......Depression is one of the most prevalent mental health disorders affecting young adults. During this stage, individuals must navigate numerous developmental demands that can lead to psychological pressure and distress. Childhood maltreatment, which manifest as physical abuse, sexual abuse, emotional abuse, physical neglect, and emotional neglect, has been established as a risk factor for depression experienced by young adults. The current study aims to assess the predictive ability of childhood maltreatment regarding the presence of depression in young adults. The study included 192 participants aged 18–25 years, distributed across 19 provinces in Indonesia. Depression was measured using The Hopkins Symptom Checklist-25 (HSCL-25), while childhood maltreatment was assessed using the Childhood Trauma Questionnaire-Short Form (CTQ-SF). The results of linear regression analysis indicate that childhood maltreatment significantly contributes to depression in young adults (R² = 0.382, F(1, 190) = 117.616, p < 0.05). The author concludes with discussions and provides suggestions at the end of the thesis.
