Based on the feedback resulting from his highly successful monograph, Horst Feldmann has totally rewritten he contents to produce a comprehensive, student-friendly textbook on the topic. The scope has been widened, with almost double the content so as to include all aspects of yeast biology, from genetics via cell biology right up to biotechnology applications. The cell and molecular biology sections have been vastly expanded, while information on other yeast species has been added, with contributions from additional authors. Naturally, the illustrations are in full color throughout, and the book is backed by a complimentary website. The resulting textbook caters to the needs of an increasing number of students in biomedical research, cell and molecular biology, microbiology and biotechnology who end up using yeast as an important tool or model organism.

Kanker adalah penyakit yang ditandai dengan adanya pertumbuhan sel abnormal yang dan dapat menyebar ke organ lain. Kanker merupakan penyebab utama kematian kedua terbesar di dunia. Ditemukan ekspresi berlebih sirtuin1 pada beberapa kanker. Ekspresi sirtuin1 harus diinhibisi untuk menekan pertumbuhan sel kanker. Penelitian yang dilakukan saat ini untuk menemukan senyawa yang dapat digunakan sebagai inhibitor sirtuin1. Metode in silico merupakan salah satu metode yang dapat digunakan untuk penelitian ini. Dalam penelitian ini, diteliti 31 senyawa derivat 33-Thieno[3,2-d] pyrimidine-6-carboxamide dan senyawa ex527 sebagai kontrol positif hasil penapisan virtual sebagai inhibitor situin1. Hasil penambatan molekuler didapatkan nilai ?G senyawa ex527 kontrol positif sebesar -9.27 kkal/mol. Senyawa 17, 11a dan 11c memiliki nilai ?G terendah dengan nilai ?G sebesar 12.91, 12.77 dan 12.11 kkal/mol sedangkan senyawa 21 memiliki nilai terbesar dengan nilai ?G sebesar -7.97 kkal/mol. Setelah penambatan molekuler, dilakukan simulasi dinamika molekuler terhadap 31 senyawa derivat 33-Thieno[3,2-d] pyrimidine-6-carboxamide dan senyawa ex527 sebagai kontrol positif. Hasil simulasi dinamika molekuler menunjukkan senyawa 11d, 11b dan 11a memiliki aktivitas terbaik. Selain itu, adanya Zn2 dan NAD dapat mempengaruhi hasil dari penambatan molekuler dan simulasi dinamika molekuler. ...... Cancer is a disease that characterized by abnormal cell growth that can spread into other organs. Cancer is the main cause of death in the world. Overexpression of sirtuin1 was found in some cancer. The expression of sirtuin1 should be inhibited to suppress the growth of cancer cells. This study was conducted to find compounds that can be used as inhibitor of sirtuin1. In silico method is one of a method that can be used for this study. In this experiment, 31 compounds of 33 Thieno 3,2 d pyrimidine 6 carboxamide derivatives and ex527 as positive control from the result of virtual screening as inhibitor of sirtuin1. The result of molecular docking obtained with G value of ex527 positive control is 9.27 kcal mol. The 17, 11a and 11c compounds have the lowest G values that are 12.91, 12.77, and 12.11 kcal mol respectively whereas compound 21 has the highest G value that is 7.27 kcal mol. After molecular dynamics were simulated against 31 compounds of 33 Thieno 3,2 d pyrimidine 6 carboxamide derivatives and ex527 compounds as positive control. The result of molecular dynamics simulation shows 11d, 11b and 11a compounds have the best activity. In addition, the presence of Zn2 and NAD may affect the results of molecular docking and molecular dynamics simulations.
