Bebasan adalah jurnal yang bertujuan mempublikasikan hasil-hasil penelitian bahasa dan sastra, baik bahasa Indonesia, bahasa daerah maupun bahasa asing. Seluruh artikel yang terbit telah melewati proses penelaahan oleh mitra bestari dan penyuntingan oleh redaksi pelaksana. BEBASAN diterbitkan oleh Kantor Bahasa Banten. Terbit dua kali dalam satu tahun, pada bulan Juni dan Desember.

(BEBASAN is a journal aiming to publish literary studies researches, either Indonesian, local, or foreign literatures. All articles in BEBASAN have passed reviewing process by peer reviewers and edited by editors. BEBASAN is published by Kantor Bahasa Banten twice a year, June and December.)

Abstrak :
From Los Angeles to Tokyo, Urban Sociolinguistics is a sociolinguistic study of twelve urban settings around the world. Building on William Labov’s famous New York Study, the authors demonstrate how language use in these areas is changing based on belief systems, behavioural norms, day-to-day rituals and linguistic practices. All chapters are written by key figures in sociolinguistics and presents the personal stories of individuals using linguistic means to go about their daily communications, in diverse sociolinguistic systems such as: extremely large urban conurbations like Cairo, Tokyo, and Mexico City smaller settings like Paris and Sydney less urbanised places such as the Western Netherlands Randstad area and Kohima in India. Providing new perspectives on crucial themes such as language choice and language contact, code-switching and mixing, language and identity, language policy and planning and social networks, this is key reading for students and researchers in the areas of multilingualism and super-diversity within sociolinguistics, applied linguistics and urban studies.

Abstrak :
The importance of Antonio Gramsci’s work for postcolonial studies can hardly be exaggerated, and in this volume, contributors situate Gramsci's work in the vast and complex oeuvre of postcolonial studies. Specifically, this book endeavors to reassess the impact on postcolonial studies of the central role assigned by Gramsci to culture and literature in the formation of a truly revolutionary idea of the national—a notion that has profoundly shaped the thinking of both Frantz Fanon and Edward Said. Gramsci, as Iain Chambers has argued, has been instrumental in helping scholars rethink their understanding of historical, political, and cultural struggle by substituting the relationship between tradition and modernity with that of subaltern versus hegemonic parts of the world. Combining theoretical reflections and re-interpretations of Gramsci, the scholars in this collection present comparative geo-cultural perspectives on the meaning of the subaltern, passive revolution, hegemony, and the concept of national-popular culture in order to chart out a political map of the postcolonial through the central focus on Gramsci.
