Abstrak :
Pada kusta lepromatosa hampir semua saraf tepi terinfeksi secara simetris dan biopsi satu saraf memberikan hasil yang sama baiknya dengan biopsi beberapa saraf. Tujuan penelitian adalah mengetahui perubahan histologis, menentukan indeks bakteri (IB) dan klasifikasi histologis saraf kutaneus radialis cabang telunjuk. Sejumlah 40 spesimen saraf dari 40 penderita diwarnai dengan cara hematoksilin eosin (HE) dan Fite-Faraco (FF), dan diperiksa dengan mikroskop cahaya. Ditemukan granuloma makrofag pada semua sediaan; nekrosis kaseosa dan fibrosis masing-masing pada satu sediaan. Jumlah lapisan perineurial bervariasi 7-12 lapis dan indeks bakteri saraf bervariasi 3+ - 6+. Tidak terdapat kesenjangan antara klasifikasi klinis dan histologis saraf. ...... The objective of this study was to determine the histological changes, the bacterial index (B1) and the histological classification of the index branch of the radial cutaneous nerve. Forty biopsy specimens of 40 patients stained with hematoxylin eosin (HE) and Fite--Faraco (FF) methods were studied with light microscope. Macrophage granulonas were found in all specimens caseous neorosis was found in one patient and fibrosis in one patient. Perineurius of the nerves consisted of 7 to 12 layers and the bacterial index of the nerves varied from 3+ to 6+. There was no discrepancy between the clinical and the histological classifications.
