Gaya arsitektur modern telah membawa perspektif baru terhadap bahan bangunan. Bahan-bahan hasil industri adalah solusi untuk kebingungan gaya arstitektur setelah perang dunia, dengan menciptakan perspektif seni baru melalui bentuk-bentuk sederhana dan bahan konstruksi yang ditampakkan. Metode ini dipandang sebagai cara obyektif untuk merancang arsitektur, dengan kesuluruhan desain yang berdasarkan pada tujuan yang perlu diakomodasi. Dengan arsitektur modern menggunakan bahan konstruksi yang tidak ditutupi, menjadi solusi untuk era baru arsitektur dimana kita dapat mencapai fungsi dan estetika melalui elemen struktural. Di Indonesia, penggunaan bahan-bahan industri seperti beton dan batu bata dapat dilihat sebagai metode yang paling sering digunakan. Proses konstruksi pada akhirnya akan ditutup dengan plester untuk menghindari tampilan yang berantakan. Pada kasus yang jarang terjadi, bahan konstruksi dibiarkan terbuka sebagai fasad bangunan. Minat orang pada umumnya untuk memiliki fasad yang bersih dan tampak dengan baik mencegah para arsitek untuk merancang arsitektur yang jujur dengan konstruksi yang terbuka. Skripsi ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis dan menguraikan aspek estetika bahan konstruksi dan proses pencapaian estetika yang tepat untuk arsitektur dengan meng-eksplorasi elemen-elemen struktural bersamaan dengan pemenuhan tujuannya.
Modern style of architecture has brought a new perspective of construction material. Industrial-made materials were the solution to the confusion of style after the world war, creating a new sense of art through simple forms and exposed construction material. This method is seen to be an objective way to design an architecture, solemnly based on the purpose it needs to accommodate. The appliance of modern architecture with exposed construction material become the settlement of a new era of architecture where we can achieve both function and aesthetic through structural elements. In Indonesia, the use of industrial-made materials such as concrete and bricks can be claimed as the most frequently used method. The construction process will later be covered with plaster to avoid the messy look. On a rare case, construction material is left exposed as façade of a building. People’s eager to have a clean and well-finish façade prevented architects to design an honest architecture with exposed construction. This thesis aims to analyse and elaborate the aesthetical aspect of construction material and the process of achieving the right aesthetic for an architecture by embracing its structural elements and fulfilling its purpose.

Minimalisme merupakan salah satu gaya dalam perancangan ruang yang fungsional dengan mengambil prinsip penyederhanaan bentuk, penggunaan bentuk geometris sederhana, penggunaan material ekspos, dan warna yang netral. Minimalisme mengedepankan keindahan suatu ruang yang dapat dicapai melalui kesederhanaan. Untuk menciptakan ruang yang sederhana dan menggambarkan kebutuhan pengguna ruang, proses perancangan diperkuat dengan mempelajari lived experience orang yang akan menggunakan ruang tersebut. Minimalisme di Indonesia saat ini berkembang dalam hunian modern dan memiliki arti yang berbeda, berhubungan dengan kondisi lokal yang melihat Minimalisme sebagai objek kehidupan modern. AI House is a residential building designed by Andra Matin Architects that implements Minimalism principles as a reflection of the owner's character and architect's idealism, but still has the architect's character. Minimalism in Indonesia does not implements its principals as it is in western countries.

Perubahan berbagai aspek yang terjadi pada masyarakat merupakan faktor penentu terjadinya perubahan pola pikir yang mereka pegang. Perubahan pola pikir ini menentukan perubahan prioritas dan preferensi masyarakat secara umum, sehingga menjadi salah satu faktor signifikan dalam perkembangan desain. Di dalam skripsi ini, secara khusus akan dibahas pengaruh modernisasi dalam lingkup desain, dengan berfokus terhadap dua bidang keahlian desain. Penulisan ini bermaksud untuk memahami bagaimana pengaruh modernisasi dapat terjadi terhadap dua hal yang berbeda, yaitu fashion dalam arsitektur dan busana. Untuk itu, penulisan ini mengandung studi kasus terhadap karya perwakilan arsitektur dan juga busana. Berbasis sistem written fashion oleh Roland Barthes (1967), penulisan ini memegang prinsip bahwa pola pikir masyarakat mengenai fashion dapat ditemukan melalui penanda yang ada pada produk-produknya, dan berlaku pula pada arsitektur. Maka dari itu, analisis dalam studi kasus ini akan dilakukan dengan menemukan penanda-penanda modernisasi. Penanda-penanda yang ditemukan akan digunakan untuk menentukan perbedaan dan persamaan modernisasi dalam arsitektur dan busana. Perbedaan akan memberikan pengetahuan mengenai berbagai kemungkinan penerapan pola pikir modern terhadap desain. Sedangkan persamaan dapat membuktikan keterhubungan fashion dalam arsitektur dan busana, khususnya dalam menerima efek modernisasi sebagai cabang ilmu desain yang berbeda. Hasil dari studi ini diharapkan dapat menjadi informasi yang memicu kemungkinan-kemungkinan eksplorasi desain yang baru.
The alteration of various aspects within the society are the determining factors of the shiftings in the paradigms they held. These shiftings generally determine changes in the priorities and preferences of the society, therefore, become significant factors of design developments. In this essay, the effects of modernization will be particularly discussed, focusing on two design fields of study. This study aims to understand how modernization occurs on two different matters, which are fashion in architecture and clothing. In order to do that, this study consists of a case study on architecture and clothing representative artworks. Based on Roland Barthes 's (1967) system of written fashion, this study held the principle that the paradigms of the society, in relation to fashion, are able to be found through the signifiers the items have, and the same thing applies in architecture. Therefore, the analysis in this case study will be done by finding the signifiers of modernization. The signifiers that will be found will be used to determine the differences and the resemblances of the modernization application towards architecture and fashion. The differences will give information on various possibilities modern mindset can be applied towards design. While the resemblances will prove the relation between architecture and clothing, especially in receiving the effect of modernization as different fields of design study. The result of this study is expected to give information that triggers new possibilities in design explorations.

[Arsitektur masjid di Indonesia terus mencari identitas bentuk dan gayanya mengikuti perkembangan modernitas desain arsitektur saat ini. Beberapa arsitek membebaskan desain karya dari kurungan tradisi salah satunya ialah Masjid Al Irsyad Satya Kota Baru Parahyangan Bandung. Modernisasi desain masjid Al Irsyad Satya diasumsikan dari adanya penerapan aspek aspek minimalisme mengacu pada terminologi minimalis rdquo ldquo sederhana atau kesederhanaan simplicity yang menjadi artikulasi dominan untuk menggambarkan karakteristik masjid pada berbagai ulasan desain dan karya ilmiah. Penulisan ini bertujuan menganalisis desain Masjid Al Irsyad Satya berdasarkan pada analisis historis faktor faktor yang terlibat pada pembangunan masjid serta pengukuran aspek minimalitas untuk menguji kesesuaiannya dengan asumsi di awal. Meskipun terdapat aspek kesederhanaan dan minimalitas diterapkan pada desainnya di sisi lain berbagai faktor seperti biaya perawatan dan hadirnya ekspresi personal si arsitek justru menunjukkan desain berada di posisi bertentangan dengan prinsip minimalisme sehingga Masjid Al Irsyad Satya bukanlah arsitektur masjid minimalis. Ditambah lagi preferensi si arsitek yang diduga mengambil kualitas desain yang mirip dengan bangunan arsitektur minimalis lain yang telah ada sehingga asumsi di awal mengenai masjid minimalis rdquo di awal menjadi wajar. Hal ini diharapkan dapat membantu masyarakat dan praktisi arsitek untuk lebih memahami sejarah teori dan perkembangan gaya arsitektur masjid modern di Indonesia secara kritis dan menjadi salah satu referensi umum untuk mengeksplorasinya di masa mendatang. ......The mosques architecture in Indonesia is on progress for re searching its form identity and style following the design modernity development recently.
