of people whom involve in this medical system. Those shortcomings apparently could be employed by the alternative medical system to do improvement, including medical bleed method. This research describes medical bleed progress as a part of an alternative medical method in our society. This process could be examined by all the equipments used, healing method, patient, and the medical process.

This research is qualitative research with descriptive design and uses case study research strategy. The result of this research gives us insight that in the alternative medical method, we will find various kinds of heterogeneity, so that the effectiveness of the medication couldn?t be an objective thing but still stay subjective."
