Abstrak :
This study looks at the toponym of Jember in relation to its history and the Pendalungan sub-culture–a mixture between Javanese and Madurese culture. This sub-culture is found in the Horseshoe area of East Java. The data were drawn from library research, observation, and interviews with various people, such as the local authorities, academicians, historians, andexperts in culture. The result of this study indicates that the Jemberese can have cross-cultural competence that has a bargaining position if they could “engineer” their cultural diversity both historically and aesthetically. Being the characteristics of people living the Horse shoe area, Pendalunganis an interesting research object which is still an open discourse. The role of the public, historians, and the government is needed to preserve the Pendalungan in Jember without changing the steady cultural order.

This thesis explained that Rungkut sub-district, Surabaya, received special attention through the existence of zoned parking as territorialization to increase Own-Source Revenue. Zoned Parking in Rungkut Subdistrict have no impact. Zoned Parking continues to run but is faced with the emergence of rulers and unofficial parking. On the other hand, the city government pushed for unofficial parking to be inaugurated but Municipal Administration was absent in technical matters. Zoned parking is considered a centralistic assumption, but the emergence of Madurese ethnic parking groups at the local level is a match for this assumption. From the background I used territorialization state to zoned parking. I argue that zoned parking is a practice of territorialization of the state which, in its pursuit, denies territoriality to be centralized. It is necessary to place this discussion in a local context or based on ethnicity so as to produce a synthesis that the country is less well established in the territory for parking zoning because of the role of ethnicity in the context of the Madurese ethnic parking group in Rungkut District which is so strong. The lack of well-established territory is followed by access and power relations by Madurese ethnic groups in formal and informal territorial control, which makes the other group space limited. Various access mechanisms appear here. Here I discuss those who are able to control and maintain access as an effort to carry out a defense strategy. Ethnographic methods allow for exploration of power relations, social networks and ethnicity. Next, I questioned why parking lots were concentrated in the ethnic Madurese parking group. I answered it by presenting the life history of the parking group who winner the access distribution and saw this group distributing it for group profits.

......The dynamics of spatial patterns contributes to spatial processes in many environmental or cultural aspects. One application of the use of the spatial pattern concept is in the field of commerce, where each unit has a unique movement to market goods. In this study, spatial pattern analysis focuses on mobile coffee trader in Kecamatan Senen, Central Jakarta. These traders formed a community of street vendors, namely Kampung Starling, which was established in 2010 with members of the overseas Madurese community from Sampang Regency. The Madurese have their own characteristics and ways of determining the movement of their sales activities, thus determining their sales results from various aspects. This is what causes Kampung Starling to become homogeneous and it is very rare for other ethnic groups to join. The indicators that are the subject of analysis are divided into two types: characteristic of the traders and activity of the traders. Characteristic indicators consist of age, ethnicity, kinship with the agent, length of trading time, and trader's income, while activity indicators consist of routes, time, and length of trading routes. This research utilizes the use of a qualitative descriptive method through a case study approach. Primary data was obtained from observations and in-depth interviews with street vendors. Secondary data is taken from the documentation. Data processing performs classification and mapping of data against interview transcriptions. The technique used in analyzing the data is descriptive qualitative through data triangulation. The results of this research prove that the different spatial patterns among traders are mostly a form of loyalty to the tribal practice of seniority, and ethnic homogeneity provides ease and smoothness of interaction between traders and agents.
