Disertasi ini membahas tindakan kerja masyarakat dan keterpautannya dengan nilai Islam dan nilai adat tradisi pada masyarakat Gampong Meunasah Balek Kecamatan Meureudu Kabupaten Pidie Jaya Provinsi Nanggroe Aceh Darussalam. Menggunakan pendekatan penelitian kualitatif dengan studi kasus. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan nilai etika kerja Islam dan nilai ideal adat belum termanifes pada tindakan kerja aktor. Minimnya kadar kelekatan sosial pada tindakan kerja terkait dengan ketidakberfungsian institusi agama (imuem meunasah) dan institusi adat (kejruen blang, panglima laot, peutua seuneubok, haria peukan) dalam mensosialiasasikan dan menegakkan aturan-aturan yang ada. Hal itu terkait dengan krisis agensi dalam institusi-institusi sosial yang mengakibatkan terjadinya kekosongan patron sehingga mendorong aktor mengejawantahkan nilai menurut pengetahuan dan pengalamannya masing-masing sesuai historisitas dinamika kehidupan mikro dan dinamika lingkungan sosial makro. Penelitian ini mengisi celah kosong dari konsep kelekatan sosial tindakan ekonomi yang mengabaikan posisi agensi pada kajian dinamika kehidupan ekonomi masyarakat.

ABSTRACT
The focus of this study is the economic action and relationship wih Islamic etic and economic value of adat at society of Gampong Meunasah Balek subdistrick of Meureudu district of Pidie Jaya and Nanggroe Acheh Darussalam Provincy. This research is qualitative in the form of case study. The result of this study shows that is Islamic etic and idea of adat economic value has not manifest at actor economic action. This social diss-embededdness was relations with dissfunction of social institution such as religion institution (imuem meunasah) and adat institution (kejruen blang, panglima laot, peutua seuneubok, haria peukan) to socialitation and enforcement of rules. It was relations with crisis of social institution?s agency. It was made vacuum of patront condition, so actor effort himself to manifest of value according their knowledge, experience that so according dinamic of actor life history and setting of social environment. This study could contributed to concept of social embededdness of economic action that who have not give attention to agency at sociology of economic study.

Pasca runtuhnya Orde Baru, isu pemekaran wilayah di Indonesia ramai muncul ke permukaan. Maluku Utara muncul sebagai salah satu wilayah yang menuntut otonomi daerah dan terlepas dari provinsi induknya, Maluku. Gagasan ini muncul setelah upaya pengajuan pembentukan Provinsi Maluku Utara pada tahun 1958 tidak mendapat tanggapan dan gagasan ini tenggelam pada masa Orde Baru. Pada masa Presiden Habibie, pemerintah pusat dan daerah sama-sama setuju mengenai pembentukan Provinsi Maluku Utara. Tantangan kemudian muncul antara pemerintah pusat dengan masyartakat dan elite lokal Maluku Utara, di mana pemerintah pusat dinilai lambat dan tidak serius oleh masyarakat dan elite lokal Maluku Utara dalam memroses pengesahan Undang-Undang. Sedangkan pemerintah pusat menilai tindakan masyarakat dan elite lokal Maluku Utara yang melakukan demo sepanjang awal tahun 1999 terlalu berlebihan. Persaingan elite lokal antar dua kesultanan kembali mengemuka yang terwujud dalam perdebatan dalam penentuan ibukota provinsi, serta konflik sosial dan konflik politik yang terjadi setelah Maluku Utara dibentuk. Kehidupan awal Maluku Utara sebagai provinsi baru diwarnai konflik sosial hingga diberlakukannya darurat sipil. Selain itu, pemilihan gubernur pertama menjadi bukti kebangkitan demokrasi lokal yang mengarah pada primordialisme. Pembentukan Provinsi Maluku Utara ini membawa dampak bagi berkembangnya kesejahteraan rakyat di Maluku Utara dengan meningkatnya pertumbuhan ekonomi provinsi. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian sejarah kontemporer yang menggunakan metode wawancara dan penelusuran arsip sezaman. Penelitian ini diharapkan dapat memberikan kontribusi bagi sejarah pembentukan Provinsi Maluku Utara serta sejarah politik lokal di Indonesia.

After the fall of New Order, issues of formation of new provinces in Indonesia emerged. North Maluku appeared as one of regions which claimed for a regional autonomy to be separated from its main province, Maluku. These ideas emerged after efforts in requesting the establishment of the new province on 1958 had not been responded by the central government and so these ideas were concealed in New Order era. In the era of President Habibie 39 s leadership, central and local governments had come to an agreement to establish North Maluku Province. Thus many challenges rose between central government and local society along with its elites who perceived that the central government had been too slow and had not taken the matter seriously in order to legalise the laws of new province establishment. On the other hand, the central goverment perceived the measures taken by the local society and elites by doing demonstrations during first half 1999 to be an exaggeration. Local elite rivalries between the two sultanates reappeared as manifested in the debates in the determination of the provincial capital, as well as the social conflicts and political conflicts that occurred after the North Moluccas were formed. After establishing a new province, the early establishment of North Maluku was marked with social conflicts and this led to civilian emergencies. In addition to that, the first election of governor became a proof of rising local democratization, which directed to primordialism. The establishment of North Maluku brought about impacts in an increase in the society welfare, due to the growth of the province economy. This is a contemporary historical research, which uses methods by interviews and taking notes of historical archives. This research is done in hopes of contributing for historical studies of the establishment of North Maluku Province and the history of local politics in Indonesia.

Abstrak :
On the basis of the theoretical notions of discursive ambience and ambient discourse, this article examines the recent history of language and ethnicity in Banyuwangi in the far east of Java. Over the last three decades (with roots going back to the 1920s and earlier) a redefinition of the language and culture of the ?autochthonous? inhabitants of Banyuwangi has been occurring. Their status and constitution have been changing from a variety of Javanese into an autonomous language and ethnicity, called, after the name given to the language or dialect, Osing. At the same time, an idyllic and heroic picture of the regional past is being constructed and maintained. Prominent among the factors and agencies involved in these two ongoing processes is popular media culture. The regency of Banyuwangi and especially its capital (also named Banyuwangi) are being cast ? albeit sporadically and incidentally and sometimes controversially ? as an Osing region. At the centre of this historical process, people publicly render themselves ? also sporadically and temporarily ? Banyuwanginese by listening to and especially by singing, in karaoke-style, a genre of pop music with Osing lyrics and musical characteristics perceived as local.
